Aaron Ramsey is out for the rest of the Christmas period. Fulham, Hull and Stoke are rocked by goalkeeper injuries. Phil Jones suffers a knee injury for United. Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar are likely to remain sidelined for Villa. Dimitar Berbatov remains a doubt for the weekend, while Ravel Morrison is a concern for West Ham with a groin complaint:

Arsenal’s title bid has been dealt a blow with the news that Aaron Ramsey is expected to be out for a while with the thigh strain sustained at West Ham. Post-match, Arsene Wenger confirmed the injury will “certainly” keep the Welshman out for the remainder of the Christmas period. Meanwhile Jack Wilshere returns for the trip to Newcastle, following suspension.

Dimitar Berbatov remains a doubt for Fulham’s trip to Hull after missing the last two matches with a groin complaint. Rene Meulensteen will be without Maarten Stekelenburg, though, after he twisted his ankle on the last day of training before the Boxing Day win at Norwich – David Stockdale is set to deputise once more.

Asmir Begovic could be sidelined for up to six weeks after suffering a broken finger in training. The Bosnian missed Stoke’s defeat to Newcastle, with Mark Hughes revealing “It’s quite a bad break”. Thomas Sorensen is expected to deputise between the sticks, whilst the Potters will also be without Marc Wilson and Glenn Whelan, following their red cards against Newcastle.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed James Collins is “unlikely” to recover from the calf complaint that forced him off early during yesterday’s defeat to Arsenal, though the Hammers boss is a little more optimistic on Ravel Morrison. The youngster missed out against the Gunners with a groin complaint but his manager reckons it “isn’t too bad” ahead of a crucial clash with West Brom.

Manchester United have defensive concerns after Phil Jones missed the win over Hull with a knee injury. The former Blackburn man is expected to be sidelined for “a couple of weeks”, according to David Moyes, while Rafael is a doubt after coming off early against Hull with a groin problem.

Christian Benteke and Ron Viaar look set to miss out again for Villa with knee and calf injuries respectively. Paul Lambert is hopeful the Belgian could be available for New Year’s Day against Sunderland but is less optimistic on his skipper. Villa will welcome back Ashley Westwood though, after the midfielder served his suspension in the home loss to Palace.

Hull have injury concerns ahead of the Fulham game, after David Meyler and Allan McGregor were both withdrawn at half-time on Boxing day with knee injuries. The pair are set for x-rays and scans, with Steve Bruce unsure whether either will be available for Saturday. Alex Bruce is also a doubt after picking up a calf problem during the United game.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Walker, Ramsey and Morrison suspended and injured. Worth taking a 4pt hit to replace any of them ? 0.2m in bank.

    Mignolet, Myhill
    Walker, Coleman, Gabbidon, Jagielka, Baker

I think I'm saving my transfer despite wanting to get rid of Ramsey. I'll lose 0.2 max on him and since there are no standout options this week for 7.2, might as well wait. See if I have other injuries to worry about on sunday evening.

My starting midfield atm is Whitt, Theo, Barkley and Haz.

    Stupid or sensible??

Prior to any press conference news the city line up is a minefield. Have 2 free transfers so, despite a desire to show faith, Lukaku needs to be a makeweight in upgrading Ramsey to a premium mid, so....

Ramsey & Lukaku > Walcott & Adebayor (Both surely should be nailed & fresh as their seasons have barely started).

    Marshall
    Chester, Merte, Terry, Distin
    Walcott, Nasri, Hazard
    Rooney, Ade, Suarez

    Bench: Morrison, Amalf, GJ

Sound right or any other ideas gratefully received?

I quite like the Adebayor punt. Another option could be to downgrade GJ to a cheap defender to fund Walcott. Liverpool don't look like keeping enough clean sheets.

Yeah thought about a defender downgrade but I'd promised myself to avoid tinkering at the back (I'm holding Boruc until fit). Chasing a cash mini-league deficit to regain my title so transfers need to be aggressive & offensive.

True I also try to avoid defensive transfers but if they help facilitate an upgrade elsewhere I think they're worth it. Saying that Adebayor could score very well and if he's a differential in your mini league then it could pay off!

Don't really wanna do Ramsey -> Cabaye but what else would you lads suggest?

    Mannone
    Coleman, Koscielny, Chester (Burner) (Brown)
    Hazard, Silva, Walcott, Janujaz (Ramsey)
    Rooney, Lukaku, Suarez

    1 FT, 0 banked

A: Ramsey > Cabaye (bench Janujaz)
B: Ramsey > Sterling/Ki to rotate with Janujaz
    C: Lukaku > Dzeko
    D: Lukaku > JRod
E: Save FT and re-evaluate after this week

You're team looks great for this week so E if you can take the value lost on Ramsey. If not get Sterling as you say and upgrade lukaku to Negredo next week. I wouldn't bother with Cabaye. I know he's in a purple patch but people will be selling as soon as he hits a run of blanks, which with his fixtures is very possible.

