Thirty-one points back on my co-host Granville, alas he still seems out of range as my comeback bid seems too little, too late. It might be a similar story for this week’s guest, as Luke Williams, aka d1salbe, remains just over thirty points shy of top spot in the Sky Sports game, with a glittering prize of £30k within tantalising reach.

Jonty joins us to put Luke through his paces with community questions, after Granville and I tackle the ScoutCast regulars, talk over the Moyes ejection, next season’s targets and absent feline friends.

As before, you can view the full cast via the YouTube movie linked below, or stick with the traditional podcast audio and treat your ears to the edited “Director’s Cut” via this link or the handy player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Call me crazy but I'm on -4 and comtemplating -8 with Cahill-->Kosc.

Chelsea's rotation and Europe burnout plus Arsenal good fixtures until the end.

1st year chasing in ML and I get like this.

    Would leave me with:

    Adrian
    Baines, Kosc, Chambers
    Ramsey, Eriksen, Gerrard, Mata
    Suarez, Aguero, Rooney

    Davis; Colback, Chester, Turner

    next week:
    Adrian-->DDG
    Turner/Baines-->Demi
    Gerrard-->Nasri/Yaya

I did the exact same move after buying both Rooney and Ramsey for a 4 point hits. then i realized my double Chelsea defense looked bad for this week and i had to get rid of one of them.

      Lukaku > Rooney
      Silva > Ramsey
      Cahill > Kos

I'm sitting on a 8 points hit atm.

Chelsea could easily hold Liverpool to zero goals. Plus, Cahill is a goal threat defender.....at least he used to be. He might be the very definition of due, as much as I understand some people don't like that whole "a player is due" notion. I have him and will gladly play him.

I wanted to get Rooney, but might there not be a sneaking suspicion of possible toe issues? I've decided to wait on picking him up until we get tomorrow's info. I'll pay the extra no problem in return for greater knowledge on the situation. I really think he'll play, but I decided to go the safer route and wait.

    Morning all

Does anyone know what's happened to Scott Sinclar? He was great at Swansea, sat on the bench for a year at City and seems to have fallen into a black hole at West Brom. 301 minutes on the pitch all season so far! Has he been injured or just totally out of favour with the managers?

Not a bad option, but Lukaku is inconsistent and tends to lose form just when you think he'll sustain it. I already have Suarez (duh) and Kun, and when you factor in the upcoming double gameweek and the bump that comes from new managers, I can't afford not to have a player like Rooney.

Whether you respect the MLS or not (most people around here don't seem to), I really like the way they do bonus points in their fantasy league. There is no limit to the players who can get bonus. And, as long as they keep meeting the requirements in a game, there is no limit to how much a players' bonus can rise. Basically, every player who deserves it gets rewarded accordingly.

No, i can't complain about points for saves but, even that number of saves alone demonstrates how big a part he played in the game. Had it been a 4-0 loss instead of beating the second ranked team in the land at their park i would understand. Water under bridge now.

Man o man alive, I'm in the middle of watching that, but wanted to come back ASAP to post. He really is a talent. I'm always surprised how much the Brits get on him. I don't think England is going to produce a talent like that for a while. I can't think of one..........and, no, I'm not sold on Barkley being the guy. Sure, Barkley is good and has a positive looking future, but you either have what Rooney has or you don't in the long run.

Maybe he's lost some of his edge, which would be natural. But he's still cream of the crop. Few players work as hard and can finish as well. Or deliver a ball as well.......etc, etc. For some reason, however, some seem reserved when it comes to giving him his just due. Not necessarily saying you are. I just hear it all the time around here. Peeps in England will be sad when he retires. I really don't know of anyone coming up behind him with half the talent he has today.

Thought I'd do a points analysis for the key captaincy options this week based on the type of opposition they face. Rooney, Ramsey and Aguero are the key protagonists as they face seemingly easy opposition. I have left out Suarez because he is up against Chelsea, a top side with one of the best defensive records in the premier league. Others around these parts have already noted his troubles against the elite sides this season.

    Aguero

    Bottom 13 sides

    7.3 points per game
    9.5 points per 90 minutes
77 minutes played per start (average)
    8.1 points per 77 minutes

    Top 7 sides

    7.6 points per game
    11 points per 90 minutes
73 minutes played per start (average)
    8.9 points per 73 minutes

    Ramsey

    Bottom 13 sides

    7.6 points per game
    8.9 points per 90 minutes
82 minutes played per start (average)
    8.1 points per 82 minutes

    Top 7 sides

    3.9 points per game
    4.3 points per 90 minutes
    90 minutes played per start

    Rooney

    Bottom 13 sides

    7.9 points per game
    8.9 points per 90 minutes
87 minutes played per start (average)
    8.9 points per 87 minutes

    Top 7 sides

    3.4 points per game
    3.4 points per 90 minutes
    90 minutes played per start

    Conclusion for bottom 13 opposition

From this analysis Rooney comes out on top with 7.9 points per game against poor opposition just beating Ramsey (7.6) and Aguero (7.3) respectively. He also came out on top when averaging their pp90 over their average minutes per start. Rooney scored 8.9pp 87mins compared to Aguero 8.1pp 77mins and Ramsey 8.1pp 82mins.

