Our Sunday delve into the members data arrives once again this evening. We cast an analytical eye over Tottenham’s goalscoring playmaker, Palace’s in-form frontman and the Magpies’ flourishing Frenchman, whilst the worrying form of Villa’s misfiring target man and United’s skipper give cause for concern.
Who is the best mid-priced midfielder to invest in?
Mr.Ambiguous, give us a price range
Brilliant stuff...
I wish I knew 🙁
Downing, easy.
I'm not in agreement with that.
Santi Cazorla
Sub 7: Chadli, Punch, Elias?
Maybe Johnson.
Punt: FellainiChadli safe, punt on Punch.
Sanchez
RMWCT: Too much arsenal?
Panti--Hamer
Terry--Clyne--PvA--Hutton--Taylor
Haz--Sanchez--Cazorla--Puncheon--Elia
Aguero--Giroud--KaneI have the same 3 arsenal. The upcoming fixtures are too good to pass up
I would get some West Brom defense in there. Maybe Wisdom instead of Naylor. And why not downgrade one of your 5th mids and get Costa for Giroud?
I really like your team... keep it!
I wouldn't be having Naylor on a WC team right now....but I like the look of that squad overall quite a bit.
Cheers all, appreciated.
Swap naylor for wisdom? Could also bring in Zabaleta...
Have 6.5 for a defenderI'd much rather have Wisdom, yes.
Naylor to Wisdom is good.
Na, think we are finally starting to click and injuries looking on the up despite Arteta and Debuchy out for 3 months. Not sure on both Puncheon and Elia bit knee jerky
Arsenal defender?
Thoughts on this team lads? 0.3 ITB.
Foster Myhil
Terry Clyne Wisdom PVA Wasliewski
Sanchez Hazard Sterling Elia Albrighton
Costa Kane Kun
Sterling or Cazorla in your opinion? Also, what is the general consensus on Elia?Sterling
Puncheon over eliaCheers!
How nailed is Baird for West Brom?
We'll find out tomorrow
Rate it and receive some good karma!
How is this for a WC draft:
Pant+Hamer
Terry+Clyn+Wisdom+PVC+Wasi....
Sanchez+Hazard+Downing+Elias+Chadli
Aguero+Costa+Berahino
0 extra cashi love the berahino pick
downing may cause you worry (or at least the schedule does)
Template defense
i give it a 9/10Thanks, karma sent your way!
Who would you change for (gives 6.1 as I will loose value)?
Puncheon seems a downgrade
Johnson has fix, but is he stable enough
Henderson also have bad fixtures coming up
Nice but I'm personally not a fan of chadli
Ty, one doze of karma beamed up.
I havent owned him yet, but dont see the alternative. Who would you more like?Puncheon, Johnson, walters
Is Elia in a good move??
Looks good and so do his fixtures..5.5
5th choice mid with cracking fixtures.I got him on my WC.
Not for me.
I like him until Mane gets back from AFCON. Depends how many other punty sort of players you have
Should be not bad as rotator.
Im getting him on WC.
Didn't see the match today was traveling all day how did Aguaro play?
looked a bit rusty, but service was poor
Anonymous along with Silva. Don't think Kun had a shot completely shut out
He played?
Enjoy it 🙂
😛
In Coquelin's pocket

@Walsh left you a reply on the last page
@you left you a reply last page
I've had a terrible gw, not having Costa has really cost me. WC is now active, the only way is up
That's it. Stay optimistic. Good luck
32 all out, any good?
And yes, I played my WC last week...
😥Great score Inns, and you know it bud.
😕
Head up mate, get this sour GW out of your system.
You gotta fight this one out mateThanks Zasa. These terrible GWs are becoming a recurring thing for me now. Something needs to change...
Just trust your own judgement over anything else mate, you know what to do Inns. Smiley face.
Thanks bud
It gives the rest of us a chance at least 🙂
Ouch. But it wasn't for just one week.
one week too early I'm afraid... tough to lose costa and caz feel for you man
Tough GW Inns,
I'm 35 and out of the cup and not sure how to fix team. Will walk away from it today and come back later in the week after emotion has died down.
Best def to bring in for Chester who I brought in yesterday rookie error I know. Already have Wisdom,PVA, Hutton, Trippier. 4.4 or less to spend??? Thanks
Bellerin
You reckon he is worth the gamble with Chambers sniffing around that position too?
Yes. He was brilliant today and why fix what's not broken right?
Go for bellerin
IM BENCHING AGÜERO NEXT WEEK
(now that I have ur attention)
RMWCT
Panti, Krul
Terry, Clyne, Bruce, Bellerin, Wisdom
Hazard, Sanchez, Sterling, A.Johnson, Puncheon
Costa, Aguero, Bojan
0.8itbWhy bojan over kane?
