Did you enter our cup competitions this year and get knocked out by a nobody before you could even get going? Is your mini-league all but tied up or desperately out of your reach? Are you languishing in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) doldrums and already dreaming of next season?

Don’t give up just yet, we’ve got one final gameweek of action to take in before Fantasy Football takes a summer vacation. This last week of action also affords Fantasy Managers one last shot at success, a chance for redemption, as the “Last Chance Saloon” opens up for another year and calls out for a victor.

The rules are simple: One gameweek, the highest score(*) wins…

One final chance for the victory lap is but a click away. If you think you can beat Mark, Granville, myself (not difficult) and all the many folks so far in the fray then the pride being a Fantasy Football Scout champion will be yours to keep forever. All for 90 minutes of Sunday afternoon toil. Quicker than a roast dinner.

This little end of season competition is a light-hearted and high-spirited affair, with pride the only prize on offer. Victory however, would be a timely boost and will send one Fantasy Manager into the summer break with bragging rights and heightened expectations for next season. So saddle up your best steed, the code for entry into this league is below.

32-501665.

Good luck to all. Just not too much, I’ve had to relinquish two big crowns this season so I’m playing to win.

(*)anyone entering a fresh team for the final gameweek will be discounted as not in tone with the competition.

Anyone thinking of taking a punt on Owen this week, could be a great differential for those who are chasing.

Well Pav obviously has to go, how about:

      Pav>Berba

      Then just field

      Foster
      huth luiz walker
      adam nzog lamps vdv
      rvp Drogba Berba

      Yaya Coleman subs

      Think that'd be fine imo!

Silva sounds like he's out and is another blow for me. If Huth doesn't play, Mark gets Walker for 7 points off his bench. Squeeky bum last gameweek again.

The problem was getting too cocky 😉

One of my mates was about 60-80 points behind me very early on in the season and kept asking me for advice, which I gave. He then caught up to within about 10 points and it was like he had overtaken me. So so cocky. He's now about 180 points behind 🙂

Tip: Don't get cocky until it's won!

I had a 100 point lead on one of my friends around GW7 and charitably did his wildcard team for him, he then overtook my 3 weeks later. Never again.

He would have probably overtaken me at one point if he had followed all the advice. I told him to get N'Zogbia in, for his first (or one of his first) 15 point hauls and he didn't, and the week before/after I told him another player who I forget, and he too got 15 points. I didn't follow my own advice though....

    GW38 is definitely a killer...
    Current team:
    Foster/Kingson

    Luiz/Carr/Simpson/Ferdinand/Kelly

    Adam/Yaya/VDV/Nani/Malouda

    Tevez/RVP/Suarez

My defense is obviously terrible..and so is Suarez...

Good idea to save your wildcard, you can carry it over to next season. And if you don't use any next season you'll have five for 2012/13 and if you don't use them you'll have seven for 2013/14 - if you are really clever you can get an exponential growth of wildcards and by 2030 you can have a wildcard for EVERY week.

I argued earlier in the season that this might be a reason why there seems to be such a reversal of fortunes this year between people who take lots of hits and people who take few. The reason being that if there are fewer points out there to be had the relative "cost" of a 4 point hit is greater. Nobody seemed to agree though.

For example there were lots of people in the top 50 last year who'd taken lots of hits but if you look at it this year it's the more cautious players that are by and large doing better.

The general consensus on MW3 seems to be that because Treyarch is developing the online it won't be as good. Aside from OMA/tubes, most people seem to really dislike Blackops, and much prefer MW2.

It's still using the IW engine but apparently so was Blackops. Most people I've heard talking about it/read, are more looking forward to Battlefield 3 than MW3.

I must admit I prefer MW2 a lot more than blackops.

I couldn't cope with the noobing/claymores etc. on MW2. Scavenger and OMA made it so easy to set up with essentially unlimited grenades and claymores.

Because I play HC SnD the most, the most annoying thing is tubing spawn points. It means the opposite team forces you to go in certain directions. Very annoying.

The problem with the whole series is the twats who play it. MW2 is a superior game to the Battlefield series, but you get far less nobheads on there so the online game is more enjoyable.

You've just summed up exactly why I thought MW2 was pretty crap. Completely unbalanced game, and total nobs playing the game abused the shit out of OMA and the likes.

Whenever you joined a game and the team was getting battered it was pretty impossible to do anything but die over and over, with a bloody chopper gunner, AC-130, 2 Harrier's etc all nailing you at the same time.

