We’re almost there. After three months, countless RMT’s (That’s Rate-My-Team for our new readers), a whole host of injury scares and the regular gamut of transfer talk, the season is now just hours away.

This means just one thing- it’s time for a host of the Fantasy Football Scout team to start off one last debate by sticking our necks on the line with predictions for the year to come. As evidenced by last year, our choices can range from the sublime to the ridiculous – let’s see how the cards fall for 2011/12…

I, Andy, kick things off by singling out teams and players I am not perhaps known for endorsing. Towing the party line, then, I’ve done everything I can to make my predictions as impartial as possible. Not believe me? Look- no Fernando Torres…

So there we have it, that’s how the Scouts see it; no need for any of this fantasy lark as we’re clearly going to be 100% correct. Remember this post at season’s end for all the good choices and forget it for those that end up down the garden path. Who are your choice picks for the 2011/12 season?

Suddenly I think that I'd be mad to bench S.Taylor this week.

Arsenal are very likely to concede to a set piece and S. Taylor is almost certain to be on the end of it. He won't keep a CS but there is a very high chance of him grabbing at least one goal, and maybe some bonus as a result.

Three goals in his last 3 competitive games and scored in pre-season too. Better option to start than Gabbidon?

IMO yes. QPR just as likely to concede as Newcastle I think.

On the other hand, Newcastle are so unpredictable that this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9384154.stm) [4-4 Arsenal] could happen again. 😛

Hmm. Not many have Rooney in their team, but all the scouts reckon he'll be top scorer. If that's because of tough fixtures, and they'll get him when fixtures soften, why does everyone have Nani?

    Am I missing something?

Sorry, this isn't a very clear question.

      Maybe I should say:

      Malouda + Rooney + Enrique
      OR
      Nani + Drogba + Vermaelen

      Option 1 is more a long-term plan.

Option 2 would eventually involve Silva > Malouda, Drogba > Suarez.

      If that makes sense.

Who plays alongside Gabbidon for QPR? Worried that one bad result and his price will drop, someone with less ownership has less risk for the same reward.

Teams with Moses in are really starting to confuse me. He is not a similar player to nzog, and has a very poor fpl record. Also look at his game time in previous seasons- he always gets taken off, often very early in the game.

He's also very lazy, and will prob not play away from home as he does no defensive work. For wigan, he's not a bad impact player, as he has some tricks and could liven a game up. However he is not a fpl pick, never mind one that appears in 90% of teams!

Considering the excellent potential of midfielders in the same bracket- sess, tarrabt, sinclair, dyer, Ohara- I can't understand why everyone's going for him?

It it just because he's in the wigan form list in the pre season guide?

none of the aforementioned players you posted up as a replacement for him are worth 5m except for dyer who is much less reliable than moses.

They're not in the same bracket Moses is only 5.0m, scored in almost every preseason game, scored against villareal. Will get played faaar more this season due to the loss of Nzogbia.

Decent fixtures, potential to have a good season, and at the end of the day, what's £5m on a midfielder?

No, because he has scored in nearly every pre season game even scoring against the likes of villareal. Now Nzogbia has gone he will be the main focal point imo of wigans midfield going forward and his form in pre season has showed what an able replace he can be. At 5mill im not going to complain especially with wigan playing the 3 promoted teams first three games of the season. He is a good player. They have people like diame and thomas to worry about defending!

Not doubting you haven't directly, but I'd bet not only have the vast majority never seen him play, but that they only have him in their teams because everyone else has... I guess that's the idea of a bandwagon (bosseli?!).

Hi, do any members play the Metro game? I'm trying to find out if all the extra stats you get as a member will help with the metro game as you get points for defensive tackles and passes in opposition half etc

    Thank you

decided to go with enrique and bench him first game.. also decided to go with an expensive forward line as that's where all the players i'd potentially want are.. ie Tevez, Aguero, RVP, Bent, Rooney, Torres/Drogba, Suarez.. took a punt on ramsey and rvp starting too.. hope it all does'nt go pete tong

    Malouda Nani Tarrabt Sessegnon Moses
    Suarez RVP Holt

I have to use Dzeko for GW1 until Suarez is certain.

Short .5 cash for Carroll. Any better choice for my three 4.0 Def?
