The ScoutCast – Episode 122 – Animal

Granville and I have tackled some hard-hitting issues on the ScoutCast but it was perhaps inevitable that, on handing the opportunity for you, the community, to provide queries, things would ratchet up a few notches and have us chew over the subjects that matter most.

Listen in to this week’s episode and find out how the pair of us answered the first round of questions from you folks – including a humdinger that stretched our limited mental capabilities to breaking point.

Minds blown, we still managed to take on the ScoutCast regulars, rinsing through the bandwagons in all aboard, whilst previewing the forthcoming midweek Gameweek with both our Wildcard’s active. Elsewhere, Granville puts another phantom Lukaku assist under the grill, while I ponder the merits of achieving an unlikely differential using Sergio Aguero and the armband. No really, I’m 12% sure it’s going to work.

By the way, watch out for Jonty’s Hot Topic next week for your chance to fire us a question that’s certain to derail the next episode.

For now, though, slip the leash and listen in via this link or go wild via the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Lads,

Anyone know if Parr is a starter for the next few games? Have same question regarding Chambers, or will Clyne be back in the 11?

Any news on the potential Cabaye transfer?

Apparently Cabaye deal accepted only if Newcastle can sign Remy Cabella and their bid has been rejected for him. So it looks like Cabaye will stay until Summer.

any suggestion to improve my team is appreciated:

    chesney
    gabbidon, coleman, clyne
    hazard, santi, silva, ki
    aguero, suarez, lukaku

subs: steer, whitts, chester, rosenior. 1 FT. all set to do lukaku -> ade, though i'm concern whether clyne n coleman will play or not. whitts will come off the bench, but with chester is injured, not sure if rosenior will starts.

i know that i have to improve my defense, but not sure if it is worth to use FT on a defender that somehow i'm going to put on the bench. thanx for the suggestion. there are still a long way to go before the next gw, perhaps will wait for further updates. in the mean time, will pray that clyne and rosenior starts. 😀

I think I'm narrowing it down DZ, how 'bout this?

    Mannone-Adrian
    Coleman-Azpil-Koscielney-Kolorov-Ward
    Hazard-Silva-Ramsey-Cabaye-AJ
    Suarez-Aguero-Adebayor

Obviously a benching headache, but I will probably be downgrading AJ in three weeks to upgrade a defender or Adebayor if he slips.

Exactly why I won't worry about benching him the next three, well Arsenal v. Palace gw25 would be nice but that's about it. I think the Big 4 at the back rotate well. Coleman has tough games ahead, so hopefully benching him doesn't come back to bite me if he scores a goal. It's a gamble for sure, but I like this because Kolorov has similar attacking intent.

I surely like the Defs you got there but i don't like leaving points on the bench. If i have any of the big 4, i'd play them every week - they can score anywhere and their team can get CS anywhere. Kolarov will have a blank in GW28, so you do have a point. I'd say just do it and hope it pays off.

I haven't heard the recent news, but that is horrible. I am an avid skier, when I get the chance anymore, and the whole scenario is unfortunate. I can say that it is a very dangerous hobby/sport, especially in the big mountains. More than enough people get injured on the slopes every day at the major resorts. In situations like this with Schumacher, it seems as if the perfect recipe for disaster happened. I struggle to believe that he could have been going slow, as was reported. Seems like speed should've been a necessary factor in that equation. Just terrible all around.

yeah that's also in my thought. But Ivanovic doesn't seem a player that can keep himself out from injury in recently games. And for 6.0 DEF they need to be not injury prone at least.

Cahill has been performing really good for Chelsea in recently games and did much better than Terry. But the signing of Matic is a sign that Luiz will be back again as a centre back.

As a U.S. chap, I must say that I am dismayed by Altidore's performances this season. When he plays for the National Team, he usually brings much more power and desire. Shame really. He's not doing himself any favors. Maybe it's not that he's not trying.....I'm not sure have that. Haven't seen a ton of Sunderland games. He just should be bringing more to the table.

Rooney lobs a delicious pass from halfway to Januzaj on the touch line, he beats the man with his pace n trickery, cuts back to mata on the edge of the box who then slices the defence in half to put RVP clean through smashing the ball in to the bottom corner 🙂

