Favourite FPL Pick This Season
Right, want to provoke a bit of discussion around here because it's quite slow atm.
Who has been your favourite FPL pick this season? Take into account flair, price, ownership levels and returns.
Mine: Cazorla. Got him in for his brace against Fulham when the majority were going for Ozil. Followed up his 2 goals by scoring against SOT the following week.Open Controls-
Cabaye
Suarez
Coleman
HBA (had him for hauls at start, ditched when rest got him in)Open Controls-
Oh and Mannone
Open Controls
-
-
Probably when I picked HBA back at the start of the season for one week and he got me 13pts
Open Controls -
Terry. Started every single game, cheap price.
Ozil was a fail imo. Poor points considering that his PvOpen Controls-
Oh I got Terry too when Chelsea started racking up the CS's. 🙂
Open Controls
-
-
Lallana has been a beast.
AJ for the last 3 weeks has been great.Open Controls -
Has to be Hazard for me. Got him in at 9.1m, when most people were going for Oscar. Started in my team with a goal and an assist against WBA.
Open Controls -
Paulinho..rubbish pick as it turns out..but good to watch when his games are televised, in a throw your shoe at the telly sort of a way.
Open Controls -
-
Eden Hazard.
Got him at 9.1m and got all the points too.Open Controls -
Coleman since GW1
Had Caz for that brace vs Fulham
Really liking Lallana and AJ at the moment
Terry and Yaya since GW3
Basically I've really enjoyed this season so far and haven't made too many mistakesOpen Controls -
Olsson on my Jan WC. Only 4.2m, and 18 points in three weeks so far.
Open Controls-
Love it when those cheap picks turn out to be fantasy gold too. Not had too many of them this season though.
Open Controls
-
Coleman?
Based on original price and ownership
Been a good fpl pick for a few years now, what with being played OOP at one point, but really come into his own this season.
Feel a bit guilty about getting rid as had from the start and thought would be season keeper... damn wildcard. ..Open Controls -
Danny Welbeck during his scoring run (yes he did have one). Puncheon before he had scored a goal (New Years Day)
Open Controls-
There were a few picks I did when few others were doing them near start of season: Lallana , Coleman, then HBA and Haz after that. Puncheon and Speroni have been super for me since got them in recently...
Open Controls
-
-
Lalla.
Open Controls -
I am pretty pleased with getting in Mannone as soon as Boruc was injured, a good few weeks ahead of the wagon. His last few games had been really good but no-one seemed to want to see it.
He hasn't exactly set the world alight, but I am also kind of pleased with Jordan Mutch - I got him at £4.4m and I think he is great value for a bench mid - does v well on Value(season) Saying that, I think ZAHA is looking kind of interesting. Lovely player from what I saw on MotD today.Open Controls -
AJ
Open Controls -
I've had Coleman since week 1 but had him on the bench for his 13 point haul on the opening day. I picked Ramsey in week 3 because I needed a cheap mid to upgrade Benteke to Aguero. Aguero and Ramsey ended up being two of the top 5 players in the game by Xmas and Benteke was sh1t3. David Sulva and Michu have let be down most this year. Also cabaye and Boruc have been great value
Open Controls -
Coleman. He's the only player I've had the entire season, and has returned better offensively and defensively than I would have thought possible. Ironically, he was only in the original team because I liked Everton's fixtures for the first 3 weeks, but he did so well I kept him.
Open Controls -
My fav pick:
triple Southampton defense for their opening fixtures set me up quite nicely or getting Rooney just right, i.e. buying/selling at respective right timesOpen Controls -
Cabaye Coleman Koscielny Suarez Yaya Mannone
Open Controls -
my former minilieague leader had J rod, Sidwell and Ramsey since the start
Open Controls -
Aaron Ramsey. Brought him in on my wildcard in GW5 because he was the right price and had just scored 15 in GW4, and he performed far better than I had any right to expect.
Also Mannone. Replaced Migs as my number one goalkeeper in GW18 on my January Wildcard while many others considered him to be no more than a good rotation option.Open Controls -
Harpo in gwk 10, McGregor got injured & Boruc played Stoke away so i risked and and he got me 8 nice points.
Open Controls
-
First time this season when I'm actually tempted to transfer Yaya in as I have no City cover for their next 3. Silva would be my other option. Is Yaya on pens now?
Open Controls-
On pens for sure
Open Controls

Are Pozuelo and Gnarby the best picks for 4.2
Open Controls -
Think I'll win my Cup h2h this GW, my opponent suddenly went MIA and neglected his squad!

