The Fantasy Football Scout Leagues Round-Up

The current lull in domestic matters affords us time to pause and assess the Scout leagues in a variety of Fantasy games. With leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League, Sky Sports and the Fantasy iTeam (FiT) Champions League game, there is much for us to analyse:

Fantasy Premier League

Milan Mihajlovic sits atop the Scout League with a total of 462 points after the first seven Gameweeks. Having already played his wildcard, he’s opted for big-hitters Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero up front along with Romelu Lukaku, whilst in midfield, the likes of Angel di Maria, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Raheem Sterling have been crucial to his ascent up the rankings. Intriguingly, Milan – who is second overall – has only one defender priced at 5.0 or over, Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand.

Maciek takes second spot after a Gameweek 7 score of 64 points. He’s tripled up on Chelsea trio Branislav Ivanovic, Cesc Fabregas and Costa and also has the likes of Di Maria, Sterling and Sigurdsson in the centre of the park. Up top, though, he’s opted for Radamel Falcao and Danny Welbeck on his way to 455 points, or 14th overall.

In third position is Stephen Hourie, who has also racked up 455 points so far. His inspired decision to captain Di Maria earned him 70 points in Gameweek 7, whilst the likes of Costa, Sterling, Sigurdsson and Fabregas all chipped in with returns. Intriguingly, he’s opted for Welbeck and Leonardo Ulloa up top, allowing him to acquire big-hitters Ivanovic and Leighton Baines at the back.

Fourth-placed Craig Ellis is a new entry to the Scout League. He also has a number of the usual suspects – Costa, Di Maria, Sigurdsson, Fabregas and Sterling – though placed his faith in a couple of differentials last week, with James Tomkins and Jamie Vardy both helping him up to 24th overall, on 451 points.

Peter Chesley completes the top five on 450 points. After a slight fall last weekend, he’ll be hoping Southampton trio Ryan Bertrand, Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle can take advantage of the upcoming five fixtures and fire him back up the leaderboard.

Thanks to our top five, we have retained our spot at the top of the League of Leagues, as we look to retain our crown once again. To join up, the code is 11856-4526.

Peter Chesley also impresses in our Members league and leads the way, whilst Marc Wilcox is second on 439 points and Charles Garnier third on 438 points.

Ultimate Fantasy Premier League

Joe Connolly is the new leader of the UFPL Scout League. He racked up 94 points last time around and moves onto 570 points for the season, enough to earn him fifth spot in the overall standings. Lee C drops into second on 565 points, or 12th overall, whilst Lee Fricker climbs into third on 564 points, enough to take 16th spot thus far. To join our UFPL league, the code is 524-87.

Sky Sports Fantasy Football

Stephen Lambert is the current Scout league leader, after racking up 537 points in the first few Gameweeks. Stephen sits 17th in the overall standings and is just three points ahead of Ashley Rastrick, who is second in our league, and 21st overall, with third placed Jack McKenna sitting on 533 points, earning him 22nd spot in the overall standings so far. The winner of our Sky league, which is also top in the league of leagues, wins £1,000. To join up, the league name is FFScout and the code is 8009000.

Champions League

Our official Champions League game this season is the Fantasy iTeam (FiT) offering – a free, reliable and easy-to-use Fantasy football app. After two rounds of Matchdays, Matt Parsons heads the Scout Legaue with 162 points, though he’s closely followed by Daniel Lord (160 points) and Waleed Cherif on 159 points. There’s an iPad mini on offer to the winner – the league name is Fantasy Football Scout and the pin is 11155.

We’ve set up another league for those brave souls willing to place their faith in the official Champions League game. There’s just three points separating our top three in this competition – rahmanok leads the way on 142 points, closely followed by gkalaf and Pavlle on 141 and 140 points respectively.

Hello everyone. Have been brooding about this for a bit now.
Who according to you will score more points in the coming 5 game weeks.
    A) Pelle
    B) Welbeck

Very tight. Honestly think there won't be much in it but Welbeck, just, and only because he is in an Arsenal side.

I think your right. It's gonna be very tight between them. I have Pelle right now in my team was thinking of gettin in welbz instead and fab to Tadic in mid for s'hampton coverage

This season turning out to be bit boring in terms of team management, the cheap mids and strikers keeping pace with the big hitters means can afford an attacking defence, baines and ivan fixture proof so really have no decisions to make regarding bench, only got one playing keeper too.
    Anyone else in this position?

    Hi

Can I have dome thoughts on these predicaments please? I have 2.9 ITB.

