Despite his exertions for Uruguay in this month’s Copa America, it seems Luis Suarez may well be ready for Liverpool’s opening game of the season at home to Sunderland.
The forward has been given a three-week break by his club but reports have surfaced in this morning’s papers suggesting he will cut short his holiday in preparation for the start of the 2011/12 campaign.
Suarez, voted Player of the Tournament for Uruguay as they swept aside Paraguay in Sunday‘s final, has already had a substantial rest period over the past few months; while at Ajax, he served a seven-match ban for biting an opponent in late November last year and had a fortnight break prior to the Copa America. Fears of burn-out, therefore, seem slightly off the mark.
While there has been no official line from either club or player on the matter, the story, nevertheless, carries significant weight for Fantasy managers as they continue tinkering with their squads ahead of the season opener on 13th August.
Liverpool’s starting trio of matches reads (SUN, ars, BOL) and Suarez, priced at just 9.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) has already shown in the second half of last season just how integral he will be to Kenny Dalglish’s side next term- a look at our Members Area confirms we have similarly high expectations for Suarez in 2011/12. For those looking for early Liverpool forward investment, Andy Carroll, at 10.0, looks the better bet until the situation offers more clarity.

My first post! What do people think about having Gervinho and RVP? Risky? If they played for different teams they'd be straight in my team without thinking. Thoughts welcome..
