Not sure of that. I made the transfer and am happy to gain value from Naismith and save the 0.5. Even if Bojan performs, I can't be bothered to rotate Siggy. Naismith is a great price and will mostly enjoy sitting on my bench and torturing me with unclaimed points, though.

You can't make 0.1 up from Naismith if he only rises 0.1. He has to raise 0.2 to make a return of 0.1 is you intend to transfer after the hypothetical rise

rises are also slower this year, not like last season. I suppose it should mean that team values will not differ so much towards the end. you still get -4 for each hit though..

adding 2 & 2 : taking a hit for team value pays off less this season than the previous

    Hazard Ramsey Sterling Mirallas/Eriksen Siggy
    Rooney Aguero

^^this. 'Essential' is such an overused term.

I would suggest that there is a very strong case to go with a 352 formation. If that means dropping Costa and backing a Chelsea mid instead then so be it.

I'm still trying to make sense of the Rojo acquisition, who is also best suited as LWB, when Shaw has the position nailed down, well supposedly. As a CB Rojo is notorious for picking up cards, getting caught out of position from his meandering attacking wanderings, think he may even have been the most carded player in the past 2 years in the Primeira Liga.
So this brings the potential transfer of Di Maria into the equation. Arguably his best position is a left wing back / left wing, which will not bode well with either Shaw, Januzaj or Young. Yes he can play CM but this position may hinder his pace and attacking prowess.

I thought DiM is primarily a winger - can't see clearly how he fits into a 352 system - can he really operate as a wingback? If so then Shaw is superfluous except for League Cup ties and flat-track bully fixtures.

Rojo is, bottom line, an upgrade on Smalling. Hardly the 'final piece', but a back line of Jones, Evans and Rojo ought to be a bit less scary.

Too much emphasis is being put on the formation. DiM is an outstanding player who will improve United, no question about it. The fact he can play CM as well as on the wing is also an important bonus. It means he can play in numerous formations.

Not many differential midfielders putting their hands up to be picked, or mid priced strikers. Was hoping to move Mata to a bandwagon if he fails today. Maybe Lamela will do something

too many good midfield options with high ownership

with chelsea fixtures stiffening i think costa could be moved for kun/rvp as a diff. third striker is also a slot to go different imo

Hate to state the obvious but United are going to implode and go bankrupt, sure i might be a bit biased in saying that but look at their stupid spending combined with their still existent loan debt... 120k pw for shaw, 50 mil on two defenders... 30 mil on herrera, and apparently soon to come 100 mil + in signings including Di Maria, benatia, Blind and co. all on ridiculous wages....

Do you know how much money United earn each year? its all very well stating current depts and spending habits but its meaningless if you can't measure it against gross earnings.

Current Debt is 390 mil, Revenue Last year was 150 mil, now add in ridiculous spending (and huge additions to wage which will crush revenue) in and see what's going to happen as revenue will drop with no UCL... Now lets see what happens if they miss out on UCL again.. Disaster...

United do have the resources for this...

The problem from this kind of spending comes 2-3yrs down the line when it becomes very difficult to move the flops on.

Exactly they can afford it for now through loans.. they have no money, and with 390 mil debt, and 150 mil revenue last year when they had UCL, it spells trouble without it and with these huge costs their adding..

they have huge commercial revenue, TV revenues for the whole league were massively increased last year (all the teams are spending - even Everton can afford 30mln for lukaku), and they signed a monstrous 750m sponsership contract.

they have the resources. debt is manageable.

Risk/reward. In UFPL, you need to find a balance with a good start. You would think at least one of the United pair would get 6. Perhaps give 1 a game.

Hey lads, just got two questions:

    A) Where should I go from here?

    Krul

    Jones, Azpil, Clyne

    Lamela, Mata, Silva, Ramsey

    Rooney, Costa, Bojan
    _____________________________________

    BENCH: Foster, Naylor, Wisdom, Marney

Currently have two FTs, looking at trading out Bojan and Lamela depending on how they play today...

    B) Is Rojo expected to start this week? Currently have Jones on the field but Naylor as my first sub, so I'm hoping Jones gets benched...

    Cheers!

Yeah, that's what I'm planning on doing. FT for Costa-->Aguero. Hopefully, Willian's out for a while. Can only help Schurrle's minutes.

Looks like the Serbian man beast is becoming a must have defender based off what we've seen so far. He could have racked up 30+ points last night! I can get him in but need to take a hit, and will most likely have to drop Eriksen

So thoughts on which mid to bring in under 6.0? Already got the usual suspects of Siggy, Ramsey, Mata, Sterling

Got Rooney, Costa and that flop Bojan upfront

Thinking of a punt on JWP or Ince? Any others?

He usually starts off the season well, but is never a 'must have' (actually, no one is ever a must have). If you don't have him already, don't bother. Once the Capital One Cup and Champion's League commence, Mou's squad, especially the back four, will be subject to rotation.

Not worth taking a hit to bring him in.

Hard to know how mailed on they are at that price.

Ince might drop deeper if Hull buy anyone with the Long money. JWP is looking good now but might be rotated later. The most nailed on ones are often in the promoted teams, like Mutch.

ok ill hold off for now ... i dont mind taking hits when they are worth it btw. I'm a bit worried about Eriksen though, looked a bit off last week. See how he goes tonight I guess then see if its worth keeping him or not

more information required. very interested to see how the sp*rs players perform, and the aguero situation.

352 does tempt me, however in that formation one of the front 8 is always benched (e.g. Siggy/Naismith) whereas in the balanced approach, they play more often as Ivan is always playing.
