The international break can be used for many things – some Fantasy Managers take the time actually spend time with their spouses, other folks will simply go stir crazy without the rush of bonus points or some form of assist-gate scandal to cling on to at weekends. The Premier League and their clubs, however, do not rest on their laurels and behind the scenes, two of the four games postponed from gameweek 33 (due the the FA Cup semi-finals) have today been rescheduled…
Newcastle will now play host to Manchester United on the night of Tuesday April 19. As we had assumed was the case, this places the fixture firmly back into the midst of gameweek 33 from where it was originally shunted; that means that neither the Magpies or Red Devils will face a blank fixture.
Manchester City do keep their blank in that gameweek however and, as predicted by some prophetic soul, we have had the announcement that their home game against Spurs will take place on the evening of Tuesday May 10.
This date means that game will be tacked onto the end of gameweek 36 and gives Mancini’s men a run of games closing out the season [WHM, eve/TOT, STK] that may see you turn back to Carlos Tevez not long after you have contemplated selling him.
Spurs meanwhile will now have three very tough, and very important, away days on the bounce [che, BPL/mcy, liv] as their run of games becomes all too reminiscent of last season. Redknapp’s men overcame a tough schedule and a double gameweek at Eastlands with aplomb last term, to ultimately qualify for the Champions League. Can they replicate such feats and will Fantasy Managers be tempted by their wares during such times? Odds on another Peter Crouch header to secure fourth spot and all that European bullion are no doubt currently being calculated.
Your seasons tickers will be updated shortly to follow this latest evidence as we wait for the likely word of a gameweek 33 rescheduling for Fulham vs Bolton and Stoke vs Wolves.
