There’s just one Premier League fixture on this Easter Sunday, as Arsenal visit the Reebok Stadium. With title rivals Manchester United and Chelsea both securing three points yesterday, this of course falls into the ‘must win’ category for the Gunners.

As for Bolton, the 43 points they’ve already accrued this season means that they don’t really have a lot to play for. However, after suffering a major humiliation at Wembley last week, it’s perhaps pride more than anything else that’s at stake for the home side.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open, and the team news is in…

Bolton XI: Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Cahill, Knight, Robinson, Lee, Elmander, Muamba, Taylor, Sturridge, Kevin Davies

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Koscielny, Clichy, Song, Wilshere, Walcott, Fabregas, Nasri, van Persie

The Wanderers welcome back in-form striker Daniel Sturridge, who was cup-tied for the Stoke game, and Matty Taylor earns a start in midfield. Jack Wilshere comes back in after being rested in the North London derby, with Abou Diaby making way.

    Who am I?

I was born in Norway in 1976 and began my career with one of the country's top clubs. I made 50 appearances for that club, scoring 18 times earning me a move to a top tier North London Club. I spent 7 years there then moved to a club currently fighting relegation in the EPL. I moved back to Norway joining Valagrena for a few years then returned to my first club. I now ply my trade for Crystal Palace in the championship. I won 79 caps for Norway scoring 21 times. I am known for my aerial ability.

It's pure horseshit. Cahill scores, Sturridge gets the goal (and 2 baps).

I'm not bitter about Bobby Z's assist, honest...

"Due" -- term describing a temporal concept justifying the keeping of an under-performing player or the dropping of an in-form player; meant to delude oneself into the belief that one's knowledge and intuition is indeed enough to overcome the Fantasy Footy odds.

The last refuge of the truly desperate.

Will definitely stay as a Sturridge goal. The linesman didn't flag to indicate a goal until Sturridge had finished it off.

It may ultimately get changed to a Cahill goal by the Dubious Goals Panel, but that won't be for a while, and long after the gameweek is over.

Finally turning my miserable season around. 1st half of the season I had some terrible luck. Then started making some silly mistakes out of desperation, lost patience and started searching for differentials when I should have stuck to the tactics that worked so well last season. Then around gw28/29 I got smashed with injuries and spent 32 points on transfers in 3 gw's.
Now I'm well and truly on a march, ranked 2599th for april and have gone from 94k to 23k in 3 weeks. Just went back to my usual tactics of sticking to a plan, backing my own decisions and not knee jerking players in and out. Lesson learned, patience is the key. Bring on next season already.

I absolutely love RBJ's betting rants. Seems like he puts £50 on 4 times and loses (and it's always very very unlucky), then wins £200 and is over the moon. So he's exactly as he started. And the cycle carries on.

He was booked for it, and I've completely changed my opinion on the matter. Cohen went into the game knowing fully well that he'd be booked for the celebration, so you can't really have any sympathy for him. I doubt he gives a shit anyway, it was in the last minute and players can no longer get banned for too many yellows.

THEY ARE THE RULES! Hmmmmmm.. Interesting point. With the Arsenal game being on the Sunday, and Pulis talking about players being tired, I guess we could see a reserve Stoke team put out. Makes keeping Fabregas over Lampard that much more tempting...

I hadn't read that. If they're safe then it would make sense to rest all the stars. Might get fab or walcott instead of a 5th spurs/city player, keep an eye on that one 🙂

He used to be one of the best midfielder in the world, but he's completely lost it now. Hasn't been good for a couple of seasons now, not many people would disagree with that.

Those goals aren't an entirely accurate reflection of his performances anyway. He scored loads last season and wasn't playing even close to his former best.

Is he affecting Essien's performance or vice versa or is it entirely coincidental that two of the best midfielders of the last five years have been shite* this season?

                  *By their own standards.

Nah, I wouldn't say that their lack of form is related, just coincidence. Lampard is getting old and it seems as though all those injuries have caught up with Essien.

They've both been shite this season by anyone's standards.

