FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

    Enrique walker simpson Evans brown

    Ba RVP ade

Got 1.2 in the bank with 2FT and thinking of simply shipping silva to bale this week then Sinclair to osman and brown to jags next week….

he'll still be one of the top scoring mids but not nearly as explosive. Bale will almost certainly outscore him overall but will be less consistent.

the money difference will be lessened by Bale's rise and Silva potentially dropping anyway. Not sure there's another way around it for you if say you downgraded Ba, it may require two changes and a hit and would put you in a weaker position overall though.

Struggling with my starting XI this week. Currently it is:

    Vorm
    Jones, Verm, Enrique, Walker
    Nani, Silva, Mata
    RVP, Ade, Sturridge

    Krul, Ben Arfa, Surman, Naylor

I'm selling Ben Arfa for Drenthe, either this week or next for DGW. My main issue is whether to play 3-4-3 or 4-3-3. Newcastle lineup should be out before deadline. If Ben Arfa starts, should I bring him in for Enrique/Walker or leave him benched? If he doesn't start, I'm selling for Drenthe and I then have the same dilemma over Drenthe/Enrique/Walker.

I hope we keep him. It's hard to say since he's had a number of injury problems, his form hasn't been great and he made some comments recently which suggested his relationship with Allegri could be better. I think he will stay, since he's our only young striker. Plus, his relationship with Berlusconi's daughter sort of ties him to the club, possibly.

Yeah thats correct, im really close to doing it right now, was going to do it to valencia but already got nani, dont really wanna double up. think i may do it ya know, plays norwich next doesn't he and is bang in form, bound to score more than silva also, silva just isn't pulling anything out the bag as of late, can always get him back if i choose to as well.

Curiousity to me that Friedel is not in the discussion here with resepct to a 3rd Tottenham choice. I brought him in for Schwarzer, and in 3 GWs he's scored 10, 4, 8. The Tottenham DGW are both at home against 2 prime CS candidates. Managers are grabbing up BAE and Walker, but Friedel has more points for a similar price. It's about points, right ?

Most people are comfortable with their keepers. Who's going to get rid of Vorm, say, for a 50-year-old Yank with a nice DGW?

      Valid point, mind.

I was just looking for a 4 week flyer through the DGW, then WC back into a rotation guy with Vorm (thinking Hennessey), but now I might keep Friedel; if Dawson comes back and the Tot back 4 solidify, no reason Friedel can't get near Hart/Reina/Cech clean sheet territory.

I've had Vorm since GW1 but I'm also wondering, in the second half of the season, whether teams aren't going to catch on to SWN, pressure high, and start taking it to them. I don't think SWN will keep anywhere near the CS they did the first half. I'm thinking about cashing Vorm in, actually.

For me it was because Friedel was quite expensive for a keeper (5.5)... where I could find better keepers for cheaper (sorensen, krul, vorm,)

Where as BAE is relatively cheap for a defender, plus has more chance of assists/baps/goal(v v v v v unlikely)

IE Sorensen & BAE would be my preffered choice over Friedel & a good defender, as I'd be able to save about a mil to use elsewhere

This talk of Smalling is not good for me, current team:

    Smalling Kompany Hibbert (Evans, Simpson)
    Drenthe Larsson Silva Nani(vc) (Ramsey)
    RVP(c) Ade Sturridge. 2FT 0.2M in bank

    Which sounds best?:
    1) Ramsey and Silva OUT for Walters and Bale
    2) Smalling and Ramsey OUT for Walters and Walker
    3) You have a better idea?

Not got the cash to do Ramsey OUT for Walters.
