The “Last Chance Saloon” League

Did you enter our cup competitions this year and get knocked out by a nobody before you could even get going? Is your mini-league all but tied up or desperately out of your reach? Are you languishing in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) doldrums and already dreaming of next season?

Don’t give up just yet, we’ve got one final gameweek of action to take in before Fantasy Football takes a summer vacation. This last week of action also affords Fantasy Managers one last shot at success, a chance for redemption, as the “Last Chance Saloon” opens up for another year and calls out for a victor.

The rules are simple: One gameweek, the highest score(*) wins…

One final chance for the victory lap is but a click away. If you think you can beat Mark, Granville, myself (not difficult) and all the many folks so far in the fray then the pride being a Fantasy Football Scout champion will be yours to keep forever. All for 90 minutes of Sunday afternoon toil. Quicker than a roast dinner.

This little end of season competition is a light-hearted and high-spirited affair, with pride the only prize on offer. Victory however, would be a timely boost and will send one Fantasy Manager into the summer break with bragging rights and heightened expectations for next season. So saddle up your best steed, the code for entry into this league is below.

            I would love to see auto subs stats. Points earned from players sitting on your bench. Our mini league leader seems to pick up big points so often. This week it's Dawson 2nd sub.

    30 odd team Mini league sewn up (I am 160 points ahead of 2nd) but will prob be a few points behind the leader for the May manager of the month prize unless Kolarov does something tonight...so I would like to win that...

      Mids: Maxi, Sessegnon, Larsson as differentials (for either VDV or Silva)

      Strikers: Fletcher, Ba, Campbell (for Odem)

      There was lots of Kolarov hype before then, I remeber touting him on the Kolo Toure watchlist article at the end of September, but most of those replies aren't cached by google so I can't now find it.

        True, people were always looking at getting him in at some stage, even when he was injured during the first part of the season.

        It does annoy me when people criticise the Kolarov bandwagon, because there was definitely some logic to it. Unlike some of the other failed bandwagons, and even some of the bandwagons that actually worked! Dempsey captain in the double, for example. 😉

      Are you going to be around at all between tomorrow and the deadline? Because I'd want to wait on some news RE van der Vaart's injury. No sense in getting rid of Yaya/Silva ahead of someone who turns out to be injured.

              It means in 56% of the cases you selected your highest scoring player in your starting XI as your capt.

    I see on my history that I got a top 1k finish in 06/07, but with a very low score. There must've been only one man and his dog playing it back then?

      I finished 1,223th with 2063pts, I guess that is a pretty low total. I guess the lack of auto-captain back then may have made a little difference? Can't really remember if there were any other less-scoring rules.

    Bit early but who's in your thoughts for next year?

    Taraabt - but is he Mid or For? How much will he be?
    Suarez - but how much will he be?
    RVP - surely a must if fit
    Rooney - as per RVP?

    Its always going to be difficult at the start of the season because prices will be adjusted according to last season's form and you've only got £100m again.

    Players like Adam (if in the prem) and Hernandez will be a lot higher priced reflecting his points this year...

        Yes, and generally by the time you've got the 4 players I mentioned plus one or two other decent ones, there won't be much money left for defenders...Foley and Simpson here we come (again!)

              Just install firefox add-on greasemonkey, then install the script “razza’s fantasy premierleague” and then a button comes up on your score history to analyse it!

      I honestly think id have at least a 1000 point lead at the top if id had better captain choices :p Im 860th in the overall rankings. I dont think ive had more than 12 points from my captain all season and thats once its been doubled!

    I need a Hangeland-esque performance from Lescott today to stand a good chance of winning my Mini league. After Saturday, i closed the gap to 25 and with 9 players to play on Sunday. He only had 7 to play on Sunday. Hangeland screwed me over and the lead is back up to 40. Cruel game.

    IM confused, last year my total score was 2172 with a rank of 104,048. This year my current score is only 2058 yet my rank is a lot higher (10,727). Seems odd! Are people not as good this year?
