Need advice because my bad start means I'm hovering around the 1m mark, and yes I know one good GW changes everything but I think the team is a mess.

    DDG Hamer
    Baines Clyne Chester Hutton PvA
    Hazard Mata Siggy Henderson 4.5
    Jovetic Rooney Dzeko

Worth a WC, or just a hit? Done Lamela -> Siggy already (Lamela may have played well but I'll put him on the "monitor" list for now, QPR were horrendous) and not sure how to change things?

jovetic would be my forst concern, then henderson, then baines

but no it doesnt need a wc

de Gea will come good, injuries at both centre-back and wing-back aren't helping but once they return I think United will be ok defensively.

The defence looks fine, wouldn't have picked Baines initially, but you've got him now so may as well keep, too much of a hassle getting how out now and then back in GW8.

Midfield is decent, only real issue is no Ramsey, if you have the money then Henderson to him looks like your best bet.

Front line could do with some rejigging, maybe Jovetic to Naismith could enable you to do the move above.

Your team really isn't a mess, just needs a bit of fine tuning.

Don't worry - getting off to a great start is VASTLY overrated in the FPL community in my opinion.

Indeed, we're still at the point where one good GW can send you from, let's say, 100k to the top 5k. Important not to be too far out by ~GW10 though. It becomes much harder to climb the rankings then.

      1. SW6
        • 13 Years

        You're speaking the truth!

Gw10 is a milestone I too think it's sensible to approach your 'start' after. If you're not doing fairly well by then the very top positions are out of reach.

        1. SW6
          • 13 Years

Not impossible though. I went on a crazy run 2 season ago from 900k in GW15 and then by ~GW25 I was 20k

Yeap see above, I agree with you. Other option would be to consider one of Cesc/Costa due to difficulty of fixtures (eve, mcy, ARS) in the next 5 but Mata seems more logical. Will share points even more with Di Maria potentially (although the flipside is that United may start playing better).

Notes from today's game at the KC.

    1. I've got a really fat man sat next to me for the season. Overflowed onto my seat. He was nice enough at least.

    2. Robertson was immense on the left wing. Very pacey and attacking. I can see a couple of big hauls from him.

    3. McShane did an amazing job too. Michael Dawson seemed past his best when I watched him on TV last season (notably his performance against Man City). Not sure why we're signing him when we've got Chester and Davies who I think are both better, plus McShane and Bruce - decent back up, and Maguire who I haven't seen play yet.

    4. Everyone was whining about the throw-in going the wrong way. Although it was clearly a Hull throw in, it's not like Delap was in the team, and they should have dealt with it better. Stoke were piling on the pressure at that time and the goal was coming.

    5. Pleased that Jelavic scored, but we are missing a striker. There don't seem to be that many good ones about though. Rhodes has a decent record in the Championship and I'd welcome him to the KC as a replacement for Long.

Agreed with all four points, Robinson tempts me but the fixtures turn quite badly GW6.

      Cheers mate.

Point 2 piques my interest (for fantasy football), but otherwise I'm probably avoiding Hull this year.

    Mata owners.

Is United's performance not really off-putting? Or do you just see 10 points as reason enough to keep him?

Absolutely keep him. I don't have him but would keep him for the next few fixtures at least.

I can't sell him when he has Burnley, QPR, Leicester in his next 3 and has just scored, no matter how bad they looked. They can only get better.

I think this is the first time I've ever 100% agreed with you.

      Points are points really.

Fit example, Sturridge was anonymous against your gang but still got the points to keep owners happy. I'll hang on with the fixtures they have.

i just did Hazard to Mata. Di Maria would improve most, if not all, teams, it can only be good for Mata.

It's away to Burnley next, even if he played for QPR or someone I'd play him.

Surely people aren't using their WCs at least before the transfer window closes

My thoughts on Costa, he looks consistent and will nick in an assist and/or goal each week. My concern though is he looks overpriced, as I don't see many double figure hauls in him at the moment.

Considering trading for Adebayor and getting Aguero for Rooney is Rooney blanks again vs Burnley.

Sturridge-Costa-Ade is where it's at. With Costa captain every week
