Sunday Dugout Discussion

With Gareth Bale and Michu tearing up defences and delivering big returns from Saturday’s matches, there’s much anticipation ahead of Sunday’s programme. While Aston Villa’s clash with West Ham seems likely to be an edgy battle of attrition, the Old Trafford clash between United and Everton looks to have a lot going for it. Sir Alex Ferguson’s teamsheet will be of keen interest in that one, while the Toffees will be looking to repeat last season’s thrilling 4-4 draw and perhaps keep the title race interesting.

The early team news is in and sees Paul Lambert make three changes to the Villa XI, with Nathan Baker, Fabian Delph and Jordan Bowery replacing Joe Bennett, Karim El Ahmadi and Gabby Agbonlahor.

For the Hammers, Joe Cole and Emanuel Pogatetz come in for Matt Jarvis and Ricardo Vaz Te; Guy Demel is on the bench.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to provide a backdrop to the day’s action.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My defence: Zabaleta - Rafael - Clyne (Selling (A) Enrique or (B) Davies) Who would you sell? (I bought Enrique at 5.7 & Davies at 4.2)

Anyone tempted to double up on Rooney and RVP for United attacking coverage?

Some very tasty fixtures coming up.

You could try RVP and Hernandez, one is always guaranteed to play when the other isnt.

I think Evans will have more PPI than Rafael.. 3/3 shots on target + 2 blocks.

So basically, either Rooney or RVP will score big week in week out (unless its a 6 goal thriller in which both get points). This debate of RVP vs. Rooney should just be dropped and we should go for both 😀

Not a bad call. Realistically they won't be far away from each other points wise.

Exactly. I personally feel that RVP will just outscore Rooney until the end (maybe because I have him lol), but it won't differ too much

Not for it at all. Makes captain choice a real headache. Better off captaining RVP every game to average it out for rest of season. If taking this approach, I would never have a player that costs 11.9 without being able to captain him.

Chances are Arsenal-Everton would be rescheduled to gw30 if moved from gw29, right? Midweek slots available 19/20 and 26/27 March, which would both be in gw30.

Just trying to work out when to play my WC. Not sure it's worth getting many Everton players for ars + MCY. Nor getting rid of my Arsenal players for a blank gw29 and then getting them back straight away for
EVE+swa REA wba NOR ful, even if it is on a wildcard.

So I guess I'm really hoping for a bit more disruption and a more fulsome DGW.

I sincerely hope it's a DGW like last season (which came in GW36 if I remember) witch a BUNCH of teams involved. That way it's more towards the end of the season and we could really use the WC without looking back!

Sir Alex Ferguson: "I was going to make more changes before City lost, but I thought it became a more important game for us then"

I really don't get this...it doesn't make any sense. It became a more important game BECAUSE Man City lost? What if City had won? Would it be less important? No, it would be more important.

    Makes absolutely no sense!

It means we can rest players later in the season, now that the league is almost sewn up.

Bit like playing your full strenght side for the first 4 CL group games, getting 12 points on the board then resting players in games 5 and 6.

Makes perfect sense. What is the best way to know your opponent out? Knocking him out in the 5th round when he's hurt instead of resting and letting him get back into the fight. No idea why im using a boxing analogy but you get my point.
