Carlos Tevez takes a break. Cesc Fabregas is fit and may feature in Arsenal’s weekend friendly. Steve Kean finally signs a striker, though may see his skipper depart for North London. Alan Pardew is determined to freeze out Joey Barton and Joe Cole’s name blinks on the QPR radar. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

The Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona saga drags on this morning. The midfielder has now recovered from his hamstring injury and for the past two days has trained with the Arsenal first-team ahead of Saturday evening’s friendly against Sporting Lisbon. The Gunners are reportedly preparing two first-team photographs ahead of next season- one with their skipper and one without. Fabregas is even willing to take a pay cut to ensure the move goes through but the stumbling block remains a £5m difference in each club’s valuation of the player.

Carlos Tevez is the other big name in the news this morning. City have reportedly extended their skipper’s vacation, allowing him to miss Sunday’s Community Shield clash with United. Tevez’s future remains in the balance, then, and, despite his obvious appeal in Fantasy terms, the City striker will have been crossed off many a pre-season watchlist. He now seems unlikely to begin the season in the City starting line-up when Swansea turn up at Eastlands next weekend

Chris Samba’s Blackburn future is again in doubt as the latest reports suggest Spurs have moved to the front of the queue for his services. A £6 million fee is reportedly on the table as Harry Redknapp looks to bolster his backline. Presumably the Spurs boss has Samba lined up to partner skipper Michael Dawson, with Ledley King’s knee still preventing him from making regular Premier League appearances. Should Samba arrive at White Hart Lane, it’s safe to say that Fantasy managers may look more favourably both on Samba and the Spurs back four.

Blackburn fans can at least take some consolation that their club made their first move in the transfer market yesterday, completing a deal for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie . He is set to make his debut at Kilmarnock this weekend – a full Scout Report on the Scottish starlet will follow later today.

Norwich’s Ritchie De Laet has wasted little in settling into his new surroundings, following his loan move from Man United. The defender grabbed a goal and picked up the Man of the Match award in the Canaries 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza. At just 4.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) he’s one to definitely consider, for those Fantasy managers undecided over low-price defenders.

While Joey Barton has hinted at seeing out the final year of his contract on Tyneside, Alan Pardew has other ideas. The Newcastle boss is reportedly determined to ensure the midfielder offers no further disruption to first-team matters by forcing him to train alone until his departure. Jose Enrique has closed his twitter account amid reports the club are on the verge of banning all players from using the social media site.

Liverpool’s forgotten man Joe Cole has been offered the chance of a season-long loan deal by QPR. Cole is clearly out of the picture at Anfield and, providing Neil Warnock’s side can afford his wages, would certainly get plenty chances at Loftus Road. With a 6.0 price tag, he’s a budget-friendly FPL option, though many Fantasy managers will steer clear until the situation becomes a little clearer.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I've decided to shift my team round a little, mainly inspired by this message from Az

    Given
    S.Taylor Ivanovic Kompany
    Formica Duff VDV Moses Yaya
    Rooney(c) Bent

    Ruddy Saha De Laet Brown

Got 0.5mil to change someone to a Chelsea player before GW2, I too think they will struggle against Stoke.

So the basis of his advice is stop posting RMTs and ignore everyone's advice, so the first thing you do is.......

      hehe, just ribbin' ya 😉

I think you have one too many gambles for my liking.
I have been edging towards picking the strongest team I can GW1 and leaving room for manouvre to pick up the bargains when they present themselves.

Too much uncertainty at the moment to get a reliable feel for how things will pan out. The start of the season is always random!

        hahaha, yeah good point 😛

This is almost a pre-season guide team, I'm gonna follow this through for now. My main changes have come from taking out the newly-promoted players, realised I can't rely on them too heavily to begin with.

Formica, doing pretty well for now.
Saha is in to cover Everton's incredible run of fixtures, just a hope of being a superb differential to be honest!
Duff, he's been playing well for a while now, think he'll stick in a couple and covers me nicely for their fixtures 🙂

VDV has injuries i believe? Yaya will be pushed back, less of a goal threat, replace with Silva, top two are solid. Steven Taylor of Newcastle? reckon he'll keep many clean sheets? I'm not sure they will personally...

As far as I know VDV was taken off as a precaution, he'll be fine, if I get word of anything he's gone for Kuyt. Yaya will do something, you'll see 😉

Steven has been getting forward a lot, looking more for attacking points rather than defensive! I agree, don't think Newcastle are gonna be keeping many clean sheets, think he'll have to help push up.