If Salah had gone to Liverpool:
    - Salah would actually get to play
    - Coutinho would be off the pitch even more which means the ball would spend more time on the pitch than in row Z behind the opposition's goal
    - SAS would have received countless great balls into the box culminating in more goals for them.
    - Chelsea would have had to compensate for the Mata loss elsewhere and perhaps get a striker, a position of which they actually need or just play some of the guys that are just occupying a bench spot
    - Liverpool would return to their early season form and safely make into the 4th spot, finishing 5 points clear of Everton and Spurs
-Chelsea who have either gone out and bought another striker or have finally gotten some sense and played Demba Ba, finally have a forward who knows how to bash in goals and have finished one point ahead of Man City for the top position with Arsenal getting third
    - Suarez would be elated with the fact that he will finally get to play some UCL football and stay and turn down numerous offers from Real Madrid
    - Coutinho would leave and go back to Inter due to his lack of playing time and the number ten jersey would be handed to Sterling/Salah.
    - Suarez after all of his moaning gets injured in his first match of UCL football against Ajax and can never play another game.
    - By this point, the transfer window has closed and liverpool have no way of immediately replacing Suarez so the begrudgingly play on without him
    - Daniel Sturridge quietly retires out of fear as to how ugly it could be for this Liverpool side without the biter
    - They Lose their first five games and then an exasperated Brendan Rodgers, calls out to Simon Mignolet saying, "Ok lad how are you as a forward?" A nervous Migs responds to Rodgers' inquiry saying that he just isn't suited for the position, Rodgers who was not really paying attention say "Oh ok, well you better get warmed up because you are playing up top today."
    - Mignolet as well as the rest of the league discovers the Belgian's incredible talent as in his first game he bangs in 5 goals against an absolutely stunned Newcastle
    - This is just the beginning however, Mignolet slots home 76 more by January and FIFA makes a rule change declaring that "In all games Liverpool play, if they so choose to play Simon Mignolet in any position other than GK then they are not allowed to play any other players on the pitch alongside him"
    - The very next day the club changes it's mantra to YWWA "You will walk alone"
    - Mignolet scoring persists and he finishes the BPL season with 244 goals and 0 assists
    - In that season he becomes an automatic captain each week in FPL each game week
    - The FPL site crashes in attempt to calculate everyone's GW scores due to Mignolet's alarmingly high scores each week and the fact the he is labeled OOP as a GK so his goals are worth 6 points a piece
    - Liverpool win four trophies that season and the next one and the next one and the next one.........
    - Belgium employ a similar mentality to that of 'pool's and they too play a 0-0-1 formation en route to 3 Euro Cup wins and two World cup wins
    - Mignolet retires at the ages of 53 still in his prime and to due to his overwhelmingly large popularity level the world unites as one dictatorship with Mignolet as their leader and the world is suddenly just one huge game of simon says
    - Migs dies at the young age of 204 (though to be frank, he doesn't look a day over 203) and his final words are "Thank Goodness that Salah lad didn't go to Chelsea"

    Hey gang.

If United get Mata and Cabaye stays at Toon, we have to assume Mata will bring home the bacon, right?

I hate this. I start typing, then about halway through I realise I know what answer I expect - or at least, what I believe - and feel like there's little point even asking the question. Usually that's when I stop typing, but not today. Today you get the entire brain-burp.

    As you were.

Yep. No brainer, really. I end up in one of these every week. My thinking is to hold Ozil until the Cabaye/Mata situations are resolved. Not sure I need much else sorting at this point.

Still, nice to finally meet you, Nice To Finally Michu.

Sounds solid. Depending on your resolve and how much faith you have in Ozil, if he keeps blanking you should consider a straight swap between him and Mata. And the pleasure is all mine, it is in fact nice to finally michu

Yep, that's my thinking. Priority is Mata in (if he moves). Otherwise hold pending news on Cabaye - if Cabaye is still around after the deadline close and Ozil is still missing out on points, I'll be tempted to switch.

Honestly, I've not got all that much faith in Ozil - it's the reason I grabbed Ramsey in the first place earlier in the season. Same with Lallana and Eriksen, funnily enough.

Yikes. A, but I'm not convinced on Lallana. Studge and one of Cabaye/Ramsey, maybe? That's part safe, part danger zone

Is this completely insane or somewhat reasonable?
What if Chelsea bought Radamel Falcao right now, he would be much cheaper and by the time he returns from injury he's already apart of the team. They could stash him away until then and he could train with the team and develop chemistry early on instead of being forced into the squad.

What's the logic to him being cheaper? Just curious.

Also, I think the theory goes that buying players before pre-season is the best time - they get used to tactics and training of their new colleagues from a full pre-season.

      And, match fitness.

I think that Monaco would probably set a lower asking price for him then whatever absurd sum they want for him nowadays. Anyway you're probably right, im just thinking out loud

    Boruc - Mannone
    Baines Azpilicueta Koscielny - 4.1 4.0
Cazorla Mata Oscar Cabaye - Noone
    Suarez Aguero Adebayor

Chasing a leader who has Hazard and Yaya. Is this insane or
    viable?

Looks pretty nice to me, I think you should have one of Haz/Yaya but this could potentially outscore a team with those two
