The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 15

We’ve got Paddy on the ropes again. A week after our bookmaker friends clawed back our early season winnings, we’re now firmly in profit after back-to-back wins. Following a treble windfall back in Gameweek 13, Christian Benteke and Aston Villa delivered the goal and clean sheet we needed to recall another victory in midweek. Now let’s see if can make it a hat-trick of wins with this week’s Scout Picks inspired markets…

Theo Walcott is first up – another man in form having scored the Gunners’ goal at Goodison on Wednesday. Walcott picked up an ankle knock in that game but trained on Friday and will be expected to be the key threat when Swansea visit the Emirates. This one looks a lip-smacker and with Walcott so integral to Arsenal’s goal threat, we like the look of odds of 5/1 on a Theo goal with a Gunners clean sheet against a Swansea side who have scored just three times in their last five away trips. We’ll take this one for £2 of our stake.

West Brom’s Shane Long crops up next. The impish striker is another in bloom, having notched five times for the Baggies this term. He will go into the clash with Stoke fully rested having sat on the bench for the defeat to Swansea in midweek. Steve Clarke has demanded a reaction to that setback and a win with a Long goal looks a favourable outcome. With West Brom keeping four clean sheets at the Hawthorns this season and Stoke likely to be without Peter Crouch, we’re more than happy with Paddy’s odds of 11/2 on a Long goal with a West Brom shut-out. We’re throw another £2 at that one.

We’re all waiting on QPR’s resurgence under Harry Redknapp and, with Villa at Loftus Road this weekend, there seems to be a perfect opportunity to get the ball rolling. Scout Pick Adel Taarabt is a player we’ve talked plenty about on the site over the season so far, and, as Chris Glover’s Moneyball article revealed, we’re just waiting on Taarabt to deliver on his numbers. This weekend would be a perfect time to start and with Paddy dangling 9/1 on a Taarabt goal with a QPR clean sheet, we can’t resist. This is our bet of the week which gets a healthy £4 stake.

That leaves a couple of quid for our usual treble punt. We couldn’t let the Gameweek pass without bringing Luis Suarez into events so Paddy’s treble offers 12/1 on a Suarez goal against Southampton, a David Silva assist against Everton and a West Brom clean sheet at home to Stoke. That combination gets our final £2 as we look to claim our third win in a week from Paddy.

Oh yeah, this stuff about Hazard being benched, does it have substance or is it speculation?

All I have seen about Chelsea is speculation (here) based on some info that Marin will play and that Rafa has talked up rotation.

Thats a little relief. Took an 8pt hit to get in Hernandez, Enrique, Suarez and Giroud. Looking like it will backfire badly!

I thought it was Oscar on the bench for Marin. I also heard Giroud is on the bench for Arsenal:

Walcott C?! Wow GB, that takes some balls given options of RVP and Aguero.

Any thoughts on this 13 fold accumulator?

    Both teams to score-
    Carlisle v Bournemouth
    Ajax v PSV
    Munich v Dortmund
    Millwall v Charlton
    Fulham v Tottenham
    Man City v Everton

    Lyon (Win) v Montpellier
    Juventus (Win) v Torino
    Schalke 04 (Win) v Monchengladbach
    Barcelona (Win) v Bilbao
    Leicester (Win) v Derby
    Reading v (Win) Man Utd
    Arsenal (Win) v Swansea

Well, you could come up with far more likely accumulator to actually happen, but it wouldn't pay as well.

Hope you're getting really good odds on, for example, Reading beating United.

It pays just over £1,000 at a stake of £5 and its UTD to beat Reading by the way.

Do you know why it's paying over 1000/1 because it is incredibly difficult to predict 13 things without getting a single one wrong. I would be hesitant about the both teams to score bets. I couldn't see all of them happening.
