Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez make light work of struggling Sunderland, as Brendan Rodgersโ€™ decision to continue with a 3-5-2 formation allows the Redsโ€™ duo the chance to shine:

The Game Changer

A goal and a pair of assists took Daniel Sturridge to the top of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings this evening as Liverpool eased to victory in Sunderlandโ€™s first league match since the dismissal of Paolo Di Canio.

While the spotlight was on Luis Suarez, his Liverpool team-mate was amongst the points yet again as Sturridge atoned for a rare blank against Southampton last weekend with another handful of Fantasy points. Some were wary that Suarezโ€™ return would diminish Sturridgeโ€™s potential but the former Chelsea man showed great awareness to tee up both the Uruguayanโ€™s goals as Liverpool climbed to second.

Priced at 9.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Sturridge – along with Suarez โ€“ is set for significant investment over the next few days as the Merseysiders prepare for a home clash with Palace next weekend. While many of the other title contenders now have European commitments to contend with this week, Liverpool can now rest up until the Eagles come calling next Saturday afternoon; a factor that will surely benefit Sturridge as he looks to continue a record that has seen him score in five of the opening six Gameweeks.

The Underused

There was no real surprise that Luis Suarez stole the show on his return to league action earlier today. We handed the Uruguayan the headline act in this weekโ€™s Spot the Differential article and he duly delivered with a brace as Liverpool, somewhat significantly, scored more than two goals for the first time this term.

In a season that has mainly proved frustrating for Fantasy managers, Suarezโ€™ instant impact served a reminder of the potential that harvested 23 goals and 10 assists last time round. While fellow big hitters such as Robin Van Persie and Sergio Aguero were protected ahead of Champions League duties, Suarez will benefit from a schedule which has also been lightened by Liverpoolโ€™s Capital One Cup exit in midweek โ€“ game time looks guaranteed, with rest and rotation unnecessary for Rodgers.

Currently sitting at 10.9 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) with an ownership of just 7%, the bandwagon is set to shift through the gears as Fantasy managers look to find a way to bring Suarez on board as the Reds gear up for a favourable run of fixtures over the next few matches. Indeed, with Palace, Newcastle, West Brom and Fulham in the next five, doubling up on Liverpoolโ€™s front two looks a viable tactic for the next few Gameweeks.

The Selection Poser

Brendan Rodgers once again rolled out a 3-5-2 formation for the Merseysiders, continuing with the shape utilised in the midweek Capital One Cup clash against United. With Glen Johnson still injured, Rodgers clearly remains unconvinced over his alternatives at right-back and with a number of centre-halves at his disposal, looks set to retain a three-man backline until Johnson returns to the fold.

This will allow Jose Enrique to continue on the left of the Redsโ€™ five-man midfield, affording the Spaniard an out of position berth for the time being โ€“ an injury update issued last week suggested Johnson could be back in a “couple of weeks”, though. Also, the new formation also allows Rodgers to court caution with Daniel Agger after recent injury but with Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho all playing today, it remains to be seen just who will get the nod as Aggerโ€™s central defensive partner once the Merseysiders are finally injury-free. Enriqueโ€™s shift into midfield also allowed Victor Moses a central position behind Sturridge and Suarez though the on-loan midfielder failed to impress in his new role in โ€œthe holeโ€.

In the earlier game, Nathan Redmond missed out through injury for Norwich at Stoke. Having started each of the first five, the former Birmingham man was replaced by Anthony Pilkington at the Britannia and with the latter providing the assist for Jonny Howsonโ€™s winner, Chris Hughton has plenty to ponder ahead of next weekโ€™s clash against Chelsea, with Redmondโ€™s 4% FPL owners hoping he can force his way back into contention.

Is Mignolet, Suarez & Sturridge too much pool?

I am looking for an exit route on RvP and I only really see Sturridge as the only option. Others are Lukaku (Man C next, unsure of starts), Rooney (Man U not firing) and Soldado (not found form).

    Thanks!

There is no way he's dropping Ramsey right now. One of Arteta/Flamini + Ramsey is better balanced than Wilshere and Ramsey. Wilshere not as good on the wing as the others when they're fit.

Yeah i agree he's not on form. Before his injury though, Ramsey was thought to be a better prospect. Think that's coming to light now. Not saying Wilshere's bad, i'd love him at United for example but he's overrated based on what he's done so far.

Hmm find it hard to see Wenger dropping both Arteta/Flamini tbh in a first choice lineup, but what do i know.

