With a blustering Gameweek 26 all buttoned up, we check out the stats that matter in the Sky game using the usual info, including the Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends. As always, we also look ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, offering our preferred captain setup for Gameweek 28 (GW27 was blank).

Gameweek 26 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below is a match-by-match breakdown of the players who won the plaudits from the Sky Sports reporters last time out, earning five additional points for the Man-of-the-Match award.

FixtureMoTM
Liverpool vs ArsenalRaheem Sterling
Aston Villa vs West HamKevin Nolan
Chelsea vs NewcastleEden Hazard
Crystal Palace vs West BromTom Ince
Norwich vs Man CityNathan Redmond
Southampton vs StokeCharlie Adam
Sunderland vs HullNikica Jelavic

Man United vs FulhamSteve Sidwell
Cardiff vs Aston VillaBen Turner
Hull vs SouthamptonAdam Lallana
West Ham vs NorwichMohamed Diame
West Brom vs ChelseaSaido Berahino
Arsenal vs Man UnitedWojciech Szczesny
Newcastle vs TottenhamEmmanuel Adebayor
Stoke vs SwanseaRyan Shawcross
Fulham vs LiverpoolSteven Gerrard

Midfielders claimed 11 of a possible 18 awards with one goalkeeper, two defenders and four forwards picking up the scraps, a special mention to Emmanuel Adebayor who was the only player to pick up the award twice and has now managed to claim the award in four of his ten games so far – at only 7.6 million, he looks great value. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is still out in front with a total of nine awards, three ahead of Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez and Curtis Davies.

Gameweek 26 Bonus Points

Twelve goalkeepers managed five saves or more this week – Maarten Stekelenburg was the top keeper with a total of eleven saves over the two games. Vito Mannone again picked up bonus points and is sat at the top of the bonus rankings with 16 additional points to his name.

In defence, a total of 15 players gathered bonus, nine for tackles and seven for passes completed – full-back Angel Rangel was the player to achieve both and now joins team mate Chico and Crystal Palace full-back Joel Ward on 20 extra points.

In midfield, 29 players earned bonus points – 16 for tackling and 19 for passes. Four midfielders managed to pick up bonus in both games, whilst Morgan Schneiderlin managed tackling once and passing twice to earn himself an additional six points, putting him level with Yaya Toure and Cheik Tiote on 32 additional points overall.

A reminder that Fantasy Football Scout members can access all the data regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
TerryChelsea77.09%
RamseyArsenal5.84.69%
HendersonLiverpool63.60%
NegredoMan City8.63.45%
LovrenSouthampton5.23.21%

Aaron Ramsey and Dejan Lovren remain on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, whilst John Terry, Jordan Henderson and Alvaro Negredo look set to feature this weekend. Negredo’s ownership has been ‘yo-yoing’ back and forth over the last few weeks, but with the imminent return of team mate Sergio Aguero, his ownership will probably continue to drop as Fantasy managers scramble to acquire the Argentinian’s services.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
SturridgeLiverpool9.26.29%
FonteSouthampton5.14.93%
AdebayorTottenham7.64.84%
LallanaSouthampton5.94.66%
HazardChelsea8.84.23%

Daniel Sturridge’s relentless form sees him top the transfers in and he looks a good acquisition ahead of a home clash with Swansea this weekend. Likewise, Emmanuel Adebayor has been a revelation under new boss Tim Sherwood and looks a good bet for points away to Norwich. Jose Fonte, Adam Lallana and Eden Hazard regularly feature in the most transferred in as their ownership continues to rise.

Gameweek 28 Proposed Captain Strategy

Looking ahead to the captaincy choices for Gameweek 28, we will have to settle for just two captains as there is no Monday night game this week.

Our Strategy:
Yaya Toure (Stoke at Home) → Luis Suarez (Swansea at Home)

For the fixtures on Saturday 22nd, we have opted for the security of Yaya Toure – Man City have been devastating at home this season and, with direct free-kicks and penalties in his locker alongside the high chance of passing bonus, he looks a safe bet. Other alternatives include Robin van Persie and Santi Cazorla.

For Sunday the 23rd, a switch to Luis Suarez looks a no-brainer as they host the Swans at Anfield. Of course, Daniel Sturridge offers an alternative option if you’re looking for a differential.

As an added bonus Suarez & Sturridge play on Saturday March 1st away to Southampton in Gameweek 29.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Our own Fantasy Football Scout League is on top of the Private League rankings. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

    Looking at this for tomorrow:

    Boruc
    Collins Sagna Fabio
    Hazard Mata Lallana Yaya Toure
    Giroud Dzeko Suarez(C)
    Subs: 3.9, Puncheon, Distin, Vlaar

    1FT, 0.5 to spend.

Fabio playing poorly and unlikely start so need to decide between Distin and Vlaar I guess. Any must haves I need to bring in? Ideally save FT for the double GWs coming up.

Stuck at the bottom of last page:

Don't know what's more frustrating - Planning blanks, Having Silva , Having Kolarov, Working till midnights on weeknd or playing Flappy bird

    Life is tough!!

So we are still tossing a coin for Sturridge/ Suarez?

@Epicfail - Something changed by that Members' article which I can't read or you're expecting both to start upfront?

Eriksen probably should.. the rest are very average.

Hmmm. Perhaps I should just leave him be on my squad and re-assess after the weekend. Not sure I much like him on the flank though. Really thinking of switching him out for Paulinho.

Don't think Pau is worth a transfer.. Eriksen could just as well play and score.
          Paulinho has awful shooting.
Better off saving the transfer imo.

So this is how it is:

    Marshal/Speroni - it's fine there
Ivanovic/Sagna/Vlaar/Bardsley/Hudson ------- Bardsley has 2 blanks, Hudson out for season.
Hazard/Mata/Lallana/Eriksen/Mutch ------- Eriksen out of favour, Mutch keeps getting injured.
Suarez/Ade/Rooney ----------- hate having Rooney, but I'm stuck with him for now.

I have 2 FTs and 0.2 in the bank. I'd like to roll 1 FT until gw 29 at least.

So is it better to offload Hudson or Bardsley first since they won't play for a while, or stick with those 3 playing defenders and sell Eriksen for someone like Ince?

    Marshall
    Kos - Bruce - Burner
Hazard (vc) - Silva - Mata - Eriksen
    Suarez (c) - JRod - Sturridge

    Mannone - Ward - Coleman - Ki

    2 x FT and 2.8m ITB

JRod > Adebayor for 1 x FT, carry the other?

Depends if Chester starts or not. Regardless, he will most likely blank in 29 so I'd ship him. If you wanna keep the cash u can get Chambers instead but depends how nailed on you think he is.

JROd has got better fixtures than Ade..I wouldn't want to use up a transfer to remove a player who has definite GW29 fixture for Ade who is playing Chelsea.Plus anyways you would want to use another transfer to change him to Aguero.
