With Gameweek 3 up next, we asses our options in the Sky Sports game by bringing you the usual info – Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends – before taking a look at the Scout team and our plans for the week ahead.

Gameweek 2 Man of the Match Awards

Here are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures, achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Aston Villa vs NewcastleAlan Hutton
Chelsea vs LeicesterEden Hazard
Crystal Palace vs West HamStewart Downing
Southampton vs West BromYoussouf Mulumbu
Swansea vs BurnleyJordi Amat
Everton vs ArsenalOlivier Giroud
Hull vs StokeNikica Jelavic
Tottenham vs QPRErik Lamela
Sunderland vs Man UnitedLee Cattermole
Man City vs LiverpoolStevan Jovetic

Two defenders, five midfielders and three forwards picked up the awards last weekend. Budget defenders Jordi Amat (4.7) and Alan Hutton (3.8) staked a claim for consideration, with perhaps Hutton the better option due to his security of starts and a cheaper price. Mid-price Argentine Erik Lamela (6.9) looks one to keep an eye on after picking up two assists – fielded behind the forward in a fluid system installed by Mauricio Pochettino, he really caught the eye and looks a great option with only 7% ownership.

Gameweek 2 Bonus Points

Only two goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves. Julian Speroni and Kasper Schmeichel were the pair in question, with Schmeichel churning out the most saves in the Gameweek with eight – the Leicester keeper is likely to keep a high save rate and offer a good chance for MoTM. If you’re considering a keeper change already then the Dane looks good value at 4.3m.

In defence, 12 players grabbed bonus – seven for tackles and five for passes completed. Spanish full-back Cesar Azpilicueta came closest to achieving both, missing out by 11 completed passes.

In midfield there were 17 beneficiaries in total – nine for tackling and ten for passes. Central midfielders Dean Marney and Morgan Scheiderlin were the two to pick up bonus for both – Scheiderlin picked up 46 points in bonus last season and looks set to replicate that total once again.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
RooneyMan Utd9.42.57%
SanchezArsenal6.52.26%
GiroudArsenal8.92.25%
DzekoMan City9.52.09%
HowardEverton5.41.72%

Sky Sports Fantasy managers have been quick to restructure their front lines this week, with four of the top most most transferred out players plying their trade up front. Alexis Sanchez looks set to benefit as Arsenal’s lone forward as a result of Olivier Giroud’s lengthy injury absence, though, and those who parted company with the Chilean could quickly regret their decision.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
DierTottenham6.43.77%
HuttonAston Villa3.83.70%
JoveticMan City7.93.56%
CostaChelsea9.53.00%
KaboulTottenham5.22.94%

Back-to-back clean sheets bring Tottenham pair Eric Dier and Younes Kaboul onto Fantasy radars, with the former’s pair of goals making him the most sought-after player in the Gameweek. Hutton’s 3.8 price tag, allied with two clean sheets and a MoTM display, has afforded the Villa right-back a place in many new teams. Stevan Jovetic’s brace against Liverpool makes the 7.9-priced City forward an obvious target for the visit of Stoke, whilst Costa’s new owners are sweating over his fitness after Jose Mourinho confirmed he is a “big doubt” heading into the trip to Goodison.

My Team

ITB: 0.4
Transfers remaining 38/40
Last week’s points: 80
Overall points: 160
Rank: 2,550

Notes
I’ve picked up 80 points two weeks on the trot and a reasonable rank to go with it. This is thanks, in part, to Alan Hutton and Eden Hazard’s MoTM displays both netting me 12 points – also a last minute change of heart meant after my captain Diego Costa banged in a goal, I switched the armband to Juan Mata rather than Wayne Rooney and the Spaniard also came up trumps. I then swapped out Mata for David Silva who unfortunately failed to return any points but hopefully sets me up nicely for the weekend, as detailed below.

The main concerns with my team currently are Yaya Toure and Jordan Mutch who are yet to contribute anything of note. Again, I’m going to hang fire for now and hope they repay the faith with Cesc Fabregas, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Raheem Sterling, Siem de Jong and Erik Lamela are winking provocatively at me.

Captain plan
David Silva is my captain for his match at home to Stoke and I will then switch the armband to either Aaron Ramsey or Raheem Sterling on Sunday. Of course, if I go with Sterling I’ll have to transfer him in for Silva after City’s clash with the Potters on Saturday.

It’s worth noting that even though the upcoming Gameweek is a fixture-less one, we can still use our allocated captain swap for free if need be, setting up up nicely when the domestic action resumes in a fortnight’s time.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and were hoping to top the Private League rankings as per usual. With a £1,000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday, The Fantasy Football Club show with Fenners and Merse gets underway at 18:30 on Sky Sports One HD. The duo will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, quizzing former England forward Les Ferdinand, and also asking the uncompromising Terry Butcher for his #One2Eleven.

I was dead against them this season because I took too many last season

This made me avoid a Davies to Hutton/Taylor hit last week that would have given me 2 points more than I have now, 0.2mil more in value and a free transfer in the bank... great decision

I'm in a similar boat. I took like, a -16 hit or something mad like that for the DGW last season. Turned out my Everton players did crap and I basically ended up losing my mini leagues because of that decision.

