While the Anfield faithful celebrate their Carling Cup semi-final victory over Man City, the minds of Fantasy football managers have already moved on to more pressing matters.

Following on from their 3-2 aggregate win this evening, we have another blank fixture looming, with the promise of a double Gameweek to come.

Prior to this evening, Liverpool were set to play host to rivals Everton in Gameweek 26, on Saturday February 25. However, with a trip to Wembley to face Cardiff in the final on the Sunday now secured, this league fixture will be postponed.

As a result, Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures (wlv, TOT, mun, blank, ARS) tell a fairly grim tale, while their Merseyside rivals have an equally unappealing slate ahead of them (MCY wig, CHE, blank, qpr).

The flipside of this, of course, is that this fixture will need to be rearranged and will undoubtedly, at some point, give both of these teams a double Gameweek. It’s now down to the Premier League to find the most appropriate date to reschedule the clash.

For now, we can only really speculate when the double Gameweek will fall. With both sides uninvolved in European competitions, there will certainly be many midweek slots available. We will, of course, share the news of the rescheduled fixture as soon as word breaks.

While the Carling Cup has made the impact on the Merseyside, the FA Cup will likely be the major factor behind all impending double Gameweeks this season. With such a tight schedule ahead of the European Championship, fixture congestion awaits.

Every FA Cup game from the quarter-finals, through to the Wembley showpiece, will take place on a Premier League weekend. The last eight of the competition will be contested in Gameweek 29, so we can expect plenty more rescheduling and double Gameweeks to arrive for the sides who make it through the next two rounds and beyond.

I’m on WC and originally planned to drop for Caulker since I downgraded Vorm but I’ve since changed my tune.

I got BAE in when he was £5.2m. The way I see it is Simpson and BAE have a mixed bag of fixtures yet rotate perfectly. Spurs are one of the best defensive teams and he is a steal if they can keep their defensive form, especially from GW28 onwards.

Then again, I’m going with Dzeko over Aguero so I can afford the extra £1.5m.

Started left back with Warnock being dropped against Wolves. Didnt look comfy against Jarvis and was moved into centre mid, where i helped set up a Keane goal.
I’d expect Warnock to come back into the side at left back meaning Clark is likely to partner Petrov in the centre of midfield.

none of his injuries are mysterious – knee, shoulder knocks are fairly common for someone who has his style of play. most importantly, he almost never uses it as an excuse for his losses. and surely he’d be called out on “delaying tactics” or “cheating” more often by the chair or his peers if it occurred as frequently as you suggest. I always look to what a player’s biggest rival thinks of him and Fed has the utmost respect for Rafa (and vice-versa). I challenge you to find a more humble player of his stature.

A the moment I’ve got Helguson as he’s most likely to score for us.

This is just a feeling, but I reckon Buzsacky is going to thrive under Hughes and take over from Taarabt as our creative midfielder. He trains hard, something Taarabt is notorious for not doing.

At £4.4m he frees up a lot of cash and can sit on your bench easily enough if he’s not playing. If you want a cheap 5h mid then he’s worth a punt.

Nowhere near that amount, Attila. He wasn’t on that much at City so why would we pay him £20k more?

My hearing is its nearer the £40k+ region.

Helluva player there. Think he’ll start in Central Defence but Hughes has said he needs to get his fitness up so may well have a few sub appearances first.

If we can get Diakite today then we won’t ever have to use Hill and Derry unless its a dire emergency from now on.

elninorules needs a funky WC idea for GW24-28. Speak to me! says:

Not really. Hernandez out of favor, Nani/Vidic/Jones/Young/Clev injured, Pig unable to run more than a yard. You might as well walkover, methinks ;)

          nomar says:

Buzsacky is more of an attacking midfielder. Diakite would oust Derry (thank goodness).

I get the feeling Taarabt might not last under Hughes. The players in immediate danger I believe will be Derry, Hill and Mackie.

At the moment I’d say it would probably be a MF of Buzsacky, Diakite, Barton, SWP (assuming Diakite signs).

I just have a bad feeling for Taarabt, of his own making really, that he is a lazy trainer and that’s the worst thing you can bring to the table if you’re in a Mark Hughes team. Hughes has a tough training regimen whereas Warnock’s ‘training’ sessions were a laugher.

Taarabt used to turn up late and not train hard. You think he’ll get away with that now? Or will be prepared to train hard now?

            Now back to me says:

Hughes doesn’t strike me as one of those managers who won’t take any shit from their players. He persisted with Robinho despite several lazy and ineffective performances just becasue of his obvious potential. I think he will do the same with Taarabt, at least, to begin with.

              Good point.

Still think Taarabt needs to get fitter and buck up his ideas though. If he can get the best out of Taarabt then all well and good as he’ll have a terrific talent on his hands.

Any suggestions for a 5.7 or more midfielder?

They still have problems scoring away from home. I think have one or the other but not both. Having 2 Fulham players is OK as long as one of them is Senderos.

Yeah i have Senderos, but am doubting his potential, 4 cleansheets in 14! They just aren’t as tight under Jol, some people are doubling up on Fulham defenders! With that stat, is he really worth the extra .4 on Kelly?

If they both start then Kelly is far better value as their attacking stats are similar.

Kelly looks more likely to be rotated so I’m going for Senderos. Not saying he will be…

“I love to attack and I love to go up front...It is a little more difficult than when you are playing centre-back. If you play the way that I want to play, I think my influence is better as a left-back. For the team, it is best that I play as a centre-back. I like to bring the ball out. You need to move the game quickly, and that is one of my qualities as well.”

Jan Vertonghen outlines what he feels is his best position for Andre Villas-Boas