Now while I'll never have a bad word to say about Lamps and what he has done for Chelsea, I am in the camp that feels we need to try and base a team now that doesn't rely on him for his goals and attacking threat.

The 3/4 months he was out and since he has regained his fitness has made it abundantly clear that we have an over reliance on his runs into the box and when he isn't there, the team suffers for it.

Essien is a shadow of his former self as well - I honestly don't think he's been the same since his knee injury.

"Mourinho wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father by becoming a footballer and so he joined the Belenenses youth team. Graduating to the senior level, he played at Rio Ave (where his father was coach), Belenenses, and Sesimbra, but it became evident that he would not excel as a professional due to a lack of the requisite pace and power"

Lets not be pedantic, I would not call this a proper professional football career.

That Villas Boas geezer from Porto wasn't a player either. He just followed Rir Sobby Bobson around, then Joe-say.

                  He's 'only' 33 I think.

This is hardly revelatory. Jose Mourinho never played pro football, Sven was a pretty shite player, as was Wenger.

In this country, because we're a bunch of thick, stupid, alcoholic, uneducated cloggers with no respect for brains or qualifications, you have to have played pro football to me a manager.

Lampard is a player id fancy to be a decent manager, apparently he has a ridiculously high IQ.

Yeah, maybe. I'm not sure how important raw IQ is, but there must be so many people who never played pro football who could do a far better job of managing than your usual ex-pro.

Completely agree, I mentioned that because hes obviously clever and would do a better job than Rooney, Rio Ferdinand or Windass.

I think one day most managers will be professional managers rather than ex pros.

I'm sure Steven Hawking has a pretty decent IQ too. Doesn't mean he should replace Wenger at Arsenal.

Problem with sport in this country is that it's too class-orientated. The working class play football and rugby league, while the middle classes play cricket and rugby union*. Middle class kids that try to make it as footballers in this country often get bullied out of town, or mocked like Le Saux did. This cuts down the talent pool, and probably loses more of the more educated ones, who would go on to be better managers.

There was an interesting chapter in some book I can't remember the title of about this very subject.

I think Peter Crouch and Theo Walcott were the only footballers the author judged to be middle class in England's 2006 World Cup squad.

                  Why England Lose. Quality stuff.

It was actually England players of the last 3 World Cups (prior to 2010). and yeah, those two and David James were the only three whose parents had some kind of educated background.

    Who am I?

There are no first person accounts of me, but a possible second-hand source, provided by Priscus, described me as a person of Asian features, short of stature, with a broad chest and a large head, small eyes, a thin beard sprinkled with grey, a flat nose and tanned skin.

In 450, I proclaimed my intent to attack the Visigoth kingdom of Toulouse by making an alliance with Emperor Valentinian III.

That's nothing, I have several chunky books on him. Basically I have hundreds of books on people who have been dead an awful lot longer than Attila and had far less world changing impact. One wiki page really doesn't do any justice.
If he won the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains the world would be completely different.

How can you NOT be? So much to go into here. Basically (as short as I can make it) the Roman Empire was coming towards it's end, much of Europe was under Gothic and Visigothic control as the boundaries of the Roman Empire contracted. However these new European monarchical tribes generally had a lot in common with Roman customs - particularly Christianity which was flourishing. Attila would have completely wiped out the Christian Church (he wasn't called the Scourge of God for nothing) and destroyed the last traces of Roman Civilization.
That is very basically put, it's really complex but the influence of that particular battle cannot be understated in terms of macrohistorical importance.

i really have a poor knowledge of history that far back, but you are saying he could have wiped out christianity in that one battle?

Not totally, but European Christianity yes. No army would have been able to stop him taking the whole of continental western europe if Aeitus and Theoderic had lost.
Incidentally Tolkien based a lot of his stuff on that battle in particular, amazing stuff, both sides lost. They fought to a complete and utter standstill. 300,000 dead in one day, just think of that in an age before machine guns or airstrikes.

Will also have 3 Citeh players, but need to narrow my choices down from about six of them! Hart, Kolarov, Yaya, Silva, Johnson and Balotelli are all very tempting!
