Headliners Wayne Rooney and Boaz Myhill produced the goods last week, while Yohan Cabaye also chipped in before succumbing to a groin problem at home to Hull. We cast an eye over this week’s PlayON price list and get scouting in search of bargains once again.

If you’re new to PlayON, read this season’s introduction article for more information. If you’re already a seasoned player, read on for our selection of early weekend targets…

Gameweek 6 Picks

Goalkeeper – David Marshall
This week there are four regular keepers all under the 8.0m bracket but the Cardiff stopper looks the most enticing option. Marshall’s heroics against Tottenham last Sunday earned him 1,400 points on PlayON and a trip to Craven Cottage on Saturday to face a Fulham side with one goal in their last three league appearances make the Bluebirds stopper strong value at 7.8m. The other three budget keepers for your perusal are Kieran Westwood (7.0m), Brad Guzan (7.5m) and Boaz Myhill (7.7m) but with games against Liverpool, City and United respectively, their prospects look a little bleaker.

Defender – Vincent Kompany
Having only just returned from injury, the City skipper is available for a bargain 9.2m this week. Kompany rolls up to Villa Park on Saturday and with the midlands outfit devoid of talisman Christian Benteke, the visitors’ chances of a clean sheet seems far more likely – bearing in mind Pablo Zabaleta will set you back 11.4m, Kompany looks a relatively cut-price route into Manuel Pellegrini’s backline. Scouring the budget bracket, there are plenty of options for those willing to take a gamble with one or two of their picks – United’s Rafael is back from injury and is priced at 7.3m ahead of a home clash with West Brom, West Ham summer signing Razvan Rat (8.0m) seems to have finally established himself as first-choice left-back and heads to Hull this weekend, while Fulham’s Fernando Amorebieta (8.1m) made his first start last time out and will be confident of returns at home to a Cardiff side with one goal in the last three Gameweeks.

Midfielder – Mikel Arteta
Similar to Kompany, the Arsenal midfielder’s recent return from injury ensures his price remains in the budget bracket. Arteta is available for a mere 6.2m this weekend and with Arsene Wenger sweating over the fitness of Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini, the Spaniard looks set for his first league start of the season and has penalty duties to also boost his points potential. With doubts hanging over Leon Osman, Darron Gibson is likely to return to the Everton starting line-up and at 5.9m, the Toffees midfielder looks a steal. Hull’s Stephen Quinn comes in at just 6.9m for the home game against West Ham – he has recently returned to the Tigers first-team as a result of Robert Koren’s injury, while the playmaking talents of Robert Snodgrass (7.6m) could be the difference for Norwich as they head to the Britannia.

Forward – Luis Suarez
Set to play his first league game since a 10-match suspension, the Liverpool forward is the cheapest frontline option in this week’s PlayON price list and heads to basement-dwellers Sunderland this weekend. Coming in at just 7.0m (compared to Daniel Sturridge’s 11.7m) Suarez looks set to torment the managerless Black Cats and will be handed plenty of opportunity to hog the headlines as the Merseysiders look to bounce back from last week’s shock home loss to Southampton. Romelu Lukaku remains kind on the budget at 9.3m and looks poised for his first league start after emerging from the bench to grab the winner at West Ham. Further up the price scale, Wayne Rooney is the luxury option at 11.6m – regardless of Robin Van Persie’s availability for Man United’s home game with West Brom, the former Everton man has done enough to justify our faith and has scored in back-to-back league matches.

How To Play

PlayON is weekly Fantasy football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season. Once your starting XI is built (you can keep changing your team right up to 2 hours before the first kick-off – 10.45 on Sat morning), you can compete for cash. Entering a multiplayer game for a set stake, you’ll have a chance of winning your share of the pot should you finish high enough in the rankings.

Similarly, you can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 64% win rate so far!

Facebook and Twitter £50 Competitions

In addition to guaranteeing a £500 pot this week, PlayON is also running a competition on its Facebook and Twitter pages to celebrate the return of Luis Suarez to league action. The two people that come up with the best captions for the Suarez picture on their Facebook and Twitter pages will each earn £50 of Free Credit – more Facebook and Twitter competitions on the way from PlayON over the course of the season too.