    Krul

    Terry. Clyne Duff (Chester Hutton)

    Sig Chad Fab Sterling (Boyd)

    Kun Costa Pelle

    A) Should I be looking to bring in one of ADM and Sanchez? If so do I ditch fab or upgrade Sig by doing Terry to Gibbs

    B) Bring Baines in. If so, do I upgrade Duff or get rid of Terry.

    C) get rid of the festering wound that is Krul.

The most boring move is often the correct one... ADM is absolutely slaughtering me in my ML and I feel I need to match him our counter him with an explosive differential.

Do not want to puzzle u further but I'm in a similar dilemma.
I want to get in Baines.
      I want arsenal coverage.
Is fab and ADM really required in the team ? Hmmm
If not ? Den is Sanchez gonna do better in the next 5game weeks ?
So many questions ? Fpl driving me crazy !! Lmfao

I am beginning to think Sanchez may be the better option, assuming Wenger starts to play him. ADM would be a defensive move for me as the majority of my ML league have him and it is killing me. As you point out though, Arsenal's fixtures are much better than United's over the coming weeks.

Ditching him is a lol bad move imo. I saw someone earlier saying he has zero goal threat. Well sure, deployed in the double pivot, it doesn't seem great, but in the hole and everything changes. Also, he can pretty much assist from any position, is on most corners, some fk's. Oh, did I mention he's unbelievably talented, comfortably the best mf in the league (imo of course). Rant over 🙂

Very true. I've got to say though I was baffled by Barcelona's decision to sell Cesc. I can't think of any player on the planet more suitable to fill the substantial void that is going to be left when Xavi retires. Strange.

To some extent he clearly wanted to go as well. He spoke very interestingly recently about having a strong hunger to win things with Chelsea. There's also the Mourinhio factor to consider. A lot of the top players who've worked under him speak glowingly of his influence on them as players.

Again I find that strange too though. Leave your boyhood/hometown club which is steeped in history, playing with arguably the greatest ever player to go to Mercenary FC who happen to to also be big rivals to your other boyhood club. Just one big all round????

                      Fair play to Chelsea though

    Danny Welbeck injury update

The incident occurred as Danny Welbeck burst on to a through ball from Oxlade-Chamberlain. The defender makes a clean tackle but appears to clip Welbeck’s ankle in the process. The challenge appeared innocuous enough, as the impact was only slight and unlikely to have caused any injury. He then immediately lands awkwardly and in all likelihood inverts and ‘rolls’ his ankle, stressing the ligaments to the outside of the joint. I have to make inferences here as the camera view covered half the pitch and there was no close up replay, so I couldn’t get a clear view on the mechanism of the injury.

Welbeck stays down on ‘all fours’ momentarily then gets to his feet and helps to defend a corner. He plays on for about a minute before being substituted, enough time to observe him moving fairly fluidly, without noticeable impediments or deficits. Indeed, he can be witnessed accelerating and decelerating, at speed, whilst turning. In other words, performing final stage movement tests a physio would observe to feel relatively comfortable allowing a player to continue.

The Arsenal forward leaves the field fully weight bearing with equal weight distribution on both sides. He exhibits a ‘tired’ gait, but not an antalgic one, that would suggest an injury. Rather, a walk implying a player that’s taken a few knocks and strained a few sinews at the end of a hard shift.

In summary, if the injury had come from the initial tackle, then the worse- case scenario, if he was extremely unlucky, would be a spot or an avulsion fracture. If this were true then Welbeck would have struggled to take even four steps post injury. The most likely scenario is a slight stretch to his ankle ligaments without any tears. Arsene Wenger should shine more light on the situation this week and it is here we make any inferences. If Wenger suggests that he is in contention or faces a late fitness test, we can be pretty sure that he will be fit to start, as if he had had suffered any grade of acute injury to the lateral ankle ligaments, he would have no chance of playing at the weekend. With admittedly only limited information to go on, I’d suggest that no significant damage has been done and the physios have enough time to manage the situation to get him fit for the weekend.

It's odd, sometimes players turn up the next day with a knock that rules them out for a month, with no apparent incident in the game. Not saying this applies to Danny Wesley Snipes Welbeck, just observing generally.

      Good info.

Thou I will say at times adrenalin gets you through and only in the days after can the knocks and injuries be felt.

      1. facer
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 6 months ago

Yep, its always difficult without being able to perform an assessment and your right to suggest that adrenaline can mask pain, but it wouldn't mask a lack of joint stability caused by a ligament or tendon injury or a muscular injury of any significance. He would also almost certainly not pass the final stage on-field assessment with any significant soft-tissue injury.