30 min to go for price moves. Anyone else hav a stab at who might be best going forward:thx
1--jRod
2--DzekoOpen Controls-
JRod
Open Controls-
dont u think w/ run of mci good fixtures next 3 dzeko going to explode? hes been in excelent form
Open Controls-
Excellent form?! He converts about one in ten shots on goal!!!
Open Controls -
He may. Also may only play 1 and score none. JRod is safer and will score well
Open Controls-
dzeko 29 pts in 3 gw. thats exceln fom for me. regadless if he takes 20 shots and converts 2.

Q: Which ten Frenchmen have played Premier League football with Manchester City?
A: Nicolas Anelka, Laurent Charvet, Gaël Clichy, Ousmane Dabo, Sylvain Distin, Samir Nasri, Christian Negouai, Antoine Sibierski, David Sommeil and Patrick Vieira
sommeil who was gettable and negouai, who only a proper nerd would know, were the outstanding answersOpen Controls-
I never heard of Negouai and Charvet.
Open Controls-
charvet played in the 1999 fa cup final for newcastle. was also an unused substitute in Chelsea's UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final win over VfB Stuttgart. i don't remember him either tho
Open Controls-
I was quite young back then and Serie A was most watched league over here with quite a few of our players there.

Got injured, not sure how bad.

Woohoo, first-ever hot-topic.
Embarrassing it took this long seeing how often I'm on the site.Open Controls -
Simple one fro yous:
a) Mata and tekkers or
b) Eriksen and Roonpig?Open Controls-
A
Open Controls

For people still with wildcard when would you say is the best time to play it?
Open Controls -
Same question as last night, which I stupidly decided to play safe over...Is Lambert a good pick now ?...
Open Controls-
Would rather JRod.
Open Controls -
Think so with no Osvaldo. Might replace Bony for me
Open Controls -
I was wondering the same last night when I saw he was fit and Osvaldo had gone but had my mind set on Carroll...
Proven FPL player, cheapish and has good fixtures, he seems a decent option to me. Only issue is you may not want double Saints attack and may prefer Lallana.Open Controls
-
-
6000 people have brought in John Ruddy today??? Next 3 fixtures MCI whu TOT
Open Controls-
Saw that. That is difficult to fathom.
Open Controls -
Probably casuals looking at form and ignoring fixtures.
Thing is, I'm actually considering him next week. I need a 'keeper who can rotate with Mannone and will have a fixture in GW28. Ruddy's my prime target ATM.Open Controls -
Long term. Keep on bench till WK 28,29. Norwich have good games when some teams have blanks. Like Mannone, so forward planning by them.
Open Controls

is Januzaj going to play v.s Fulham ??
Open Controls-
How can we know this?
I think he won't start.Open Controls

Save transfer? 0.9 ITB.
Mannone
Cahill - Coleman - Merte
Mirallas - Hazard - Mata - Lallana
Sturridge - Suarez - Rooney
Subs: Boruc, Noone, Gabbi, BruceOpen Controls -
Seriously why couldn't Turnbull just fast track the fibre NBN, my new connection here is is f abysmal.

Anybody regretting the Rooney pick ?..Wondering who to get for the upcoming Fulham game.
Open Controls-
Regretting it a bit, but i certainly won't be changing him before Fulham, if that's what you're suggesting.
If you don't have him, i think Mata is a better buy.Open Controls -
Rvp
Open Controls
-
-
Luke Shaw or Fonte?
With Shaw I can upgrade my secondary goalie to Mannone next week if I want.Open Controls -
Should I do Silva -> Yaya?
I really think he'll continue to outscore him by a nice bit until the end of the seasonOpen Controls-
He probably will, but I wouldn't do the trade.

In response to Captain Shirokov's post about your best fantasy picks this season...
I had a look at my transfer page to see if there was anyone had slipped my mind.
What I found was a good few REALLY BAD picks.
So what were your worst picks this season. Punts that sank. Bandwagons that crashed. Genius moves that stalled?
My worst were probably, in no particular order:-
1. Ricky van Wolfswinkel GW1 - a punt on the name - had scored great in ch;ship. FPL fail. Kept him till GW7!!!
2. Fellaini - i have no excuse for that. Blind hope. (GW4-6)
3. Amalfitano (GW9-16) i don;t want to think about it.
4. Moxey (GW14-21) bought just before he got injured.Open Controls-
I like this.
My worst overall is probably GJ.
Worst recently - Bardsley. Played him for ones and zero last week, benched this week.
Also went for Fellers in GW 4.
Michu was terrible pick for my early WC.Open Controls-
My worst move ever was Ramsey -> Moses. Did it on WC, I went for ramsey because of price rise and cashed in on 0.1 to get Victor. Idiot.
Open Controls-
-
Right. I should actually be quite satisfied with my rank, considering some of my moves.
Open Controls
-
-
-
GJ was a disaster for me too. Theo turned my season around, got arguero before anyone in my ml too so happy with that.. Biggest regret is prob not jumping on yaya (and won't)
Open Controls
-