    Proposed team:

    Mannone* - Marshall

    Chester - Nastasic* (4.4) Clyne* - Coleman

    Hazard - Januzaj* - Barkley - Walcott* - Silva

    Rooney - Negredo - Suárez

Would dump: Mingolet, Ridgewell, Williams, Ramsey, Fer

And Sterling is bang in form. He was excellent yesterday and has been excellent for the last couple of games. I've been watching him closely being a Liverpool supporter, him, Sakho and Henderson have stood out. Defences cant handle Sterling's pace and his runs that Suarez spots.

He could easily deliver something against Chelsea.

did he...I like the idea that despite getting thrashed that goalies can end up with save points. Oddly a goalie can play well at the same time as letting goals in...They can't keep CS's all on their own

Yeah, he saved a penalty and racked up the saves so it was a similar scenario, despite -4 for goals conceded.

I'm still mystified how I ended up on 36pts for Boxing Day.

What's wrong with this lot (apart from Ramsey of course)?

The guys with the highest ownership all blanked (Yaya, Ozil, Barkley, Suarez, Lukaku) ... the fact that so many of them did this week is just unlucky for you

T'was the week for differentials like Theo and Silva..

    Team for this week:

    Marshall
    Coleman-Sagna--Chester
    Hazard-Silva-Walcott-Cabaye
    Suarez-Lukaku-**Berbatov

    Subs: *Howard; **Clyne-**R.Morrison-Ward

    * =Suspended
    **= Doubtful

Now should I risk on the possibility of Ward coming in or do a -4 or even a -8?
    a) -4 would be Howard>Manonne so next week I could get Roo for free
    b) -8 would be Howard & Lukaku > Manonne & Rooney
    c) Just risk it

Considering the heightened risk for rotation for this GW, I would consider a possible hit to get more outfield players. Not sure how that fits with your plans though.

Hmm.. I'm a bit confident that there's no heavy rotation with the likes of Silva and Wally and I really want to get Rooney before using the Jan WC. The safest thing I might do is get rid of Clyne or Ravel...?

Lose 0.6 by taking him out. My TV last week 108.9

Guys, what do you all think about Jaznuzaj vs Sterling over the next 2 games?

    1. Gameplay (sterling wins)
    - Sterling has higher creativity and threat (threat only slightly higher though, based on past 4 gameweeks), and is more direct then Januzaj, i.e he feeds off Suarez's through balls and space vacated by defenders who are covering Saurez

    2. Sharpness (Januzaj wins)
    - Coming after an extremely exhausting (physically and mentally) loss, I highly doubt Lpool and sterling for that matter will be sharp/fresh when they play Chelsea

    3. Quality of opponent (Januzaj wins)
    - wk 19: Liverpool has a much tougher opponent (Norwich vs Man Utd. Pool vs Chelsea)
    - wk 20: Man Utd has a moderately tougher opponent (Man Utd vs Spurs. Pool vs Hull)

    4. Rotation (Sterling wins slightly)
    - I would think Januzaj will be benched against Spurs. Sterling will probably play due to a lack of options, though I doubt he will be sharp

    5. Bookie Odds (Januzaj wins)
    - Januzaj has better odds based on anytime goalscorer

However, as I've only watched Sterling play, and seen how effective he can be besides his finishing, I would appreciate if anyone could add on his opinion on the matter, or who has watched Januzaj play?

    Thanks guys

      Thanks guys..

I've decided to go Januzaj this week, and sterling next, a one week punt is ok for me as I will wildcarding after, will just be paying 0.1 more for sterling's new price.

The deciding factor for me is still quality of opposition and freshness.

Chelsea has nv conceded more than 1 goal against any of the top clubs. they are at home. and pool players will definitely be lacking quite a bit of sharpness, after such a tough game at city and flying over to London with just 2-3 days rest. Pool squad is small, and there aren't any good players coming in to freshen up the squad.

My mid is in a bit of a state, assuming Harper can play Fulham what move is best?

    *Howard *Harper
    Shaw Chester Mert Coleman Burner
    *Mirallas Walcott *Ramsey Whittingham *Ravel
    Rooney Suarez *Negredo

    3.9M in bank, 1FT

1 - Ramsey ---> Silva (and cross fingers I can play XI)
    2 - Ramsey + Ravel ----> Sterling/Henderson + Silva (-4)
    3 - Ramsey + Mirallas ----> Silva + Cabaye (-4)
    4 - Ramsey + Mirallas ----> Silva + Nasri/Navas (-4)

Leaning to 1 or 2 here, cant see Cabaye being worth a -4 with Arsenal and City in next 3
