Fernando Torres is an early doubt for Chelsea’s weekend trip to Stoke after reportedly suffering concussion whilst playing for Spain this evening.

The striker lined up for the Spanish against Italy in tonight’s friendly but lasted just 14 minutes before being forced off with a head injury.

Medical staff are expected to examine Torres before offering a further assessment. Already they are insisting that his withdrawal was purely a precaution.

However, if Torres has suffered concussion, he would seem likely to be forced to sit out of the trip to Britannia.

There are already doubts over Andre Villas-Boas’ team selection for Sunday’s game with Torres unable to take his opportunity to impress in the pre-season. Didier Drogba’s physical presence against Tony Pulis’ muscular outfit may well have been preferred regardless of the availability of the £50 million Spaniard.

Drogba was also in action tonight, scoring his 50th international goal via a penalty in Ivory Coast’s 4-3 victory against Israel in Geneva.

Torres is currently owned by over 88,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – Drogba currently claims almost double that figure.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Team so far. 2 potential problems

    1. Striking injury doubts. I'll leave that til Saturday morning, but I'm hoping at least one start
    2. 3 Wigan players. They've got 3 good games at the start, but 3 might be a bit much. I like Moses as a budget buy, but and advice for swapping either El Habsi or Rodellega?

    AL HABSI/Howard
    RICHARDS/KOMPANY/FERDINAND/Gorkss/Hughes
    SILVA/TARAABT/DEMPSEY/MOSES/Dyer
    RODELLEGA/VAN PERSIE/SUAREZ

    Any thoughts?

... and it was a "crib", I know... fail.

Off to Google what a crib is, and if it is different to a basket or just has a different name. Will report back as I know you're on tenterhooks 😉

OK... a crib it a proper "cot" type thing. How did they get one there in the Holy stable? A "Moses basket" seems to be something indredibly cute that comes in different colours and designed for idiots!

That'll be the test then. 10 top leading consumer moses baskets, replete with babies, have to be floated down the Nile without the children being drowned/harmed.

I had Samba, but he was a doubt, so thought why not go for 2 City defenders. I think they're both guaranteed starts, the team doesn't leak goals too badly. £6 mill sadly doesn't get you too much 🙂

Lampard is safer starter however for Stoke game Drogba must be nailed on but will this mean he will feature in the latter games?

However, I had Lamps at start of last season and regretted it he never really pays back his price tag. Plays too deep for me.

Lot of money at the back and upfront. Midfield is lacking and considering the big points come from this area and people tend to captain midfielders I think you need to consider to reduce some money either from up front or back to bolster midfield.

I am going for Newcastle/Swansea/QPR, with three player combination available for 12.0. For the first 9 GWs, at least one of them has a home game against:-

BOL WIG SUN NEW WBA BLA STK BLA WIG.

Admittedly they still might not get many clean sheets but I think it is a reasonable option along with two quality defenders. I am going with Cole and Lescott.

Hi can someone cast there eye over my team, any opinions of improvements? Tried to go with a good blend of penalty takers, free-kick specialists and defenders who can score from corners.

    Al-Habsi (Ruddy)
    Hangeland, Lescott, Dunne (simpson, gabiddon)
Lampard (vc), Moses, Taarabt, Cabaye (Sinclair)

    N'Zogbia Nani O'Hara Tarrabt Surman/Dyer
    RVP Suarez Zamora

1m in bank. Assuming RVP and Suarez fit for now.

What 4m defenders to go for, got Simpson atm? Orr/Gabbidon, De Laet. What 4m defs start for swansea?

I've spent today watching cricket and tinkering, and this is the result. Interested to see some thoughts, further doubt is always a good thing...

    Given (Ruddy)

    Lescott / Alex / S. Taylor (Bramble, N. Taylor)

    Nani / Taarabt / Sinclair / Hoolahan / Moses

Van Persie / Drogba / Carroll

With widespread uncertainty in midfield I've gone for a big front line, easy enough to change down the line.

Downgrading that frontline will be the easy part.

Upgrading the midfielders when the big hitters emerge will be a pain in the behind.

I don't like how you have allocated your budget. Then again it may be very profitable.

Forgive me for briefly exploiting this FFS forum for politics but I had a question about the riots and I'd like an opinion from people in the area. People are coming out and claiming the reason why the riots are becoming so systemic is due to a youth disillusioned with authority. If that's the case, then they would obviously go after symbols of authority like police stations or government offices. So why are they only going after shops,if thats the case? Have there been any attacks directed at government? (rioters vs. riot police aside)

In Nottingham a police station got fire bombed or something, wasn't that serious though.

It isn't political in every case, but where authority is being used as a justification, the target doesn't matter, because whatever happens the police get involved, and it's the police that are the primary target. So causing havok for them to have to come out and confront is deemed preferable to attacking where they work and are better equipped, I would think.

I would argue that the youth in this country have always been disillusioned and it hasn't necessarily increased by a dramatic amount, but the extent to which this disillusionment can cause harm has increased.

how can you blame politics for youngsters who go looting, come on. whats political about burning innocent people out of their homes or breaking into shops. its nonsense to say that those who are or were carrying out these acts were doing it for political reasons. there are lots of reasons you can blame but politics amongst the youth isn't really one of them ,

they are mostly just little chavs looking to get a free phone or a pair of trainers. they are too young to have any real concerns re employability and social issues etc. it was just a bunch of thugs who seen the opportunity to cause havoc. nothing more. how does shooting an innocent man in his car, running down 3 people and burning poor people out of their homes have anything to do with politics. its a shame but the uk is a thug society these days.

It's so very, very tricky, isn't it?

Graham is isolated and probably needs some real man loving from his team to bring him closer in.

DJ... so pure and yet maybe flawed? I dunno... Taarabt (not the spelling) must be sh1tting himself, so much expectation on so small shoulders!

Yes, they will split the pounts.
