Premier League Fixtures Announced

The Premier League fixture list for 2014/15 was published earlier today at 9am, affording Fantasy managers an early window into the season ahead. Behind the scenes, we’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day and aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season:

Looking at the first few fixtures, Louis Van Gaal could hardly ask for a kinder start to life at Old Trafford. The new United boss entertains Swansea in his first league match in charge and with trips to Sunderland and Burnley preceding the visit of promoted Burnley and a trip to Leicester, early investment in the Red Devils assets looks on the cards, with Robin Van Persie’s appeal certainly heightened by such a schedule.

Defending champions Man City have a tougher task. Manuel Pellegrini’s men face three of last term’s top four in the first five Gameweeks – an opener at Newcastle is then followed with Etihad showdowns against Liverpool and Stoke, with a trip to Arsenal then preceding the visit of Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho’s side have reason for optimism in the first few matches. The Blues have three very kind fixtures in the first four Gameweeks – an opening day trip to Burnley is followed by a home clash with Leicester and with Swansea also visiting the Bridge in Gameweek 4, they could be amongst the Fantasy points at both ends of the pitch.

Liverpool open their season with an Anfield encounter against Southampton before hitting the road in three of the next four Gameweeks – trips to City, Spurs and West Ham present Brendan Rodgers’ troops with a far from straightforward schedule.

Everton don’t have it easy either. The Toffees welcome Arsenal and Chelsea to Goodison in the first three Gameweeks, though Roberto Martinez’ team will be optimistic, given they were victorious in the corresponding fixtures in 2013/14. A Merseyside derby at Anfield in Gameweek 6 is also testing.

Paul Lambert’s Villa face a tough task to get their season off to a prosperous start. An opening day to the Britannia is followed by games against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and City in the opening seven Gameweek, while promoted Leicester hardly have it easy, either. The Foxes face Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and United in the first five and with a trip to Stoke also included in that run, points look hard to come by.

We plan to focus on the schedule in further detail over the next few days, with a first “Frisking the Fixtures” article of the 2014/15 season rolled out in the next day or two.

I am on my phone, and can't really access the Maccy D site here. 😐

And yeah, my score is 106, and I faced Juan Carlos who has a 130+ score, so you can already give him the point there. (If Team Spain turns up, of course. 😉 )

I have talked to Pompeyfan, and he can't update the stuff either, 'coz he is on road.

Australia have the home hemisphere advantage over the Netherlands for this upcoming match.

Australia's land abounds in natures gifts of beauty rich and rare. Netherlands DO NOT.

Australia IS girt by sea. The Netherlands IS NOT girt by anything.

Australia have scored in every World Cup game under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Australia have NEVER lost a World Cup Final. Netherlands have lost it THREE times.

I guess the manner of defeat is the main difference.

Anyway , it seems most teams are fully prepared to counter the style Spain plays, so they would need to change their tactics , which isn't likely. They can turn around the group, but as soon as they meet a top team again, they'll be out.

‘most teams are fully prepared to counter the style Spain plays’

this is not true – very few teams could do what Holland did. even the germans would struggle.

I think it's like Breadbin wrote below, that style of play has been figured out, you still need a strong side to do so, but I don't think Germans would have a problem with that.

      No.

The loss to Switzerland was a cup upset. The loss to Netherlands was an embarrassing annihilation which exposed flaws in their system.

That way of playing has been exposed by top teams (Madrid v Bayern, Bayern pre Pep v Barca, Athletico v Barca). It was due for Spain also.

    MOTM Bets.

For those like me who can't see value in backing RVP/Robben due to such low odds a punt on Lens @ 10.5/1 is where my money will be going.

I think against Aus Holland will play 3 up top in Robben / RVP / Lens.

Lens is likely to play the full 90 more than Robben/RVP due to their importance.

he was 2nd top goalscorer behind RVP in qualifying and got the joint top assists. He also played joint most games in qualifiers too.

It's likely he will be able to get in amongst the goals against a poor Aus team and with 90 mins likely he could have 20-30 mins more playing time than Robben and Robin.

Lens @ 10.5/1 with Betsson is my punt.

If it's still voted for on Twitter, then Lens could score 2 and 2 assists while RVP scores 1 and RVP would still get MOTM as he's better known..

You could have said the same for Hazard last night.

Hazard played fairly well in general and also assisted the winning goal. Hazard has over 2million followers on twitter compared to KDB's 300-400k followers showing how much better known he is.

        Yet KDB won the MOTM.
