After Germany’s win over Argentina brought the 2014 World Cup to its conclusion last night, we take a final look at the standings in the FantasyiTeam game. Matchday 7 consisted of Saturday’s third/fourth place play-off in addition to Sunday’s Final and, in a closely-contested last evening of action, just six points separated the top five players in the Fantasy Football Scout league:

A free-to-play Fantasy football app, FiT is available on a number of mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPodTouch and Android. We supported FiT throughout the summer and with a £500 Amazon voucher available to the winner of the official Fantasy Football Scout League, there was everything to play for over the weekend’s action.

Fantasy Football Scout League

Stefano Von Meedows climbed back to the top of the Scout League in a dramatic final night of action. He used his trio of free trades to draft in three of the Germany back-four and also took up the option to purchase a fourth (which costs 100 FiT Credits) to acquire another member of Joachim Low’s starting defenders. With Manuel Neuer already in place between the sticks, Stefano’s decision to go all-out on the winners’ backline delivered five clean sheets in Sunday’s match and with Robin Van Persie amongst the goals in Holland’s win over Brazil, he reclaimed his spot at the Scout League summit on 530 points.

Also on 530 points is King Jon, who went into the weekend’s action with a 22-point advantage over any of his rivals. His decision to opt for only one Germany defender for the Final against Argentina proved costly, though, as his faith in the South Americans was undone by Mario Gotze’s late winner. Having scored less goals than Stefano over the tournament, King Jon finished second in the Scout League.

Just four points further behind is Juan Garcia. Like Stefano, he drafted in Germany’s back-four and keeper for the Final but with ground to make up, his decision to hand Phillip Lahm the armband was an inspired one. With Arjen Robben serving up an assist in Holland’s 3-0 triumph over Brazil, Juan managed a very respectable 526 points overall.

Paul Fitzgerald was a non-mover in fourth spot. He also chose to captain Lahm for Matchday 7 but his decision to opt for three Argentines and three Germans at the back was ultimately ruined by Gotze’s winner and meant Paul finished on 525 points, just five off the top of the Scout League leaderboard.

Lewis Nicklen completes the top five on 524 points. After his side chalked up four Holland clean sheets and a Van Persie goal in Saturday’s match, Lewis looked perfectly placed to take advantage but, despite having goalscorer Gotze on board for the Final, his decision to hand Lionel Messi the armband proved costly to his hopes of clinching top spot.

For those looking to play FiT over the upcoming domestic season, the player prices are now live in-app, allowing you to tinker with your squads ahead of the big kick-off on Saturday August 16.

Might be a bit more value, although the two main attacking options Mata (due to last season's form when he went there) and RVP (due to Suarez leaving) will be expensive.

Interestingly, in that game, players can get a "part clean sheet" if they are on for part of the game (even a short sub appearance) without conceding. 2 points instead of the full 4.

If Kolarov doesn't start, does he normally come on?

          There's a fairly common occurrence regarding Clichy/Kolarov...

Clichy tends to play more in the tougher games, particularly the away games.
Kolarov mostly plays the easier games, particularly the home games.

And yes, he does get subbed on a lot. For a couple of minutes.

I'm generally happy to be among the top 20k. Last season was nothing less then abysmal. Everything was lost in january/february, and after that I tried to gamble my way back in to the money in my mini league. Finished at 851k.

This was my team for GW1

Foster - Collins, Ivanovic, Toure, Turner - Hazard, Walcott, Silva - Sturridge, Lukaku, Soldado.

I was quite happy with Soldado, to choose Silva over other MCI attacking options (then came Yaya) and to choose Sturridge over any other decent priced strikers.

Generally, i'm not a good starter. I tend to be wary of last seasons big scorers, and feel an urge to take some punts. I've never found the right balance between "safe" players (or even detecting who's actually safe) and the more punty choices.

Definitely need to do some good thinking ahead of this seasons GW1.

Yahoo Fantasy Golf and theres one on PGA Tour.com but Yahoo is best.been doing that for about 5 years. Season runs along with the American Tour and includes all the majors so runs from Jan-Sept.
Pick 8 players every tournament. 10 picks per player so when You have used all your Mickleson picks then you cant pick him again.