Like the rest. Johnson punt could be smart. Good fixtures to come.Cheers
1. Fixtures
2. Money
3. Differential
- Asset or eliability?
I'm surprised to see Eljero Elia being put in so many wildcard teams. Yes, he scored two goals against Newcastle, but the full picture is a little different.
Elia has really only had one and a half good seasons out of seven and was awful in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen. Admittedly this was in a struggling team, but his attitude was very poor (unfocused, aimless, divaesque) and there's been no real development in his play for ages.
He can dribble, but hasn't developed a broad range to his passing game like Robben, so defenders work him out very quickly. Mané is very clearly a cut above him in overall play.
Elia's nearest equivalent would be to two other players whom Bremen were extremely relieved to flog to a Premier League club. On the pitch, Marko Marin, another flashy dribbler of a wide player with little end product, and - off the pitch - Marko Arnautović, in that both Elia and the Stoke midfielder always believed that everyone else in Bremen was to blame other than him.
Like Arnautović, Elia's flashy personality didn't fit a small city like Bremen - both players were suspended by Werder in 2013 for their nightly escapades. Elia also lost his driving licence in April 2014 for speeding in his red Bentley and driving with an invalid licence. Koeman is going to have his work cut out to make a team player out of him in Southampton. It could work, but the odds are against it.
In the end, Werder coach Skripnik was given clear instructions by the club management not to select him in order to force him to leave in the winter break. Despite his good start at Southampton, Bremen really don't want him back and are simply hoping to recoup as much of the €5.5 million fee as possible that they paid when signing Elia from Juventus in 2012.Simple points chasing as happens week in week out.
As always, thanks for the post PBJ
Great stuff as always PB
Elia has had a lot of off the pitch issues whilst also never being properly understood and backed by both his previous clubs and managers. Koeman understands him and Elia said in his interview how good it feels to be backed by both club and manager again. He just needs support which he now has so I think he will do well
Completely agree. Good post.
nice post. interesting reading. still a lingering doubt that maybe, just maybe koeman can bring out the best in him, and make him kop onto himself
Not a fan then? 😉
Great research & Interesting read as always PB.Thank you so much for this, cheers PB!
1 thing ive learned from fpl over the years is that every season, a January arrival explodes. Siggy was one. Cisse I think too. Tends to be players on loan playing for a contract. Also, players from bundesliga especially. And also those who are fresh. Elia ticks all these boxes. Worth a 5.5 punt with these fixtures I'd say
Soo many players are rubbish on paper and on pitch but make a good FPL picks. I think he could be one of them, at least for the short term anyway.
I agree with all that you've said there, think he's a poor pick. I do worry that he's going to be one of those that gets a run of form going, a bandwagon going, and keeps scoring flukey goals against the odds.
just a punt for the next 3/4. dont expect miracles but hoping he'll outscore downing. then its a straight swap back to donwing
at 5.5 he's worth a punt atleast until Mane is back
how about JWP? better pick at no. 10 role?
Strong case to Keep Austin over Kane for the next 3 games.
... are you about to make this strong case?
Not strong
posted this earlier but worth another shot i think 🙂
santi dances after assisting carroll goalHaha class
carroll?
giroud lol. no idea where carroll came into my head 😳
HAHA
Thinking of this team for WC
What do ppl think??
De gea panto
Clyne jones ivanovic wisdom van aan
Do Maria Oscar Sanchez Johnson Boyd
Costa pelle gayleNot a fan of 3x Man u. Also too many differentials
Fixtures though?
Why Pelle?!
Better fixtures coming up and saints playing well
But he isnt
Wouldn't say he's playing bad has got a few assists
4th top scoring sticker in the game and good fixtures!
Points per game he's 10th.
No Goals since Dec. 20th.
Scores last 11 weeks:
2, 4, 2, 1, 2, 6, 1, 7, 2, 2, 2
Keep talking yourself into it.Who are we talking about here... oh, Eden Hazard, that's right
I like it, OP.
- I'd have aguero over costa, myself
- i wouldn't double up on Utd defense (trade degea in for forster IMO)
- love the ivan pick over terry
- love the oscar and gayle picks -- i don't see these as punts
- pelle is as good a punt as any. fixtures and ownership in your favor
9.5 out of 10
nice to see a different WC team around herePelle has simply not performed up to even third striker status for months now. Certainly not "as good a punt as any" and you shouldn't be punting on strikers anyway. Gayle is punty enough.
Don't be fooled by Pelle's hot start which juiced up his numbers
im guessing zaba to kosc is a no brainer
It depends on rest of team but yes in general.