The Fantasy Football Scout Game

We’ve also got a £2 multiplayer game, dedicated to our community, which is now open and the prize pot is building.

Challenge Your Mates

You can also set up your own multiplayer games with your mates to play for free bragging rights or for cash. Create your own game at www.playon.co.uk.

Finally, a reminder that we have published a strategy guide, offering some tips for getting the most from your PlayON lineup, right here.

You have to be over 18 to enter cash games at PlayON. If you do wager some cash, please remember to gamble responsibly. PlayON is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.

      Hmmm... 😕

      I don't like Rio/lolorav/Lukaku...risk involved.

Get Baines and forget about him. I've given up on Spurs.(Eriksen) Not enough goals in them and I doubt it will change this week.

Baines+Ivan/Terry or Vidic for the rest of the season? Anyway, that's my thinking.

Ferdinand close to being dropped (if not this weekend)
Dawson could be a risk with that new signing fit
      Kolarov - Clichy is back
Clyne - rotation risk this season with Chambers doing well
      Eriksen -not sure yet
Barkley - will be rotated at times, e.g. Gibson and Defoleu or whatever
Rooney - not the main man but still good
      Lukaku - rotation risk

      So, lots of risks there

      The team looks fine.

I have Vidic and Walker (so that would be my recommendation).
Lolarov is a decent punt and i have him on my radar.

Not that Barkley/Whitts + Clyne/Burner aren't good picks as I haven't checked their rotation, but ideally you want to be happy that some weeks you can play 433 and others 343 without settling for 2 points off of one of them if they all have crappy fixtures (unlikely).

      I think it's a decent WC team.

Just did a quick scout of Arnautovic from the Match of the Day highlights of Arsenal v Stoke. Couple of other observations from that game but will focus on Arnie. If you want to spot him, Arnie is #10.

    http://www.footytube.com/video/arsenal-stoke-city-sep22-225983?ref=tchan_ov_vidgrid

3.06 Arnie runs onto a cross from a left wing position and hits the post, getting an assist from Cameron's rebound. Jones definitely playing as the CF there but drifted right allowing Arnie to run in.
3.58 Arnie very deep at left wing, behind the play.
4.12 Arnie behind the play and making very little effort to defend on the left wing at walking pace while Arsenal cut through them. To be fair his direct opponent Gnabry was also behind the play but he showed little awareness of those around him including Sagna, who wasn't behind the play.
6.50 Defending better on the left wing tracking Ozil's run
9.06 Pennant has been brought on for Jones. In this attack down the left, now Arnie appears to be playing right wing, not center forward. Walters is in a center forward position.
9.26 Arnie on right wing and again very deep.

In summary based off these limited observations (full replays of the games are my holy grail) Arnie is deeper than I expected and also contrary to my expectations was shifted to right wing instead of center forward after the center forward Jones was subbed off. Generally speaking he looked very apathetic and barely broke a sweat. All in keeping with his high skill low effort 'Ibra' stereotype, I guess.

    Other general observations:
Ramsey still playing advanced, often one of the two most advanced players, and continuing to get shots in the box. May differ against the much better midfield of Swansea though.
Gnabry dribbling well and had a few shots without end product.
Stoke defence looks much more disorganized than last season, with all three goals conceded from set pieces, against Arsenal of all people. Probably a side effect of playing admittedly much more open and attractive football under Hughes. Admittedly they did keep CS against West Ham and City, though West Ham offer very little threat and City were playing their second team. Putting me off getting Wilson despite their good fixtures.

    Mignolet (Boruc)
Zabaleta - Walker - Coleman (Terry)
Brady - Barkley - Ben Arfa - Michu (Ward-Prowse, Turner)
Giroud - van Persie - Lambert

    1. Who to bench? I don't know if I should play Terry, for example. JWP also a close call (if he can get the minutes)
    2. Who to captain? Currently on RvP. Risky, but I have no safer bet currently. VC Lambert who is out of form.
