Robin Van Persie has now declared himself “medically fit” and will begin the final stages of rehabilitation in recovering from the ankle ligament injury that has kept him out of action since early November. Van Persie will be returning from Holland to train with the Arsenal squad this week.
Arsene Wenger seems to be encouraged by the news as well, but by the sounds of things, he won’t be rushing the striker back with any immediacy:
“We sent our fitness coach to Holland where he has been doing his rehabilitation and we are told he looks very sharp… He will be back this week but we have to wait at least a month.”
If all goes smoothly when Van-Persie meets up with his colleagues this week then all looks set for him to bolster the Arsenal armoury before the season is out, and perhaps most importantly, help with the final push in the race for the Premier League title….
Van Persie boasted a points-per-game average of 7.7 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game when sidelined; that is currently only bettered by his team-mate Fabregas. Coming in at £10.1, Van Persie would also be a handy differential on the cards for the last few weeks of the season compared to the usual big guns of Rooney, Drogba and Torres.
Nicklas Bendtner owners will need to keep a watchful eye on proceedings so as to not get caught out now too, and those point boosting Fabregas penalties will look a thing of the past if and when Robin does return to the fray.