How's this for a wilcard? Feedback appreciated.
Panti Heaton
Terry Koscielny O'Shea Wisdom Wasilewski
Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Downing Boyd
Aguero Costa KaneDowning has bad fixtures coming up
Form > Fixtures
I don't think so anyway has top 4 sides coming up
Usually agree, but in this case, I can see Wham being shut out 3 times in the next 6 (liv, sot, CHE). Arguable of course, but Downing is unlikely to do much for a while IMO.
Not sure on downing and double spurs but the rest looks good.
Monitor Baird tonight instead of wisdom. West brim fixtures not great! I have both, hoping for pulis effect but will ship wisdom to bellerin or chambers depending on who's nailed! Good team! Have Kane too, but slightly worried by him! Might try shoehorn giroud in somehow! Great team IMO
Cheers mate, I was tossing up getting Kosc or Bellerin, but Kosc's goal threat was too tempting... might reevalute during the week though. Will see about Baird/Wisdom after the game
Safety score in Last Man Standing around the 28/29 mark.
Should survive another week
Quite low considering the average. Baines & WBA defenders are left for a few.
Need a defender who I could start every week
Lescott or Wollschied?I'd prefer Lescott, despite the worse fixtures. I would of course prefer not to have to start either week in week out though and find funds to afford rotational partners.
Wollscheid
So WC played...who are the likely double risers to make a bit of cash with?....Carzola? Oscar?
No double risers from this point forward. Downing may double rise but that would include the rise he had yesterday.
Maybe Henderson, Cresswell, and Jones as well but I doubt it
What a comeback by the Seahawks!!!!!
Go Seattle!
What is happening!? Packers throwing this away!
Time for D fence to hold on
🙁
plenty of time for Rodgers to cause some tears
Holy moly Mr Lynch
Coquelin' story is quite incredible. Always thought he had big potential from his brief cameos 3 or 4 seasons ago, even when he played at full back. He had that aggressive mentality soo many say Arsenal players lack. From Charlton back to the starting 11 this season, i hope he can keep this up, he's been great.
He looked great tonight
He's been great ever since returning. Makes you wonder why he went out on loan in the first place.
He just needed to grow a bit. Same as Matic when Chelsea sold him. Coquelin is the real deal
Charlton screams 'surplus to requirements' imo, quite the turnaround.
it's been fantastic. Here's hoping it continues
looks like a better more kick-ass flamini. liking the way he;s shouting at all the fancy-dans around him too
I loved that about him today
I don't really care about the shouting, but i do like the way he's quick to close down opponents, he can cover a lot of ground. Flamini tends to back away and join the defence whereas Coquelin presses forward and protects the defence.
My WC team so far.
Krul, Panti
Terry, Clyne, Wollscheid, Wisdom, Bellerin
Sanchez, Hazard, Adm, Puncheon, Boyd
Aguero, Berahino, Costa
Had Pva instead of Bellerin and Kane instead of Berahino but seem to like this better?Yeah that looks fine.
Hi guys, this is my team for next week:
Forster (Foster)
Bertrand / PvA / Terry (Lescott/Trippier)
ADM / Hazard / Cesc / Sanchez(c) (Boyd)
Falcao / Berahino / Kane
1.8m ITB and 2 FTs, WC is gone - my plan is to leave it for this GW, and then do eriksen and Aguero for ADM and Falcao the next GW - that sound sensible? CheersI think I have to suck it up and finally get Costa in (for good this time).
Which of Kane and Austin should go? Austin is probably safer, but I can see QPR blanking in a number of games coming up.Austin
Lose Austin
I had same dilemna. I went kane for a few reason.
One is cheaper, another is spurs are better than qpr.
Another was kane has had 1/2 a season and per game, beats austin.
But the clincher was austin even blanking at home now.
And his next 3 homes are Southampton, Spurs and Arsenal.
Not great.Short term, stk, SOU, sun beats wba, ARS, liv.
Cmon Green Bay!
48yd fg attempt to take it to OT
..... and..... good!
From an alumnus of my university no less!
Panti (Hamer)
Terry Ivanovic Clyne (PvA Baird)
Sanchez Hazard ADM Silva (Boyd)
Aguero Austin Kane
0.1m ITB, 1 FT.
A) Save
B) Any changes?
Really like the look of the team but the results weren't good today (39 pts with a 3pt captain included). Think I should hold the transfer TBH. Can upgrade Kane/Austin to Giroud (and downgrade someone) if they don't seem to be performing.
Thoughts?Silva to puncheon and Austin > giroud
That would be a -4 though. Surely that transfer isn't worth that?
Would rather wait a week and look to do that, yeah?At least lose Silva this week