LvG won't let a player of Rooney's calibre go. I think he'll play up front with RVP, either in a 433 or 3412(dutch)

I'm personally going with RVP and Sanchez, but I'm probably gonna leave Sturridge out for the first 3 weeks. I don't think Liverpool's first 3 fixtures (SOU, mci, tot) are very tasty, and it's also a good time to decide whether or not to buy Sturridge in the upcoming weeks.

Ha ha ha - this brilliant. No one expects Liverpool to do well, just like last season, and look what happened. Absolutely no chance that they can finish in the top 4 with far more quality players minus Suarez.

So basically it was Suarez who finished 2nd. Right.

Regarding the 750 million United deal with Adidas, something in these numbers doesn't add up...

Liverpool's Warrior deal is £25m per annum if I remember correctly, over 6 years - total £150m. At the time the deal was struck it was considered to be huge, and was rated by most as very good work by the commercial team at LFC.

At the time of the deal, there was a news story with some spin from Ian Ayre, saying how Liverpool "stand to make £300m" from the deal - due to increased earning possibilities for the club arising out of new terms.

Basically, Ayre was saying that if the club's total income from clothing and similar merchandise amounted to 100%, then "football kit" was 50% of the total value and the remainder came from LFC-branded "other clothing" like t-shirts, jackets, hats and whatever.

Adidas had previously owned the rights to sell ALL LFC branded clothing as part of their deal. So, Liverpool were dependent on them doing a good job with the "other clothing" aspect of it.

Now, under the terms of the new deal, Warrior were paying a higher amount than Adidas had, but were only receiving the rights to merchandise "football kit" (including training gear). Liverpool FC themselves retained the rights to sell other LFC-branded clothing. If they do their job properly, you would imagine that they could earn higher profit on each item of "other" clothing now since they wouldn't have to let Adidas take a cut.

Ayre was saying that, assuming they get their act together, they could expect to earn another £150m from the club's direct sales of other clothing.

The newspaper then ran with a headline "Liverpool stand to make £300m from new Warrior deal" or something like that. However, if you read the quotes it is clear that only half of that amount is actually coming from Warrior, with the club having the opportunity to earn the other half itself based on Ayre's projections for clothing sales.

Now, reading the headlines and stories that have come out so far about United, it LOOKS like their £750/10yrs or £75m per season is all coming directly from Adidas. Assuming that is accurate, you would have to consider that they most likely have sold the rights to ALL club-branded clothing as well (similar to LFC's old terms with Adidas).

If you assume that the split of "kit" vs. "other" clothing at United is the same as at Liverpool - i.e. 50-50 - then you could say that the comparable value of United's new Adidas deal is more like £37.5m per season (i.e. 50% of £75m).

Still a great contract for them, and better than LFC's, but it doesn't quite dwarf other deals in the way that the headline figures make it look.

This above is a lot of guesswork on my part, perhaps some other member with inside knowledge could comment on whether it's accurate?

The source for the detail on LFC's own contract is this old news story from the Guardian:

  24. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?
    • 12 Years
    11 years, 4 months ago

So, didn't know where else to post this

Essentially, I'm going to be playing in a draft style fantasy league with 9 other friends (so 10 teams total). The basic rule structure is the same as the fantasy.premierleague.com fantasy apart from:

    - no "bonus points". though multiple goals/assists in a game get a bonus point.
    - 1 pt for 4 interceptions for defenders / 3 interceptions for all others.
    - 1 pt for 4 tackles for defenders / 3 tackles for all others.
    - 5 pts instead of 4 for clean sheets only for goalkeepers
    - 1 pt for 2 blocked shots (happens very rarely, 5-6 points extra for defenders overall)

Essentially, it gives defensive mids a way to earn points, makes good defenders better picks and increases the returns of box to box mids like Yaya Toure or Aaron Ramsey.

I say all this because, I have pick #2 in the draft. So I'll get pick #2 in the draft followed by #19 and #22 pick. Suggestions for who I should get for my first pick? Wanted Ramsey pretty badly but I was debating on avoiding him hoping he might still be available when my next turn comes

Also, any under the radar guys I should hope to pick up later? Was thinking of saving Theo as a late pick (since he would be injured for the first couple of months and isn't likely to get picked). Any advice / thoughts would be appreciated.

Could paste the point totals according to the rules for some of the top players if that helps.
