Our Monday afternoon regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Injuries

Arsenal
Olivier Giroud picked up an ankle problem towards the end of Saturday’s draw at Everton. Post-match, Arsene Wenger was a little pessimistic with his initial prognosis:

“It’s a stretched ankle. At the moment it doesn’t look too good.”

Reports today suggest that, although Giroud told the French media he hoped to be fit for the midweek Champions League clash with Besiktas, Arsenal have some concerns over his availability.

Aston Villa
Aly Cissokho was subbed off towards the end of Saturday lunchtime’s goalless draw due to injury, the club’s official website has confirmed.

Chelsea
Withdrawn just after the hour mark of the weekend home win over Leicester, Andre Schurrle took to twitter to proclaim:

“Hope my leg is getting better the next days.”

Crystal Palace
Joe Ledley was a late withdrawal from the side that lost to West Ham on Saturday after picking up a groin problem during the warm-up.

Everton
Steven Pienaar was forced off due to his groin early on in the Toffees’ home draw with Arsenal. Post-match, Roberto Martinez revealed Romelu Lukaku had been hampered by a toe problem during the match:

“Romelu has been struggling with a knock on his toe and he did incredibly well to be available today. The fans need to know and it is an example of our football Club that he did everything to be available for the game to help the players. To last over 70 minutes was an incredible gesture and he was terrific for Naismith’s goal – I couldn’t be prouder of his attitude and the way he represented our Club today.”

Leicester
Midfielder Dean Hammond was withdrawn during the loss at Chelsea with leg cramp, Nigel Pearson has confirmed.

Manchester United
Louis van Gaal’s injury worries at the back show little sign of abating. Chris Smalling became the latest defender to make his way onto the treatment table after limping out of the 1-1 draw at Sunderland due to a groin problem.

QPR
Charlie Austin missed Sunday’s hammering at White Hart Lane due to a hamstring injury.

Stoke
Glenn Whelan was forced off during yesterday’s draw at Hull due to an ankle problem, allowing Bojan Krkic to take his place off the bench.

Sunderland
The Black Cats wide man Adam Johnson missed yesterday’s home encounter with United due to illness.

West Brom
New left-back Sebastien Pocognoli and Victor Anichebe were both replaced in the weekend draw at Southampton after picking up injuries, confirm the club’s official website.

West Ham
Kevin Nolan missed the trip to Palace due to a shoulder injury, according to the Hammers’ twitter feed. Sam Allardyce has since conceded:

“It could be six weeks and it’s a massive blow to him and us. We’ve got five out. Those missing play a big part in our squad and our team.”

Suspensions

Hull’s James Chester disappointed the 128,000 FPL managers who drafted him in last week with a red card and a haul of minus two points at home to Stoke. The centre-half sits out the weekend trip to Villa but will be available for the Gameweek 4 home encounter against West Ham.

I think it's fair to say that Balotelli is one of the best penalty takers in the world. Does anyone think he'll be taking them over Gerrard?

Rodgers should take them off Gerrard imo. Gerrard needs to start losing his power at the club, not even sure he should be starting regularly come the end of this year.

Then Gerrard wont score any goal this season and supporters of Liverpool wont have arguement to say he is better than Yaya. :3

I agree he is a great penalty taker and possibly better than Gerrard. I just don't see Gerrard giving them up as he has a pretty impressive record as well. Maybe he would have if Balo was 30/30 and still recognized as (maybe) the best penalty taker in the world.

I think it's quite possible. Which probably makes Sterling a better prospect than Gerrard this season.

If Liverpool ever get two in the same match then they'll probably take one each.

What will Barkley's injury mean? Will just Naismith play behind Lukaku...
Or will it also affect Rodwell, him taking Barkleys place?
Will Barry and McCarthy still just be the two in front of backline or will maybe McCarrhy now go like Fabregas(Barry being Matic) so we will see a more offensive McCarthy?

Maybe someone of you have any insight in Everton(i certainly don't) and can enlighten us or rather me?