Much more resistance this season... meaning I'll only take a -12 hit for the DGW. 😉

With Dzeko a possible starter now my main area of concern is defence.

Chambers may have lost his place and Caulker is looking a lesser pick after last week (was luckily on my bench).

2FT to use, would ideally only like to use 1. Any defensive gems out there?

    Double Dilemma!

It's possible that Rooney blanks at Burnley which will cause panic selling over the international break and a potential 0.1-0.3 point drop in value. This will take up 1 FT over the break and require another premium forward.

Selling Costa may back fire if this happens or drive folks to buy Costa over the break sending his price higher. It's all possible. Jovetic would also be in line for big investment if he scores against Stoke and Rooney blanks.

So by replacing Costa there's the added strategy of replacing him with a forward who would be bought for Rooney over the Internationals.

Don't care if he looks as bad as he did last weekend again at Burnley or not, he is staying in my team for these three games against the promoted sides. Will reassess afterwards if I want to keep him or not.

I wouldn't worry about Roney too much. Even if he blanks he has QPR at home followed by Leicester

Given how fickle everyone is, will people keep taking Costa out over the international break even if he is likely to be fit for Swansea

I think they will. If Sturridge or Balotelli or one of that ilk scores this weekend, they will ditch Costa in droves, just because he had a blank gameweek

    Think I'm going with:

    Chambers & Costa -> Dummett & Aguero (c) [4 points]

Quite risky, but with plenty of upside. Aguero should be fit to start now imo. A month of training, 2 sub appearances and he's looked good when he came on. Presumably Pelle will want him to get 60-70 mins before the 2 big games to follow (ars/CHE).

Chambers has to go as well and Dummett has good fixtures.

    What's not to like?! 😉

I'm weighing up the same move at the min . I think Aguero is by far and away the best captaincy option if he starts . Who is your 5th mid ? . My gut tells me bench Costa and play Thomas Ince . Avoid the hit and save the free transfer .

          Cahill / Jones / Chambers / Wisdom / Bruce
          Hazard / Mata / Eriksen / Siggy / Marney
          Costa / Rooney / Dzeko

2 FT 's and 0.0m ITB - that's what I have; wish I had the money to get Sturridge without taking having to make 3 transfers (and thus a -4)

Have just enough to do Costa->Kun and I felt Sturridge was over priced in FPL but now I look at Pool's fixtures and wonder if the fixtures could justify going with Sturridge instead. After Spurs away, it is a long, lovely favorable schedule for Pool until Week 11, and even though Suarez isnt around to make a fair comparison, Liverpool crushed my Spurs in this fixture last season, so I don't view Week 3 as anything more than a neutral matchup.

Meanwhile Aguero's pitch time is in question this week, though its understood he can do damage off the bench, but then its Arsenal away and home to Chelsea the following two weeks.

For 12m, can I justify a player's value when there is little chance he will even be (C) material for three straight weeks because of playing time and fixtures?

Have I made a case for Sturridge?

Mourinho began by giving the latest news on Diego Costa, who picked up a minor muscular injury in training this week.

‘In this moment I can’t say much,’ reported Mourinho. ‘We are trying everything for him to play tomorrow. He didn’t train for the last two days, but today is the last day and we must make a decision to select him or not.

‘He has to try a light training session to see if the reaction is positive. If it is we take him to Everton to play or be on the bench; if the reaction is not positive today then obviously we don’t select him.

‘What matters now is the match tomorrow and not the match in three weeks’ time. For tomorrow he is a big doubt. Let’s see.’

    Wish they'd remove Marney's flag - he's been confirmed fit: http://www.burnleyexpress.net/sport/burnley-fc/latest-news/sean-dyche-looking-forward-to-man-united-challenge-1-6811959

"David Jones and Dean Marney have shaken off knocks and will be fit to play."

I have Costa, Rooney and Fletcher up front. Was going to get Costa out in two game weeks time anyway.

The question is, should I take out Costa for Jovetic (-4 hit) when I'll only use him for two game weeks??

    Krul
    Cahill / Clyne / PVA
    Ramsey / Mata / Sterling / Fab / Ince
    Rooney / Costa
    (Guzan / Jutkiewicz / Wisdom / Moore)

    1 FT & 0m itb

    A) Costa -> ??
    B) Play Jutkiewicz or Wisdom

    Guys, this is me. 😐

    Krul
    Terry, Taylor, Hutton
    Hazard, Ramsey, Eriksen, Sigurdsson
    Rooney, Costa, Bony

    Chambers, Marney, Wisdom

Is my bench good enough for not to sell Costa for 4-point hit this GW?

Help. I'm already on -4. Currently have Jovetic, Rooney and Costa up top. Do I take another hit to transfer costa to Ade?

Definitely not. Ade will have to score a goal against Liverpool just to score you 2 points if you take that second hit.

Keep Costa, have your first sub come in if he doesn't play. A (pretty much) guaranteed 2 points that way already.

Is Rooney out of favor? I have Man Utd coverage in midfield so should Rooney be replaced with Ageuro or Sturridge?
