The Premier League have confirmed to us this afternoon that their Fantasy game is in the final stages of testing for the new season but will not be going live today.

The game and site have been enhanced and, while things are almost complete, there are still some minor browser issues that need to be ironed out before the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) site can launch.

We can take this opportunity to dispel a number of rumours that have cropped up in recent days and confirm that all is well with the FPL and that the game will be free to play. There are also a number of significant improvements that we feel will be greeted with a very positive response from players and, in particular, our community; having voiced strong opinions on certain features of the game, you have helped influence some of the changes introduced.

We will endeavour to bring you details of those changes and any update on the release date. One of the benefits of our new relationship with the FPL is that visitors to Fantasy Football Scout will get information and enjoy a two-way relationship with the game organisers. This means that once the game is released and the new features announced, you can rely on us to feedback your reactions to the changes.

The difficult thing for dalglish and Liverpool is that they are going to be compared with what they have done in their glory years. The difficulty now is that they are up against 2 of the richest clubs in world football and and one of the best teams of the modern era. Tough competition

Isn't it obvious to everyone here that Mark and the scouts are under an NDA with "FPL Towers"?

I think that things will be improved for the people who have signed up as paying members since Mark has consistently assured us paying members that this community will not suffer from an influx of non-paying members and that the forums will be restructured to ensure this. I truly believe that Mark and the scouts have thought about this and plan to make the necessary changes.

And what is the point of disguising your name and hiding your linked team? Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Anyone who has posted on here since the site began and linked their team has run the risk of any of their mini-league competitors being able to read all the publicly available articles without registering, and also being able to click on your name to find out if it is indeed one of their rivals who is posting here. Nothing changes with the new affiliation with FPL.

The risk is only if you make it clear that you have made a decision on what transfers/sub order/captain choice you have made before the gameweek begins, and if your rivals copy that then if you're wrong then they'll be wrong too. So where is the risk?

I really find it hard to believe some of the sentiments expressed in a lot of the comments I've just waded through. Complaining that your rivals may have access to the same info as you do (before it's even clear what that information will be) and that is somehow "Bad" is akin to admitting that you don't really have the balls to compete on a level playing field.

So grow some.

Please, please say it's the option for a DRAFT with unique squads for private leagues!! It's all I ever wanted... so much so that our league added our own draft onto the premier league site... just used a Google spreadsheet to maintain rosters. (If anyone is interested in the spreadsheet for use in your own league, let me know!)