Your play over the year will get you a good ranking not getting the right players on day 1. I am a firm believer in keeping it safe at the start and wait until later to take gambles.

Later in the season they will be more educated gambles than they are now. This game can't be won in the first few gameweeks but can be lost.

that's what i'm saying, it's virtually impossible to hit a bicycle without using your shin. they're awesome goals and it's ridiculous to claim they aren't on the basis that the shin was involved. it's biomechanically impossible to just use your instep

Re: Release date of FPL website

    Dear FPL Towers,

I would like to complain in the strongest terms about the release date of the FPL website. Your timing has put all of us fantasy football fans in a very difficult position.

Your early release date in July has left us with far too much time before the start of the season. There are still 9 days to go and I have already almost worn out my mouse in tinkering with my FPL team and clicking through "RMT" posts on your (excellent, btw) partner website Fantasy Football Scout.

Next season I hope you will be more considerate and plan a much later release date so we can avoid similar problems.

    Sincerely,

Do you need help putting Ramsey in your team or what exactly? If you want to know if he is going to play no one here is going to know only Wenger could tell you that and even he probably doesn't know for sure who will be available to play in midfield in a weeks time.

The clue is in the question. Yes he is the Wales captain but that won't guarantee him a start. Wales are a shockingly bad team anyway. Obligation will not over rule talent. I'd rather wait a few weeks to see who Wenger fields before taking that sort of risk with him.

Malouda plays exclusively on the left, Benayoun on the right or in the centre (at the tip of the diamond if Chelsea play that formation).

I wouldn't want both of them, but there's no reason why they shouldn't play in the same team.

i have made a team based on the first few fixtures and i actually think it is rather good.

    Given - Kenny

Luiz - Kompany - Simpson - Orr - Enrique (assuming Liverpool)

Silva - Murphy - Albrighton - Moses - Benayoun (assuming AVB keeps faith)

    Suarez - Bent - Rodallega

Now all those players have a great start to the season, have the potential to be good scorers for their teams and most importantly i stil have 5 Million left in the bank (which will never stay there of course)

It does assume a bit but i think it looks good so far!

I'm a rovers fan, and I'll tell you not to go anywhere near Dunn.

His injury record is catastrophic, he's on set pieces sure, but he's not the best taker around, and MGP if he's playing will take most of them. He's also nowhere near as influential as people make him out to be. If you're going to punt on a Rovers player, go with Formica.

as long as dunn is fit i'll be tempted. he's on penalties and showed showed in the kitchee game he can take the odd free-kick off MGP. he doesn't need to be influential he just needs to score goals he still does.
right now he's not in my team, and he probably wont ever be but the appeal is fair imo

Even when he is "back to full fitness" on the Saturday morning, he usually finds a way to get injured by 3pm.

i'd compare dunn to an injury prone kevin nolan. if he's fit ihe's arguably blackburn's most likely point scorer. but yeah the issue is he's never fit so probably not worth the gamble early on when transfers are vital

Zamora for odemwingie due to fiztures.
Zogs is struggling for fitness and may not start.

Hughes could be better value than Hangeland and will save you some cash.

You could then downgrade Hart, get Kompany and still have more left over to upgrade Zogs to Silva. (I think)

    some advice about defenders line:

    A.Cole, Lescott, Enrique (Orr, Simpson)

Lescott is a very nice punt. Will definitely score more points than kompany per game played imo but kompany is nailed on to play them all, a little more doubt surrounds lescott but with no kolo i cant really see city playing anyone else at CB.

B as you are guaranteed starts

I prefer Baines Watson if you can afford it, alternatively you could get Ivanovic at 7.0 and you may have enough to get Watson and Moses and get rid of the never ever playing Ferguson

Bonjour y'all could anybody spare a cursory glance at this lot.
    Given / De Vries
    Kompany / Simpson / Bramble / Jagielka / Enrique
    Malouda / Sess / Downing / Moses / O'Hara
    RVP / Rooney / AJ

I know the back weak but I'll just place Kompany and rotate the other pair. Did have Distin in but figured that if Jags does make the move to Arsenal at the end of August it would be rather nice to have their run of fixtures from there on.
    Midfield - pretty standard.
Forwards - RVP and Rooney both have alright GW1 and inevitably one of them will do well, I'll dump the other for Torres/Drogba GW2. AJ well its a punt but he's at least a punt thats scored premiership goals.

Not bad.... I had a similar team until I read that De Vries will be unlikey to be number 1 keeper at Wolves so it messes up your GK rotation.. which in turn might mess up your outfield. But you could always downgrade Moses to N Dyer and change De Vries to a 4.5 mill keeper
