I've never bookmarked his team link but someone yesterday posted it, and I realized my WC team keeps outscoring his WC team over 30p LOLhehe, this is my first season of FPL ever and I'm within 20 points of him. I've soaked up some advice from him and alot of others on here though admittedly 😀
every serious players here on FFS site can give you/us lots of advice everyweek, but DECIDE it yourself and LUCK are keys to succeed in this game.

Yeah no doubt. Luck is massive. If Aguero doesn't get injured then I don't get my 10 points from Yaya to get a massive leg up on alot of people... and then Hutton's goal 😛
That isn't to say that statistical analysis can't guide you towards more luck though 😉
Yes, it's all about shifting the odds in your favour. That's what managers can control, but after 11.30am on Saturday that's it.
There are managers like FFS Mark whose record is just incredibly consistent but for the most part I don't really see a manager at 5k being lots better than one at 50k - just one who has had more calls come off.I don't really subscribe to that view that someone at 50k not being "better" than someone at 5k.
Managers who consistently finish higher have perfected a method of analysis and studying the numbers and statistics presented to them, and probably watch more games than others on average in many regards. That isn't to say that it is a 100% accurate, but as a general rule its probably true more often than not.
Of course, in all sports there is an element of luck involved, but as TL said over time those red cards, goals, assists, OG's, etc, all even out and conform to the statistics and patterns that have presented themselves over longer periods of time.Someone who consistently finishes in the top 5k is very good at shifting the odds in their favour, better than someone who consistently finishes in the top 50k. I'm in no way saying that it's luck and nothing else.
But if you asked me at the start of the season which one would finish higher, I wouldn't bet my mortgage on Mr 5K. I really don't think things always even out over the season - to use my own history as an example (and I don't consider myself as one of the better FPL managers at all) after GW10 last season my OR was a million plus. This season I was inside the top 10k after GW12. I haven't suddenly improved, just my calls were coming in more often.
Lots of respect for those with excellent histories but also some respect to Lady Luck.
Luck is only short term , it all evens out. If luck was a huge factor there would be no way i would have 4 top 1000 finishes in a field of millions.

I do benchmark my progress against players who consistently do well as that's the best way to improve "luck", and as it happens you are one of the more public faces here with a history page suggestive of credibility. As hard as it might be for you to fathom though, you are by no means the only one people like me use as something of a guide.
If you want to call that obsession that's fine with me, but there's a very fine line between thinking people are obsessed with you and being arrogantly obtuse towards others. If you don't want people to discuss your team on here, then maybe its time you stop ranting about your decisions and reminding everyone about how great your rank is at every opportunity you get.

lets be honest, most people shout about theor rank when its good and decent g/w scores. its just how it is on here
i only post my score in score checks posts when it’s average or bad
maybe an exception to the rule then, most people who shout about score posts have done well in a given week. not many cone on shouting im ranked 2 million what are you on. if you get my drift
Yeah, but its a little different when you use your historical gameweek ranks to condescendingly disapprove of anything someone else on here says, rather than what you're saying when people usually just blurt out their rank as a one-off.

i have to agree with you on this, Evs being another player who regularly scores very well, its not just luck, its the time and effort you guys go to that gets you the results. Have to say I admire it, to get good at most things takes a lot of practice

may i make a suggestion? how about upgrade your 4.0 keeper to Pantilimon? when Fabianski has blank, liv, CHE, ars.. Pants has WHM, avl, tot, LEI.. not to mention the fact that you get Pants at 4.4 and everyone will want him in their Jan WC and will have to pay more for him. 2/3 points looks nailed on for Pants so it'll be a 1 point hit at max

just saw Aguero's injury again..I'm calling it now, LCL sprain/tear and out for at least 8 weeks..
the way he lunged out and landed was highly reminiscent of Walcott's..rather than stab very straight like Walcott (where he did his ACL), Aguero stabbed the ground at an angle as he was falling..

Wouldn't worry about ACON now. Just get them in and have a plan to shift them. Don't overthink it. You'll be kicking yourself if the ACON fellas deliver from now til then - which they look to do given form.
I am in the Aguero to Rooney camp, shrek offers a captaincy option at home, which you need with aguero out and hes unlikely to be subjected to festive rotation
this.. captaincy options are few and far between atm.. Hazard and Costa take up one spot, and apart from Sanchez the rest are just punts. Rooney is consistent
