While Gameweek 15 is shaping up to be one to forget for many Fantasy managers, our analysis of the weekend’s statistics for members offers some insight to distract us, notably the growing influence of Yannick Bolasie and West Ham’s efforts to maximise the formidable weapon that is Andy Carroll.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Raheem Sterling

    no goals since week 5

    only two double digit hauls in weeks 1 & 5

    how his price levitates with Sturridge still out mystifies me

    How does Fabz and Kun > Hart and Rooney for -4 sound?

    Have got Naylor as Swans coverage. Don't like the double up so looking to shift one.

    Is Chambers->Clichy worthwhile? Don't really fancy get SOT defence back in just yet so open to other suggestions.

    Defence is pretty lightweight, currently have: Azpi, Wisdom, Dummett, Chambers, Yun

        I can see Jovetic starting with Dzeko. I feel Pelle will want a target man up front, that's more of Dzeko's game than Jovetic. As for Pozo, he only came on so as to not risk injuring their only fit, senior striker, Dzeko.

          because I want Sakho and think he is a better option, 2 west ham isn't that great.

      Currently have as many as SIX injured/suspended players, so need to make some transfers.

      KRUL/ELLIOT
      Bertrand - CHAMBERS - N.Taylor - Hutton - Yun
      Sánchez - FÁBREGAS - Eriksen - Sigurdsson - Marney
      AGÜERO - Diego Costa - Austin

      Would you make these moves for -8 (got 2 FT)?
      Agüero -> Rooney
      Fábregas -> Hazard
      Chambers -> Baines
      Krul -> Pantilimon

      Would leave me with 1.2 ITB for further upgrades.

        Very tempting, I'm in a similar situation. Trying to decide whether it's worth the extra -4 for pant, when I could wait one more week for Elliot to be back. On the other hand, of pant scores an avg 2, it's only a -2 hit.

      -

      Hazard - Sigurdsson - Downing - Boyd
      Rooney

      (Fabianski/Gilks - Aguero - Fabregas - Austin) 1FT - £0.6

      Happy to go without a GK this GW. Hardly worth a hit?

      Some thoughts on the posts and articles and Xmas schedule I have read recently:

      I can't find that excellent post from Greenmill (i think) about the players who played every minute over the Xmas period, what I can remember was that the likes of Terry, Benteke and Yaya played every minute for their clubs. Having players that are proper nailed on is so vital over the Xmas period.

      In terms of forwards and the excellent post about Aguero replacements, I genuinely believe your front 3 should consist of Rooney, Benteke and Austin and if your not keen on Benteke then Bony instead but as you know he will be subbed off most games around the 67-70 minute mark. The three I have put forward will play every game, 2 are on pens as well. The Rooney positional debate for me is negated because Rooney is a proven FPL performer, he will get you points wherever he plays on the pitch.

      Look at the fixtures for Man United, Aston Villa and QPR over the Xmas period, golden in my eyes.

      Yaya Toure and Kompany are the ONLY 2 city players you should consider over the Xmas period, everyone else will see some rotation and I include Hart to a lesser extent. Their fixtures are ridiculously to good too ignore.

      Sanchez WILL get rested at some point, Wenger should do it sooner rather than later or he'll burn him out like Ozil. Chambers is soon to not be nailed on, get rid, simple as.

      And finally whilst I was out yesterday and checked the Villa score, see-ing Hutton score and imagined how happy this site was 🙂 Merry Xmas you slags!

      more arguments about luck on this article. i agree with triggerlips by the by. it was nice of lady luck to guide me to those 4 consecutive top 6k finishes. all the hours of effort i put in was for naught seeing that the hand of providence steered me to where serendipity decided i belonged. in other words: noop. luck is but a small aspect. i'd say that to finish in the top 30k or so requires little luck and much effort

        I think it simply varies from person to person.

        Some will put in effort and be rewarded
        Some will put in effort and not be rewarded
        Some won't put in effort and be rewarded
        Some won't put in effort and won't be rewarded

        It's entirely variable for everyone.

          It's not all that different to a person's actual footballing ability. Some can try as hard as they like and get nowhere while for others it's oh so very easy.

          i think that if you make sensible decisions based on statistical analysis and visual observation, you will get a good rank. not necessarily wonderful, but solid. so i don't actually agree with you. but of course what one deems success is considered by another, abject failure. so i guess it's relative

        Good poker players win more money than they lose. But they don't win every time. I see fpl as no different. A luck based game where the skilful player will usually find a way to win more than they lose and generally will come out ahead.

        I've had 3 top 1kish finishes in 4 years. Didn't do anything different in the other year and finished 50k 🙂

        luck plays a part..but if u are getting all the mainstream players u are just 1 of many who are affected...so u would not lose out really. I have 7 captain blanks so far and still within 2k becos i pick all the safe captains and when they fail everybody fails.

        i think most impt to get a good end is

        1) play safe by getting all starters and reliable point getters..

        2) resist punts early (barkley, young are some of those who fails).

        3) resist making 1 gw transfer..it seldom works out

        4) wait until the player is back b4 u get him (walcott, sturridge for eg)

        5) safe captaincy

        boring game but with that your team should be solid and u will have a respectable rank.
