FPL Issue Apology

Evening all. The FPL have this afternoon issued an apology over the recent log-in debacle and look to have made changes on the back of the weekend’s problems.

The link to the full announcement is highlighted above, so I’ll leave you to check it out for yourselves if you haven’t done so already. The first point (below) means we are all allowed free transfers from now up until the Gameweek 2 deadline on Saturday morning- compensation for many of us who were unable to make those last-minute changes from Friday evening onwards..

1. Receive unlimited transfers
No points will be deducted for any transfers you make up to the Gameweek 2 deadline (11:30 BST on Saturday 20th August 2011). If you have already made transfers and had points deducted, these will be restored to your overall total by midnight on Tuesday 16th August 2011. If you have already opted to play your wildcard, this too will be restored at the same time.

From a Fantasy Football Scout perspective, then, just to assure you- we will be resetting any of our affiliated leagues- they will all now start from Gameweek 2 to ensure a level playing field for those involved.

    do you think players prices will go up tonight/tomorrow or will they hold fire until the weekend?

    Not sure weather to go bonkers tonight or wait till Friday and have a better think about what im gonna do

      It's based on numbers of transfers, not whether they feel like increasing or decreasing prices.

        And if it the prices do increase/decrease overnight, is it definite that because he's "protected", Suarez's price won't rise despite the enormous number of 'transfers in'? If so that would suggest Torres is a better option fat this moment in terms of taking advantage of a potential price rise...?

    My first post although have been a member for some time.
    Thought it worth sharing my view re this free transfer situation.
    This isn't a hoax; the reason the page it's been announced on looks like last year's FPL site is because the announcement is on the MAIN Premier League site, not the FPL site (the former is in the process of being updated to look like the latter but it's not ready yet, as they allude to under the 'isolated incidents' section of their apology. As for links to the apology itself, just google Premier League and their site is the first hit and it's on the home page!
    The apology is on the official Premier League site so there's no way it's a hoax (it won't have been hacked, love the conspiracy theories lol) and it clearly states that all transfers prior to GW2 deadline (whether made via points hits or wildcards) will essentially be 'refunded' (and if they don't do this they will lose whatever credibility they have left, so it will happen for sure).
    As to what they'll do with players' values, that's anyone's guess!

    3-4-3 is the best formation. BUT I think they have tried to trick people this year with the new system. It awards defensive players more than usual! Maybe 4-3-3 is the way to go... with baines and cole

    If you've used your Wildcard, when it's restored, after that will you still be able to make unlimited transfers?

      It would make no difference. Either way unlimited transfers end on Saturday, wildcard or not

    The server will crash again on Friday night/Sat morning. It crashed tonight briefly just for the Aguero bum-rush. No way will it survive again.

    I chickened out a little and used my wildcard just in case and now after setting my team it says I have unlimited trasnfers. Can anyone confirm wildcards will definitely be given back?

      Yes they will. Absolutely guaranteed. No points deductions regardless of number of transfers and wildcard will be restored.

    So Rooney, Aguero and Torres ruins my team.
    2/3 + Suarez seems to be better.
    Who to drop?
    AGuero - 2 away fixtures may get rotated when Carlos returns?
    Rooney - Two home fixtures, good form.
    Torres - Hasn't scored yet but easiest fixtures but I'll probably captain him next week.

    For those attempting to make .1m on their budget by getting in players who may rise in price by .2m over the next few days; First off, this scenario seems very unlikely, I think the most probable outcome is that prices are frozen until after the GW2 deadline. According to TFPL Gary Cahill was very likley to rise in price overnight, this did not happen and may indicate there will be no price changes. We have had no confirmation on price rises/falls though, as such I myself couldn't avoid the chance and brought in a few bandwagon players. Even then making .1m is not my primary concern.

    I personally would be more worried about losing .1m on players currently in my team dropping in price as there will be a lot of ins and outs now. For example RVP may be shipped out in high numbers to accomodate the likes of Aguero/Rooney/Suarez).

    My secondary concern would then be not being able to afford the extra .1m for any players that do go up that I may eventually want.

    Only then would I think about playing the buy-to-sell market. So if there are price changes look out for price falls first and price rises in lucrative players second.