            100%

An on-form Wilshere is top class. Not quite at the races yet. If he gets to the races, Arsenal's defence gets less generous, Santi plays like he can and the other 'contenders' drop points as readily as they've been doing in first 6 weeks then Gunners will be in the hunt for the league. That's a lot of ifs ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here is a league table that consists of data which looks at what teams would be good to invest in for differentials, if they kept a clean sheet, and what teams you'd want to concede if you don't have any goalkeepers or defenders from that team.

I have worked out the average ownership percentage (AO) by adding the highest owned goalkeeper and the four highest owned defenders, as most teams play with 4 at the back, and some players are listed as 0% ownership which would change the average ownership drastically, and these players usually won't play.

It also includes how many clean sheets (CS) they have kept so far and how many goals they have conceded overall (GC) in just the Premier League and the highest owned goalkeeper or defender.

(Please note that some players I've included might not be the number one choice in that spot, for example Given has a higher ownership than Guzan.)

    1st Everton - AO 16.26% - CS 3 - GC 4
Highest Owned - Coleman (DEF) 29.6%

    2nd Liverpool - AO 15.1% - CS 3 - GC 4
Highest Owned - Mignolet (GK) 42.8%

    3rd Chelsea - AO 13.16% - CS 3 - GC 3
Highest Owned - Ivanovic (DEF) 31%

    4th Man City - AO 10.86% - CS 3 - GC 7
Highest Owned - Zabaleta (DEF) 32.9%

    5th Southampton - AO 9.76% - CS 4 - GC 2
Highest Owned - Boruc (GK) 14.2%

    6th Man United - AO 7.9% - CS 2 - GC 8
Highest Owned - De Gea (GK) 11.4%

    7th Tottenham - AO 7.82% - CS 4 - GC 2
Highest Owned - Walker (DEF) 13.3%

    8th Norwich - AO 6.98% - CS 2 - GC 6
Highest Owned - Whittaker (DEF) 20.8%

    9th Arsenal - AO 6.08% - CS 1 - GC 7
Highest Owned - Mertesacker (DEF) 15.7%

    10th Stoke - AO 5.44% - CS 2 - GC 6
Highest Owned - Shawcross (DEF) 11.9%

    11th Aston Villa - AO 5.08% - CS 1 - GC 8
Highest Owned - Baker (DEF) 11.3%

    12th Swansea - AO 4.18% - CS 2 - GC 9
Highest Owned - Williams (DEF) 8.7%

    13th West Ham - AO 3.74% - CS 3 - GC 5
Highest Owned - Collins (DEF) 6.5%

    14th Hull - AO 2.6% - CS 2 - GC 7
Highest Owned - McGregor (GK) 6.6%

    15th Cardiff - AO 2.24% - CS 1 - GC 7
Highest Owned - Lewis (GK) 3.2%

    16th Newcastle - AO 2.14% - CS 2 - GC 8
Highest Owned - Coloccini (DEF) 4%

    17th Fulham - AO 2.12% - CS 1 - GC 9
Highest Owned - Hangeland (DEF) 3.9%

    18th Crystal Palace - AO 1.9% - CS 0 - GC 10
Highest Owned - Gabbidon (DEF) 5.2%

    19th Sunderland - AO 1.46% - CS 0 - GC 14
    Highest Owned - O'Shea (DEF) 3.6%

    20th West Brom - AO 1.28% - CS 2 - GC 5

Feel I need some Liverpool in here... Soldado --> Suarez/Sturridge

    Mignolet / Boruc
    Shaw / Koscielny / Chester / Turner / Collins
    Özil / Ben Arfa / Mirallas / Brady / Kim Bo-Kyung
    Rooney / Giroud / Soldado

1 FT, £3.3m in the bank.

This seems to be the year of the knee jerk. Meaning that a lot of players who have scored well one week and, therefore been a bandwagon among the semi-casuals, has gone onto carry on scoring well the week after and sometimes beyond. And a lot of these are players who many on here have "scoffed at" thinking that it won't last.

Examples off the top of my head...

    Ramsey
    Yaya
    Siggy
    HBA
    Brady
    Paulinho

    Weird.

    P. Hernandez last season was a standout player. I've held him through three blanks now and don't really know the situation with his injury. Great run coming up, but unless I hear he's fit, he's off.

I may lose 0.1 on him by waiting until after midweek stuff, but that's fine. Don't want to be transferring a different injured player.

Transfer for Barkley? Shelvey, or another Swansea mid? I have Ozil and Giroud and I really don't think Ramsey's run's going to continue.

    Thanks.

Terry didn't log as many minutes last year

people bought ivanovic at the start of season for DGW based on the fact that he was highest scoring defender on chelsea last year; and many still have him

Terry was also though to be old, and a bit past it, but apparently is in far better shape than Messr. Ferdinand
