Liverpool’s upcoming run of three very favourable fixtures affords Luis Suarez a climb in our updated Watchlist rankings.
Two goals in his last three games have seen the Uruguayan return to form, having previously drawn blanks in the previous three fixtures as the Reds were sent tumbling to defeat at Stoke and Spurs. Steven Gerrard’s return in last Saturday’s game with Man United confirmed Andy Carroll’s game time may be limited; Dirk Kuyt looks a more suitable partner for Suarez up top, making the Uruguayan the only Liverpool Fantasy-classified forward with seemingly assured starts right now.
From Gameweek 9-11 Suarez squares up to (NOR, wba, SWA) and the prospects look enticing. The Canaries have yet to chalk up a clean sheet and have conceded 3 goals at Chelsea and 2 away to Man United- Kenny Dalglish’s side will expect to grab a couple at least here.
The following game at West Brom may be trickier than it looks, though- the Baggies have conceded just one goal in their last three home games but after that, Swansea roll up to Anfield. Brendan Rodgers’ side have shipped an average of 3 goals per game on their travels and the omens look good for Suarez; he’s already scored and picked up maximum bonus points in two of his four games at Anfield this term.
While Champions League football has seen rest and rotation amongst the Manchester clubs, Liverpool’s lack of European competition suggests Suarez is virtually a guaranteed starter. With testing fixtures against Chelsea and Man City to subsequently follow, the Reds will be looking for maximum points beforehand to maintain their chase of the European places.
Suarez, at 9.5 and with 37% Fantasy ownership –the third-highest in the game at present- surely looks set to plunder the Fantasy points over those next three Gameweeks. With such a high percentage of owners, any substantial returns could see those Fantasy managers without his services suffer a tumble down the rankings as a consequence.