amalf looked great when I got him in - had a couple of big scores. Then nothing (I think he got moved back into a defensive role or something?)
he stank me up for ages and i am always loudly against whenever i heard someone asking about getting him in on here [not that he has been mentioned much recently)
glad to know you shared my pain.
😉Open Controls
-
-
-
-
Oh, and Bruce. Only got him 2 GWs ago.He conceded against Palace and then promptly got dropped.
Open Controls-
I hate it when that happens.
Its the moves where you think "yeah this is going to be great no-one else has seen this I am so clever" and they do sod all.Open Controls
-
-
Ouch.

What the hell happened with Fellaini?
I mean the man was playing out of his skin at Everton for a while last season, then Moyes pulls him back from attack and he does nowt.
Now at MUN he cant even get a game. I worry Moyes is a bit clueless. How hard is it to look at when Fella was banging them in and put him back doing the same thing? I am probably oversimplifying it, but really - the man was amazing for a good while last season.Open Controls

hah, I bought Nani for his brief bandwagon (hangs my head in shame)

Anyone here watching UFC 169?
Open Controls-
Just changed over.
Open Controls

Just realised I've claimed from 112,000 to 16,000 in 7 game weeks, largely thanks to theo and a good wildcard, closed the gap on ml leader from 150 to 60 points (he was top 60 in the world a while back) after a frustrating start I'm beginning to like this game again 🙂
Open Controls-
You should link your team properly as the current linked team is performing a little worse than that
Open Controls-
Well done on the rise in ranks btw, over that time I have stagnated at about 15k whilst fellows like yourself haul me down

Do you ever watch 80s or 90s films and wonder why they are using a pay phone.
Open Controls -
Baines owners.. You keeping or selling?
I reckon I'm going to downgrade him and upgrade Bony. Mirallas has removed much of his attacking potential.Open Controls-
Keeping. I just got him. The disastrous part of my -8 hit this week.
Open Controls-
Sturridge and Azpil look like a good swop to me, see what happens tomorrow I guess
Open Controls
-
-
Keeping. Baines is still on penalties, corners, and indirect free kicks. Everton have been unlucky with clean sheets. They haven't conceded all that many goals recently.
Open Controls -
Don't have him.. but he's definitely not a player I'd consider getting.
Too much to be had in the way of midfielders and attackers at the moment I think to tie up funds like that especially when Coleman has a goal threat these days.Open Controls

@TM
What's the story with this Elite64 or FPL Open? Have you one starting on GW29?Open Controls-
1st round GW30 for FPL Open and GW32 for Elite 64. Still over a month to enter.

So will Moyes still be at United at the start of next season? They have lost a third of their league games this season, forget about fourth place in my opinion, mid table is more likely.
Is Moyes to blame? I have always said the players are not good enough but they had Rooney, RVP and Mata against Stoke and lost...deflected goals, injured players, bad wind etc at the end of the day you make your own luck, if they were three nil up that wouldnt have mattered would it.
Surely he has to go or will he be a success?Open Controls-
I think he needs to hit top 4 or his place is almost untenable
Open Controls-
I think moyse will turn things around but it's too late for this season, too many teams to fight it out with. I'd expect them to become a lot more solid next year, also if RSVP had missed so much time last season they would have struggled too
Open Controls -
-
-
I am not sure he has the tactical intelligence/flair to do it. He had great reputation because he did ok with Everton and they never spent huge money, but Martinez is doing a lot better with them now.
I like the guy, and hope he can turn it round, but you have to wonder what is missing if he can't win against Stoke with RVP, Roo and Mata up front.Open Controls -
Chelsea lost to stoke away a few gws ago too. Just because your team is man utd doesn't give you any god given right to win every game!

West Ham looks good for the next five.
avl, NOR, SOT, eve, HUL coming up.
Have funds to do Bruce -> Reid, but can't decide due to benching issues.
Playing with Cahill - Merte - Coleman at the back, and would have to bench one of them for Reid.
Good to have options i guess, but would you rather sell one of those for Reid?Open Controls-
Were I to predict I'd only assume there to be a clean sheet vs Norwich and Hull..
Then consider that Norwich made a lot of chances this week and Hull played well vs Spurs.
Decent fixtures but I'd guess at 1.. maybe 2 clean sheets.Open Controls
