Ahead of this evening’s Old Trafford encounter between United and Hull, we take a look at those players who picked up problems over the last few days and are now injury concerns for their next fixture. We also take a quick check at the suspension ins and outs, with a trio of players set to return for their respective sides:

Aaron Ramsey failed to make the Gunners’ home clash against West Brom yesterday afternoon due to a minor thigh injury.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was forced off midway through the first period of Villa’s win over Hull after picking up a knock in the build-up to his side’s opener in the 3-1 victory.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was deprived of trio Gary Medel, Mats Daehli and Kevin Theophile-Catherine due to illness, according to reports in the local press.

Crystal Palace
Cameron Jerome missed the Eagles’ six-goal thriller with Liverpool last night due to illness.

Hugo Rodallega missed the weekend hammering at Stoke due to illness, Felix Magath admitted post-match.

James Chester is ruled out of the Tigers’ trip to Old Trafford this evening after picking up a during Saturday’s defeat at Villa. Sone Aluko is also unavailable after sustaining an ankle injury during training on Friday, with Steve Bruce admitting he is set to ring the changes now that his side are safe from the drop.

Manchester City
In this afternoon’s lunchtime press conference, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that Sergio Aguero has failed to recover from the injury that forced him out of Saturday evening’s win at Goodison, though hasn’t ruled the Argentine out of the Gameweek 38 home clash against West Ham. The City boss allayed any fears over Yaya Toure’s fitness, however, after the midfielder was withdrawn midway through the second-half of the 3-2 win:

“Sergio Aguero couldn’t recover 100% from his groin problem so he is not in this squad list. Maybe he has a chance to be fit for Sunday. We will see in the week. I was not 100% sure if he was fit for tomorrow – that’s why he is not in the squad…Yaya did not have any problems in the last game. I just made the change because he was just coming back from his injury and he was not able to play 90 minutes.”

Man United
Ryan Giggs has conceded Wayne Rooney is struggling to make United’s home encounter with Hull this evening and will continue to be monitored. Rafael may play a part in the Red Devils’ final two matches after a recent injury, though Jonny Evans is unlikely to play again this term.

Reports in the local press indicate Chico Flores missed the home encounter with Southampton due to a minor toe problem.

West Brom
The Baggies forward Thievy was sidelined for yesterday’s match due to a groin problem. Billy Jones missed out as a precaution due to an ongoing hamstring issue.

Two players sit on the sidelines due to bans this week. Tottenham’s Younes Kaboul will miss next Sunday’s home encounter with Villa after being sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity during the weekend loss at West Ham. The centre-half will serve a one-match suspension, whilst Chelsea’s Ramires sits out the third of a four-match ban away to relegated Cardiff this weekend.

In terms of those returning from bans, Jordan Henderson, Juan Cala and Ryan Shawcross are all available for selection once again this weekend.

  3. I remember the day Alex Ferguson once selected an unknown youth player for a league game totally out of the blue.

    He was called Luke Chadwick.

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. Wrong.

Chadwick played in the league cup first.

      Poor football knowledge.

      • 8 months, 26 days ago

  5. United CS with a goal from Phil Jones would be simply awesome!

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. Points for my players please.

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
  6. The team selection is fine in that they have nothing to play for and giving youngsters a chance,
But people have paid a lot to see watch the top players on show and to me it's a cowardly selection if they get beat it's because of the youngsters and no blame on Giggs.
Now bang me a hatrick Kagawa

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. Kagawa is my silver-lining too :)

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
  7. While I am slightly disappointed that none of my Man Utd players are playing tonight, I cannot complain as I knew fine well that each of them were at risk.

    Rooney (injury)
Mata (did not start first game under Giggs)
Evra (Giggs said everyone would get a chance)

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
  8. Giggs instead of mata would be interesting

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
  9. Valencia's not a good rb to the guys last page.

    • 8 months, 26 days ago

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
  12. guess the 3 subs coming up in order

    1) rvp (65min)
    2) vidic (75min)
    3) giggs (75min)

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. Amos and Keane need to play as well

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
  13. Surely Mata is going to get zero minutes? RvP will come on for on for Wilson and the other 2 subs are nailed on to be Giggs and Vidic?

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. Yep I think you are right with this

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
    2. You forgot Amos and Keane

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
    3. Yeah probably.

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
  14. I think this has been my worst ever week of fantasy footy.

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. Did you also buy Ferdinand, Rooney and Mata for a 12 point hit? :)

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
  15. Anyone watching Fiorentina vs Sassuolo?

    Best league in the world

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
  16. Got Azpi and Rooney not playing which means Koscileny (7pts) and Livermore coming on. Seeing as Evra isn't playing I hope Livermore gets a hat trick against us. (Mata to come off the bench to score though and Utd win)

    Could happen, right?

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. Livermore is on the bench too buddy

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
  17. Lost at bottom of last page -

Does anyone one else think that other than man city and pool players (and maybe Sunderland depending on the result tomorrow), it may be pot luck as to who will play the last game due to nothing to play for?

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
  18. Does United really have nothing to play for? They could still clinch 6th place if they win their last 2 and Spurs lose on Sunday...
How about Europa League? Which teams will qualify?

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. They're ensuring that they don't qualify. A Utd fan told me this weekend that he'd heard that they were definitely not keen on the Europa.

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
      1. What the hell? Europa not good enough compared to UCL?? United does have more chances to win Europa and they will earn revenues with TV coverage and so on...

        • 8 months, 26 days ago
    2. We don't want Europa...Not enough players to play in multiple tournaments. Next year's EPL and getting back in UCL is the priority

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
      1. Ridiculous, United fans are a bunch of arrogant peeps. You know that not playing in any European tournaments means less revenues during the season.

        • 8 months, 26 days ago
        1. Nothing arrogant

revenue loss will be more if we perform bad in PL & a non top 4 finish

          • 8 months, 26 days ago
      2. A.

If you win Europa you get a place in the CL from next season

        • 8 months, 26 days ago
  19. Looks like those who captained Dzeko are the big winners so far this DGW

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
    1. Weimann or Arnautovic

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
  20. United starting well.

    • 8 months, 26 days ago
  21. and that was a pen

    • 8 months, 26 days ago

    • 8 months, 26 days ago

      • 8 months, 26 days ago
  23. Out of the mouths of babes ...

    • 8 months, 26 days ago

“Last year was quite open for me, I was in good positions, but I was quite lucky because I was getting free kicks and some penalties as well.”
