The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

He is aware that at the back he is relying heavily on clean sheets at Newcastle and West Brom. Any advice on improving his back-line would be appreciated. Also, is he right to opt for the expensive Daniel Sturridge? Will a lack of Arsenal cover come back to bite him?

      Davies looking uncertain - Rose might start.

      Unconvinced on Giroud and Silva - think there are better alternatives unless you're actively looking for a differential. Would go Nasri for Silva for starters.

    I think this opinion piece is a very good appraisal of the Chelsea defensive situation. Mainly talks about Ivanovic and his future as a CB.

      Looks good to me! I'm not sold on Bojan but nothing much else at that price point.

      Only alternative would be Ramsey in for Sanchez and upgrade to better forward.

    Reposting because bottom of the last page.

    How is this looking?

    Feeling pretty settled on it now. Only things I'm unhappy with are the Bojan punt and Rio/Mariappa rotation. Bojan can be dropped pretty easily for another 5.5 performing forward, but funds are too tight at the back to find a much better rotation, unless you have a suggestion?!

    I'm noticing that Bojan is in near enough every RMT, is he really that good of an option? I can't help but feel that he is a risk, being new to the league and in a team where they have a reputation of being poor away from home? I know he's cheap and has a decent set of fixtures, but with high ownership and being so cheap if he doesn't perform then there may be serious issues in shipping him out after a couple blanks.

        Fletcher rotates just as well and is a much safer pick (assuming Borini does not join Sunderland)

        I agree with Litt on this one, I'm not a huge fan of rotating attacking options, especially ones like Siggy who can end up leaving so many points on the bench.

    Did have Fabregas/Bartley/Yoshida but traded Fab down to Eriksen to upgrade to Clyne & Taylor, right move?

      Right move IMO. It looks more balanced now. Some are saying Cameron is unlikely to start.

        Yeah he is my worry, but I like they way STO/SWAN/SOU/TOT rotate for the first 10 or so weeks and I'm just gonna hope he'll be a starter, they other in defence seem pretty secure.

      Don't like the though of Luis or Azpi at the minute. Both too good for the bench but one will end up there and it could be either.

    I'm aware that I don't have strong subs, but the past few seasons I never play with mid-price/expensive subs.

      You won't want to play Bojan every week and Zamora won't be a regular starter.

    Thoughts would be much appreciated. Major tinkering areas for me have been Dzeko/Jovetic, Sterling/Eriksen. Also still unsure about my 'mid priced defender' to start every game (B.Davies ATM).

      Not sure if B Davies is a good option. Doesn't seem nailed on to start at Spurs yet. I'd consider someone else at that price.

      Cameron is also not nailed on, so I'd think about another 4.5 defender.

      Midfield looks great, as does attack. Just the defence that needs a few tweaks, in my view anyway. 🙂

      Nice team

      There are definitely more secure choices than Davies, but if he nails down a spot he'll be good value. If you want more security of starts, maybe look at Ward or Clyne?

    Im looking at getting Costa into my team to form a front three of Rooney, Giroud and Costa but Im having to juggle my mid and def to do it.

    Whats everyones view on him? His history except last year for Athletico is patchy at best and the bits Ive seen of him in the CL and World Cup make me doubt he is the real deal .... but then his friendly form for Chelsea has been excellent.

    What are others views on him, especially given Chesleas nice start to the season? If I dont have Costa I will have Hazard.

        Youve worked a good mid in there but your defence looks a little weak if Davies doesnt start as first choice - assuming the rest of your squad is bench fodder?

        Im just not convinced Costa is really worth it..

    Pretty set on the team but any advice is always handy. Aiming to break the top 10k this season for the 1st time ever..... :-/

    Sanchez - Rambo - Mata - Siggy - Albrighton
    Roonpig - Costa - Bojan

    1. Krul & Mannone are place holders. Haven't decided who makes it to GK yet but it'll be a £9m rotating pair.

    2. Sanchez & Rambo seems overkill I know but I want both despite the fixtures not being favourable. Easy to replace if I feel the need with a wealth of options.

    3. Bartley is a possible for me if Swansea don't replace Chico. I'm monitoring the situation.

    4. Bojan has been tasty pre season to be fair so worth a risk I think as my 3rd striker.

      Yeah, looks pretty good. You have some flexibility with Sanchez and Ramsey, and can swap one out for a better performing mid if needed (especially with 0.5 banked). As for Bojan, he looks as good as any 5.5 forward at the moment.

            I wanted some Swansea cover as they've got good opening fixtures. Bony would have been ideal but I don't have the cash so hoping to get some assist points and the odd goal from Sigurdsson instead.

      chelsea defenders will be rotated. Go for Iva OR azpi. Ozil isnt playing the first match at least, and its disaster to not have Rooney up front. Barkley have some crappy fixtures to begin with and so does Lukaku also ofc. Get Rooney in, drop Iva or Azpi, and take it from there, imo. 🙂

      Are you rotating Siggy and Bojan for the bench? Tidy team, but as with so many only diffs are at the back and I don't see you running away with any ML you're in. On the upside, you won't be far behind either.
      Maybe a good strategy to see how players work out and find the different players later.

    Btw, cant actually see any team without Toure. If he "flops" (read; Sanchez gets it going for real, Toure is out). But for now i think a safe, but exp, option, is Toure... Dropping Fabregas for Ramsey, since it mihgt look like Fab could be rotated and or playing besides Matic. Also think Oscar should be monitored in the first match (if he plays ofc) 🙂

      a good team. But having none city players cant be smart in the long run. they score every match and will for sure be top2 at the end of the season. just saying, sooner or later u need a city striker/mid. IMO 🙂

        Agree with this. Shaw's attacking record actually pretty poor - would save yourself the 0.5 and reinvest on upgrade to Upson/Bruce.
