While Carlos Tevez left his Fantasy owners feeling warm and smug once again – Robin Van Persie waltzed gracefully back onto the scene this evening to turn heads and leave even Tevez owners pondering their striking options.
Re-introduced back into the Gunners lineup back in Gameweek 21, we all knew Van Persie’s qualities. It seemed inevitable that they would bring him to the fore soon enough, and so it proved. Exploiting the seemingly relentless promptings of Cesc Fabregas in midfield, the Dutchman was the chief tormentor with two goals, as Arsenal simply toyed with West Ham at Upton Park in their 3-0 win.
Van Persie’s brace and impressive showing has seen him blink decisively on the radar tonight; his emergence as Arsenal’s new attacking consideration now threatens to banish the Fabregas vs Samir Nasri debate to sideshow status.
Arsenal have a run of exceptionally kind fixtures – they have a dream double fixture in Gameweek 27 and this evening we saw them reinstated as potentially the most devastating attack force in the league. Fantasy Managers will urgently need reminding of Van Persie’s propensity to pick up injuries in order to help resist what already appears to be a considerable pull towards the 9.6 valued striker.
Nasri owners will hope that this was simply Van Persie’s turn in the sun; that their man will be able to soon reinstate himself as Arsenal’s key goal threat. Investors in Fabregas meanwhile will be downbeat having watched Van Persie step up to their man’s spot-kick duties and claim the Arsenal skipper’s customary 3 Bonus Points.
The solution to such a problem is simple – buy in Van Persie and cover more bases. You can throw around talk of “eggs” and “one” basket, but on tonight’s evidence, Arsenal have the tools to exploit their forthcoming fixtures in devastating style and Van Persie looks the sharpest in the box.