Naismith played as the striker with Lukaku wide. I expect he will play either there or in the hole at leat until Barkley is fit although if they buy Welbeck he may be at risk. His place to lose atm

      Krul
      Jones / Clyne / Hutton
Siggy / Mata / Ramsey (vc) / Eriksen
      Rooney (c) / Costa / Dzeko

Been mulling over this myself. Reckon Hazard will get more points but Fabregas won't be far behind and is 0.9m cheaper.

Went for Fabregas myself in the end because I think that extra ~1m is pretty vital at the start of the season, but will probably hope to upgrade to Hazard as the season develops if he's performing well.

Repost as I missed a key figure... Bonus points, whoops!

      Di Maria statistics:

      124 Games played = 244 points
      22 Goals = 110
      49 Assists = 147
Clean sheets based on last years MUN stats (12/38 * 124) = 39
      BPS (3 When scoring a goal, 1 when assisting - can't accurately calculate this) = 115

      Total = 655
      PPG Therefore = 5.28

      Thoughts on this?
Will ADM improve, or weaken playing for MUN?
How much would you pay for ADM?

Notes: I know this isn't completely accurate as there will be instances where ADM didn't play 90 minutes etc, but this is a good guide as to what we can expect.

He played in a one of three teams in Spain that totally dominated their division. Over here it's not going to be so straightforward ...... United are not going to be one of those three dominant teams and then there's always that "Tuesday in February in Stoke when it's chucking it down with sleet" to be negotiated. Good player though.

Struggeling with what I should do with my last transfer and could need some help from you guys 🙂
I got 2 mil in the bank and 1 free transfer. I was planing on doing Shawcross to Ivanovic but the price increase put me of. Is Ivanovic still worth it with the new 7,1 price tag? It would leave me with 0.4 in the bank.

If I decide the keep Shawcross could I do Mata to Hazard, Bojan to Pelle or upgrade one of my keepers (Begovic and Hamer) to someone like Lloris or Krul.
I have no good keeper to play next week since Stoke is facing Man C away and Hamer wont play so spending the transfer there could save me some points. Could it even be worth it to do one free transfer and another 4p transfer to ensure that I have a keeper to play next gameweek.

If you want Ivan go get him. .1 is nothing in the grand scheme that is the 38 GW marathon. Go get your man who you think will score the most points.

I am just afraid of having 0.4 mil in the bank if someone starts to drop, would be hard to get rid of Bojan for example if I cant upgrade him to a 6 mil striker 🙁

Yeah, valid thinking. I personally don't try and let price changes dictate my thinking for more than maybe one GW in advance if I have something very surely planned. And even when I do that, it usually blows up in my face 🙂

True, planing to far ahead could be a problem.
Making transfers is just so bloody hard, Jones, Mata, Shawcross and Begovic all got great fixtures over the next 5-6 gw's and the potential to score a lot of points so transferring one of them feels like a big mistake.

Just to point out, but all you ever do is post your team, repost it, repost it again, and probably repost it once more for good measure asking for help week in week out while never giving out any tips or advice to others may be the reason why you seldom get replies.

        A

QPR still looked very solid at the back against Hull in GW1. They got steamrolled at WHL to a completely better team but could still do well defensively with their good home fixtures coming up. Stoke, however, look poor to me so far.

They have a very good fixture next week against Sunderland Home, I am hanging onto him for another week or so. Plus, Caulker could legit have a couple goals to his name already. You see that wide open header he blew towards the end of the game? I am giving him 1 more week.

Well was daft for him to roll out a 352 on the road against a way better opponent. It worked pretty well against a lesser side like Hull at home and I see no reason why it will not continue to look okay at home when playing lesser quality opponents.

I see that that RMT is broke. It's got Aguero in 39th place overall in the six week view (just behind the Southampton goalie) averaging just over 3 points per game! 😯

Now I know it takes a host of other factors into account but surely it's got to assume that even Aguero can last until the beginning of October without pulling up lame again?