    Analysis for top 7 opposition

Aguero was head and shoulders above Rooney and Ramsey, in fact it suggest Aguero does slightly better against tough opposition than easier opposition with a phenomenal 11pp90 and 7.6ppg. He certainly would be a great captaincy rival to Suarez and co. no matter who the opposition is.

          RAMSEY

          - 1 Goal, 3 Assists and 2 Bonus points in the last 3 Games. ( 134 / 270 minutes played )
In fantastic form since his return
          - Playing NEW at home.
          - Arsenal have scored 1.5 goals per game in the last 6 games
          - Have averaged 2.7 goals per game in the last 6 HOME games
          - 27.1% Ownership

Play a side in awful form at home, and now with Arsenal back to full strength, looks a great bet for Captaincy this week.

NEWCASTLE - Conceded 11 goals in the last 4 games
          - Conceded 7 goals in the last 4 AWAY games.

Don't have anything on Aguero sorry 😆 But,

I think an in - form Ramsey with an Arsenal side practically back to full strength VS Newcastle at home is a much better bet than Aguero without Yaya & Silva vs Palace away. You gotta remember the reverse fixture AT THE ETIHAD when City were scoring like crazy was only 1-0 to City. Palace are no pushovers.

The fact that Palace are now safe makes me think otherwise. Not sure they will fight as desperately as they have been and now they face an elite attacking force. Its a close call between Aguero and Ramsey.

Actually, he has done better than I thought. I saw some post earlier about how he hasn't scored many goals against the likes of Citeh and Chelsea etc. He did quite a lot better against the likes of Spurs and Everton to make up for it however. Here is the stats

        Suarez

        Top 7

        7.9 points per game
        7.9 points per 90 minutes
        90 minutes played per start

I think its important to point out that Chelsea is a very different beast to Everton and Spurs. This is why I focused this investigation on the bottom 13 which is probably a better comparison to make than the top 7.

No I don't quite agree to the same extent. Mainly because at the moment Southampton and any other mid table club are potentially easier opposition than those nearer the relegation zone fighting for survival. Hence the interested Arsenal vs Newcastle game being a potentially easier match than the City vs Crystal Palace game.

Of course an argument can be made about the relative merits of Norwich and Sunderland being tough at the moment perhaps compared to Newcastle and Stoke who are mid table.

agree with this, motivation is a huge factor now as we have seen with the likes of norwich and sunderland who have been looking much stronger than newcastle etc the last couple weeks.

Yes, but Newcastle have been shit ever since Cabaye left, so their position in the table is inflated compared to what would be likely with the current squad. Also, you're basing this on results in the past, so of course it's relevant.

So after pressers I'm likely doing Suarez + Lukaku > Rooney + Podolski for -8 (did Gerrard > Ramsey already on Monday).

It's totally not worth it to do Ward > Kosc for another -4 right?

    Rest of team is:
    Speroni
    Chester - Baines - Ivan - Cahill
    Nasri - Eriksen - Mata - Noone
    Aguero

I see Suarez getting 10-15 points max over the next two matches. Lukaku is just on a whim (plus I don't really trust him as an FPL prospect when other options are available).

could be, or could be a masterstroke..nothing to lose! I'm 42 points clear of 3rd place and 28 points behind 1st place and only 3 weeks to go!

also technically Podolski has to outscore Lukaku by 4 and Rooney to outscore Suarez by 4.

will pull the trigger tomorrow so still more time to think it over but I think I'm doing it..go big or go home! (especially since my rival just keeps trying to cover me)

This is not a good move for -8. sure as you say it COULD pay off and score big for you but you could say that about any decision, I'm sure someone captained Punch 3 weeks in a row and cleaned up - doesn't make them a genius.

I'm getting both Rooney and Podolski in for hits and getting rid of Lukaku, but Christ, don't get rid of Suarez. If you're intent on using another hit then maybe look at your Chelsea defence

I mean you'd be using 2 transfers (at least one being a hit) that could be used to greater effect in other areas of your team IMO, with a DGW coming up.

Looks like your mind's made up, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find many people on here that agree with you. Good luck anyway, I have a lot of your boys too!

there's no other move that has bigger upside potential. it's very, very possible that Suarez puts up almost nothing over the next two weeks despite 'the trend'. A Chelsea CS wouldn't totally surprise me and Palace won't make it easy

Things that could upset a lot of people this weekend:

      1. Chelsea clean sheet v Pool, playing all the likely subjects
      2. Ramsey blank v Newcastle

Earlier I posted that I thought it'd be fun if we could trial a Mark Lawrenson-esque game, like he does on the BBC website, until the end of the season and possibly do it next season as well.

Basically each week you have to predict the scores for the gameweek. You get 3 points for a correct score and 1 point for a correct result.

I'll total up the points for everyone, and reveal the overall winner each gameweek and at the end of the season.

    Here's a link to everyone else's predictions, if you want to take part, please post your predictions here;

Great idea for a game! Something short and
snappy that rhymes with picks would be good.
Can anyone think of something short and snappy that rhymes with picks?

A for effort Sarjeant but that's an awful lot like SUPER6, where you can win £250,000.
It's just they only feature six games and have 5 points for a correct score and two for a correct result.