OOOOHHHH, and the CONSTANT no scoping from people was annoying as hell too.

2 shots, all pretty random, all miss, and the the 3rd kills you and the person then thinks they're amazing. Didn't like that game much at all.

Indeed. It got to stage where every time I joined a game halfway through, I'd start with my ghost class, to hopefully avoid getting absolutely destroyed by the stuff in the air.

Ground War is the worst like that, and that's the game type I usually play.

MW2 was the worst CoD in the recent series, in my opinion, and
CoD 4 (MW1) was the best by an absolute mile. It was pretty much perfect, and they tried to change the game around faaaar too much in MW2 for my liking.

I guess most of us have a terrible team for this week. What are you guys planning? I think I have to get rid of Drogba, Rooney and VdV. Been looking at prospects like Suarez, Tevez, Berbatov, Bent and Nani.

Defense needs a lot of work too, but I don't think there's any point in using transfers on defenders for this last GW.

    Brief season review.

Player I most regret ignoring for bulk of the season: Baines

Bandwagons missed out on: Berbatov's 25,17 and 17 point hauls, early stages of VDV

Season Saving Bandwagons: Tevez (Aug-Feb), Malouda, Nasri & Carroll early doors, RVP & Odem late doors, Nani throughout

    Best Captaincy picks: Nasri GW16, Rooney GW25 & 28

Worst (outcomes only): Torres GW20, Tevez (Missed penalty/chances-gate)

Best captaincy - Tevez hat trick, Rooney 18 pointer in the double, VDV when he first came back from injury after xmas

I think the most I've had off the bench this season is an 8 from Dempsey (not bored enough to actually go and check). So either I've not placed the subs in the right order, picked the right players every week, or just had a poor squad all season.

I'm going for the latter 🙂

Fairly average, I've only 10.4%, but then the captaincy is more important. My captaincy is a low 49.8% whereas yours is a better 53%, that's one of the reasons why you are much better ranked than me.

Well that and you've generally picked better sides than me helps too.

Okay so, so far its been a good end to the season going from 90 points behind the leader of my work league to second and just 20 behind in 3-4 gameweeks....

    Current outfield team is:

Fabio, Kolarov, Luiz, Johnson R, Walker
    Lampard, O'Hara, Kuyt, Modirc, Silva
    Van Persie, Rooney, Odemwingie

Thinking Rooney to Berbatov and then considering if need to take 4 point hit and for who with so many away players and a few uncertainties....any thoughts or suggestions?

Rooney Berbs is a solid move as would Silva to N'Zogbia be but if you can field a team of 11 what with the potential attacking returns from your Def. then you might be better playing it safe... let your rivals take the hits and sweat.

When United field an ‘under strength’ XI against Blackpool, they should be fined as Blackpool were.

Personally, I think it is a scandalous decision. If you have a squad of 25 you should be allowed to use whoever you want. However, for the sake of consistency the FA have to fine United, they have shot themselves in the foot with their original decision. If they do not fine them it makes them look even worse with the ‘favouritism towards the bigger clubs’ argument coming to the fore once again. Surely they cannot look at the possibility of a rule change until the end of the season.

Exactly, and why were United not fined for playing an understrength side in the champions league semi. Because of the 25 man squad, you can play who you want.

I think that whatever team SAF puts out they'll have more than enough motivation to hammer Blackpool - spots in the CL final up for grabs, I suspect the FA might only elect to make an issue out of it if Blackpool win.

I think the Premier League have to change the rule at the end of the season, the 25 man squad makes the rule absolutely ridiculous.

I doubt Fergie will really care about some small fine though, he's got far more important things to be concentrating on.

Hypothesis that proposes that athletes have different personality traits from non-athletes because of a process of natural selection:

Individuals who are stable extroverts tend to gravitate towards sport and competition causes all but the keenest competitors to withdraw so that those who adhere to sport tend to have the greatest levels of extroversion and stability.

Flatmate has been ahead of me since GW1 finally getting close to pegging him back. He's 18 ahead of me now with Silva, Yaya, Huth and Hart vs my Kolorov.
Also if anybody misses out from that lot he only has 1 more point to come off the bench.
So Kolorov, I'm praying to you, get that double figure score you have the potential to and make my last week interesting.

PLEASE let that happen! iv got silva and kolarov, needs KOL to score well, and SILVA not to play so D.Bent can come on!

Think at home they will keep clean sheet, and with tevez back i think kol can manage an assist, especially if he plays left win for silva....
