Daniel Sturridge fails to recover from a thigh problem and is out of England’s upcoming match with Ukraine. Luis Suarez bags a brace for Uruguay, Victor Moses is amongst the goals for Nigeria, while David Luiz and Ramires feature for Brazil as Oscar misses out with an ankle knock:

Sturridge Out of Ukraine Match

Daniel Sturridge’s Fantasy owners were given further reason for concern after the forward was
ruled out of England’s qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday evening. The Liverpool man has failed to recover in time from the thigh problem that had been bothering him prior to last weekend’s win over United and yesterday’s news will raise question marks over his availability for the Reds’ next league fixture away to Swansea.

The Scout Says: Although the Gameweek 4 trip to the Liberty doesn’t take place until Monday September 16, Sturridge’s propensity for picking up injuries is a real concern. Last season, he was sidelined at Chelsea with a hamstring injury, while a groin strain hampered his number of starts with the Merseysiders. Frustratingly, this comes at a time where he’s turning in the most prolific performances of his career – grabbing the match-winner in each of the first three league matches. With an enticing run of games up next for Brendan Rodgers’ side, the bandwagon was in overdrive but has now comes to a standstill on the back of his omission – given that Luis Suarez is back for Gameweek 6, Rodgers may decide to take it easy with Sturridge in order to prevent further injury. The arrival of Victor Moses could also see Iago Aspas pushed into the lone forward role, with Philippe Coutinho switching from the left flank into “the hole” behind Aspas, should Rodgers choose to court caution. Both Suarez and Moses were in action last night for their international sides and the duo found the net – Moses grabbed Nigeria’s second against Malawai while Suarez notched both Uruguay’s goals in a win away to Peru.

Luiz and Ramires Star for Samba Boys

Chelsea pair Ramires and David Luiz both featured in Brazil’s 6-0 drubbing over Australia. Ramires, in the side for the injured Oscar, got himself on the scoresheet and earned an assist, while Luiz came through an hour before being replaced.

The Scout Says: Having started in the Super Cup clash with Bayern Munich, Luiz would now see firmly in the frame to figure in Jose Mourinho’s Premier League lineup when domestic matters reconvene for Gameweek 4’s trip to Everton. It was John Terry who made way against Bayern and it remains to be seen how Mourinho will juggle his defence come Saturday’s tea-time kick-off. Luiz would seem set to figure in Brazil’s friendly with Portugal on Tuesday before flying back to join up with the Blues’ squad. He has dropped to 6.3 from 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, representing a viable saving for the 31% who currently hold Branislav Ivanovic. Terry, meanwhile, is owed by over 5% of FPL managers who will doubtless be looking to the Goodison teamsheet with some trepidation. However, having been fully rested over the break, Terry could well be restored against the Toffees with both Gary Cahill and Luiz seeing minutes for their respective countries. Meanwhile, Oscar’s reported ankle injury, reportedly sustained in training with Brazil, will make him an early doubt for Saturday’s clash – perhaps opening the door for Juan Mata’s first league start of the season.

        I agree.

I would actually list Fellaini as second pick here as he is more nailed on probably than the others as he can play 2 roles.

Wellbeck is a waste.of a striker pick. Nani, young, Valencia, zaha, kagawa, giggs, rooney, all too high risk.

I think he will still offer a threat as vs rubbish, he will get to attack still and vs quality, might play behind rvp.
But for me, RVP is must have weeks 4-9

The ASOIAF series. By far the best thing I've ever read.
I know it's fashionable to like it at the moment, but it really is so successful for a reason. A Storm of Swords is the pick of the bunch.

This is the risk RVP wise.

I am getting him as 4/6 next up are home to palace, wba, soton, stoke.

If half the game has him and captains him and he hits form these weeks, those without better get their captains spot on.

Too risky not to have him for me.

There is a risk to having him as well. If he does badly everyone who had him from the start will see 3 blanks in a row, 14m and City away up next and get rid. Real price plummet. Everyone said City would destroy Hull. Look what happened. Can see United being 2-0 up and shutting the game down. Maybe RVP will get both goals, maybe he won't.

Love the logic of SOMEof the non RVP owners on here.

According to them moyes will rest his star man v palace despite them having a dodgy start to the season and the fact their other main striker roondog is 90 % out of the match.

Love the logic of a non owner and they say us owners are biased ......

Welbeck isnt that outrageous an alternative and saves you an incredible 6.3.

RVP is essential given his consistency and his fixtures but you have to factor what it does to the rest of your team

if utd had got a point in the pool match I think we may well have been looking at a rotation issue, as it stands moyes cannot afford any mistakes in this match so I believe rvp will start and he will bring him off when the damage is done

      Very wise words.
Moyes can't afford any slip ups.
Man City at the Etihad week 5.

This week, Chelsea away to Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal and City all away. Everton have Chelsea home.

Bit of a generalisation here. We're all biased without realising it. The suggestion that RVP is more a desperate hope than a realistic expectation but no different from any tendency we all have to judge events differently according to whether or not we own a player or not.

Try to remember some unwritten rules. Players scoring poorly in early kick-offs is a common occurrence.

With this in mind, if you own RvP, consider benching him.

      DGW is like a -2
Injured pleyers worth getting out for a hit

To RVP owners and those getting him on WC:
Are you worried that Man U don't seem to be the free flowing attacking unit they were under SAF?
Are you worried that they will be content to grind out a 1-0 victory?
Are you worried RVP barely got a sniff against Chelsea or Liverpool?

Not really...i thought the same before the season began, then he scored two vs Swansea...I wildcarded after that and put him in, purely because if you don't put him in, it's hard to then do it without a wildcard, whereas if you put him in it's easy to then take him out and upgrade your midfield. As soon as the goals start flowing, I'll change from 5 in defence, take out RVP, upgrade my midfield with another united option, kagawa or nani, put in Lukaku.

He depends on service and last season United' wingers were at their worst. Valencia seems marginally improved, Nani is back, there's no injuries in that area and there's 6 players fighting for their place on the wing.

Just apps in general? Aren't they supposed to solve a need you have? You want us to create the need and then suggest a way to solve it?
