There’s an air of anticipation around the site this morning, as the 9am release of the 2011/12 Premier League fixture list allows us to start our Fantasy preparations for the season ahead in earnest. We’re still 3 or 4 weeks away from the publishing of the official Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Player Lists but, nevertheless, Fantasy managers can begin to pick apart the schedules and pencil in those players with strong starts to the season.

Gameweek 1 will see Man United begin their title defence away to West Brom, while second-placed Chelsea travel to Stoke City. Liverpool new boy Jordan Henderson hosts old club Sunderland, with Spurs-Everton the biggest tie of the opening weekend.

As for the new boys, Brendan Rodgers takes Swansea to Eastlands to face Man City, Norwich make their way to Wigan, while QPR are the only promoted side at home, playing host to Owen Coyle’s Bolton.

Last season Chelsea were quickest out the blocks thanks to a kind first five fixtures, with Didier Drogba racking up 55 pts and Florent Malouda 49 pts as Carlo Ancelotti’s side marched onto gameweek 6 with fifteen points already in the bag. Who will do the same this time round?

At first glance, Chelsea again look good, hosting West Brom, Norwich and Swansea in gameweek 2, 3 & 6 respectively, though have a trip to Old Trafford sandwiched in between in gameweek 5. United, on the other hand, have been handed a tricky first few weeks- their first three home games see Fergie’s side take on Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea. Arsenal also face a tough start; away to Newcastle on the opener, followed by Liverpool at home and that aforementioned trip to Old Trafford, the beginning to their season may not bring a smile to a certain Mr Wenger’s face this Friday morning. Wigan will find themselves subject to Fantasy investment, with matches against the three promoted sides in the first three weeks: (NOR, swa, QPR) will see bandwagons aplenty for Charles N’Zogbia.

We’ll have a far more in-depth article on the matter to follow from Andy but for now, though, enjoy the morning; FPL 2011/12 is one step nearer.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I assume you are excited about the Modric rumours? I would much rather Sneijder, personally. I wish we had Nasri on the radar too.

Yup, Modric would be a great signing, as would Sneijder. Don't see the two as mutually exclusive though. Sneijder can play in behind Torres and Modric can play deeper!

Nasri - meh. Although we desperately need someone who is competent out on the right.

hahaha, not a chance my friend πŸ˜‰ I agree nobody can take over from Walter. Although, Ally has spent years as his understudy I would rather him than any other.

I am concerned over the good half of Glasgow, I do not trust Whyte and I think we need McGregor & Jelavic to commit their future to Rangers.

Regardless what happens though, its going to be exciting πŸ˜‰

Sorry, I *am* carried away with Wigan already.

      I'm thinking:

      1 - All three of Sinclair, Taraabt; & Hoolihan in midfield;

      2 – As many ‘premium’ bods as budget permits - Hart, Kompany, RvP, Tevez if he’s here, Chelsea players I guess although not sure which ones – have big doubts about Torres, probably a defender, ideally they’ll sign a top-class new attacking midfielder;

3 – Fill the remaining slots with guaranteed Wigan starters plus any other obvious bargains; and

4 – Play wildcard in week 3-5, once it’s started to become clear what clubs’ first XIs are going to be.

Hope my calculations are right but for anyone interested in which budget keepers rotate the best, I've come up with the following list (based purely on one team being at home when the other is away)

    Rotate all 38 game weeks:
    Wigan and Bolton
    QPR and Swansea
    Newcastle and Sunderland
    Blackburn and Norwich
    Stoke and Aston Villa
    West Brom and Wolves

Rotate 34 out of 38 gameweeks:
    Stoke and Wolves
    West Brom and Fulham
    West Brom and Aston Villa
    Newcastle and Swansea
    Aston Villa and Norwich
    Blackburn and Stoke

      Hmm, Im liking Stoke-Villa
      or Newcastle-Sunderland

or Backburn Stoke, would be nice, but depends on keeping Samba

I may try the tripling technique, as I cant imagine I would want any forwards from those teams other than Bent??

Terry could become a decent option if we sign someone who can actually take a set piece properly. I didn't play FPL at the time, but I can imagine that EBJT was fantasy gold under Mourinho, with our excellent defence and Robben's set pieces.

This doesn't really matter considering we have (probably) two wildcards, where we can easily change keepers etc.

All I care about is the keeper pair that rotates best for the first few weeks, as I'll inevitably play my wildcard fairly early.

I've not given it much thought as it's quite pointless speculating when we don't know the prices (no offence!), but before the fixtures came out earlier I had a little think and it was pretty similar to yours.

Man City defender (I'll probably be a right idiot and get Kolarov again) & Glen Johnson.
Silva with cheapies elsewhere in midfield (another decent priced one if it can be afforded).
RVP Torres & Suarez up top.

oooft, with their champs league involvment at the time rotation could be a bitch.... De gea vidic and Rooney seem undroppable though.

Yeah a juicy run of clean sheets if the defence/keeper relationship is settled by then is quite possible.

Very interesting fixtures, as normally Arsenal have a good start, but this year they have poor starting fixtures

Every team seems to have good fixtures, then a tricky one, or tricky fixtures, then good ones

But that's why i love the PL

Stole this off you grimsdale, thanks.

    Rotate all 38 game weeks:
Wigan and Bolton - Al Habsi 4.5 & Jaask 4.5
QPR and Swansea - Kenny 4 & de Vries 4
    Newcastle and Sunderland - Harper 4.5 & Mignolet 4.5
    Blackburn and Norwich - Robinson 4.5 & Ruddy 4
Stoke and Aston Villa - Begovic 4.5 & Guzan 4.5
West Brom and Wolves - Carson 4 & Hennessey 4.5

Rotate 34 out of 38 gameweeks:
    Stoke and Wolves - Begovic 4.5 & Hennessey 4.5
West Brom and Fulham - Carson 4 & Schwarzer 4.5/5
West Brom and Aston Villa - Carson 4 & Guzan 4.5
Newcastle and Swansea - Harper 4.5 & de Vries 4
Aston Villa and Norwich - Guzan 4.5 & Ruddy 4
    Blackburn and Stoke - Robinson 4.5 & Begovic 4.5

Some decent ones there I reckon. Carson and Guzan probably not first choice.

United starting with another home fixture against a mid/ low table team. Sounds very familiar.
