Our final league round-up of the 2012/13 season focuses on the Champions League competitions. As Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund prepare to do battle at Wembley tomorrow evening, we take one last look at the goings-on in both Uefa’s official game and TotelFootball. The deadline for the former game is 7.30pm tomorrow evening, with Fantasy managers afforded seven free transfers to freshen up their squads after Barcelona and Real Madrid were sent packing in the previous round:
UCL Scout League Standings
Oxido_76 has an 11 point advantage at the top of the Scout League as we head into the final. At present, he has four Bayern players already in place (Thomas Muller, David Alaba, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Jerome Boateng) but will be looking to add some attacking options, given that the latter trio make up three of the back-four, despite Alaba’s classification as a midfielder. Oxido_76 also has a couple of Dortmund players in his squad – Marco Reus and Mario Gotze sit in midfield, though the latter is conveniently ruled out injured ahead of a move to Bayern this summer. Our leader sits on 811 points – 16th in the overall standings, though some 34 points off the world number one.
Sitting in second is ssgl1. He loaded up on Real Madrid players for their game against Dortmund match last time out and now has five players to shed from the Spanish side. So far, he has five Bayern players installed – the above-mentioned quartet along with centre-half Dante Bonfim – and also has a couple of Dortmund players in his squad in the shape of Felipe Santana and Sebastien Kehl. He sits on 800 points, which is enough to earn him 30th spot in the overall standings.
Former Scout League number one melonfresh now occupies third position. He has four players from each of the German sides and requires less of an overhaul than the top two – Alaba and Schweinsteiger are joined by Arjen Robben and Philippe Lahm for Bayern, while Reus and the stricken Gotze are amongst his Dortmund contingent along with star forward Robert Lewandowski and raiding right-back Lukasz Piszczek. Melonfresh is currently in 795 points, or 41st overall.
In fourth spot is tscn3. He takes a tumble after a 53 point haul in the semi-finals but already has 11 players in place ahead of tomorrow’s final – Gotze will need to make way, though, while he also has the dilemma of choosing between Manuel Neuer and Roman Weidenfeller in goal. Differential-wise, he also has Mats Hummels, Marcel Schmelzer and Jakub Błaszczykowski from Dortmund, in addition to Bayern’s Javi Martinez. Our fourth-placed manager has 788 points to his name – or 76th spot in the standings,
Finally, we welcome Russ Kitson back to the top five. Consistent for the majority of the Champions League campaign, Russ has just six players available for selection for tomorrow’s final and requires plenty tinkering, with the likes of Arjen Robben, Robert Lewandowski and Franck Ribery all looking likely targets in his refresh.
TotelFootball Scout Pool Standings
As explained in our previous Totel Football article, there was a twist in the transfer tactics prior to the semi-finals getting underway. After Fantasy managers submitted their squads for the last four, we were unable to make any more alterations – those who loaded up on Barcelona and Real Madrid players, then, will be bracing themselves for a tumble down the rankings.
The Totel Football Scout Pool, which takes in each player’s top four Gameweek scores, is currently led by Ali Kaz. He currently sits on 435 points, with 180 points accrued from his “Final Series†squad so far. With all 15 of his squad selected from Bayern and Dortmund, he’ll be confident of staying on top.
In second spot is Dandandand. He sits in 428 points and also benefitted from the decision to pack his squad full of Bayern and Dortmund players – out top two have eight of the same first XI, with the battle between Hummels, Schmelzer and Robben against Piszczek, Boateng and Błaszczykowski set to be decisive.
Milehigh is also in the mix. Sitting in third, he’s on 424 points but, like our top two, he selected Gotze in his first XI and won’t get any replacement points off the bench tomorrow, as the playmaker has already featured in the semis. JKane is a further two points behind after dropping down to fourth spot, while DLL18 completes the top five after climbing to 418 points after the semi-finals.