Post match, if he was assessed by a physio and he was carrying even a slight acute injury, then at least one of the 5 cardinal signs of inflammation would be present, so it is unlikely an injury would be missed if you were looking for one.

If were talking about the severity of an injury, then yes, it is only after a certain amount of swelling has subsided that more thorough investigations can take place to give a more definitive diagnosis

Suarez is the best out and out striker in the world. End of. Messi and Ronaldo occupy a hybrid AM/CF/ST type role.

whether they would or not it only strengthens the argument that suarez isnt on the same level.. both messi and ronaldo eat and shit his goal scoring exploits and they according to u arent even strikers

Why not? They are both single handedly smashing every goalscoring record going. Because they don't fit the stereotypical out and out striker image does not mean they aren't. The sheer volume of goals mean they are exactly that. But their ability is so good that they are everywhere creating and scoring. I don't see Suarez position as any different either to be honest.

That's not a valid point? Was Lampard or Yaya strikers when they knocked in 20+ goals in a season? Neither Messi or Ronaldo is a striker.

messi and ronaldo are head and shoulders above anything else out there at the moment and have been for the last 6 years or so. the fact that the ballon d or hasnt been one by anyone else in that period tells u quite a few people share that opinion

It helps that they are in teams that won all before them. It also helps that they both have squeaky clean images and are good marketing 'vessels'.

you just have to watch play to see it.

ronaldo and messi are banging in 50 60 70 goals a season and have been for years. discounting his stint in holland suarez has topped 30 goals twice in his career to date..

When both at their best, Yaya is some way better than Di Maria. Yaya is unplayable at his best. It's actually physicalky not possible to do anything within the rules of the game to stop him. He won't beat a player on the outside like DM, rather he'll plot a direct course through that player, seemingly at 75% of his top speed also.

I've always admired him and he could well be the best player in the league. As said above, I think Aguero, Silva and Yaya (if he regains some form) would all be up there too.
There's no doubt all the real talent is now in the Spanish league, which is a shame.

Last season, I seemed to have 3 or 4 flags to deal with so often. Sympathies mate 🙁
There is nothing worse as you can't go ahead with any plans that you have spent time coming up with.
I've only had a Giroud injury early on and the Rooney/Ramsey double blow in one GW to deal with so far.
3 injuries in 7 GWs is like a minor miracle in this game.... So much comes down to luck.

Hopefully you can play a second GK ahead of Krul. Hazard and Welbeck should be okay too, good luck!

Just checked it there on Wikipedia. '[Suarez] ...is generally considered to be one of the top strikers in the world.'

                      Check and mate.

whoever denied that suarez is one of the worlds best players is seriously mistaken..

however he isnt fit to lace ronaldo or messi's boots

he's a great player one of the worlds best but not on the same level as ronaldo or messi it isnt even debatable..

when suarez starts dominating the worlds best teams in the premier competitons taking home league titles champions league winners medals and posing with ballon d ors il reconsider my position on this

Your pick for 5.4-5.6? Already have Bertrand, so don't want Clyne and PLEASE don't say Dier, I don't want to spit out my beer on the computer.

Maybe a Spurs defender, or just go cheaper with someone with decent fixtures.

Against Man City right off the bat?? Surely not.

Maybe going cheaper is the way to go. There's really nothing worth a crap in that price range between 5.2-5.7

I have Bertrand, Hutton, Caulker, Dummet and Chambers. I'm looking to move Caulker asap. I don't have much desire to waste money on Baines or Ivanovich, so it's kind of tough. I thought about Azpi, but he offers little to no attack.

Bertrand is my most expensive defender so far, did Blackett out early this GW. Quite happy staying cheap and having the big front 7.
Good luck anyway, I'm off to bed 🙂

If you own Moreno, you may as well just stick. No signs CS are incoming for LFC but miracles sometimes happen and the Everton defence looks no better.
Moreno has that added attacking threat too.

I love Arsenal's fixtures, but it's a disaster looking at their defensive choices right now. Actually it looks like xmas lights when you look at their team on FPL!

Depends to some extent on your defense. Forster and Guzan are below 5.5 each and rotate extremely well ... but you may have Villa/Soton defenders, in which case might want to not double up on same team.

Tadic is yet to really produce points, so a bit risky imo ... but getting Baines will probably be worth it.

                            Sterling > Lallana for me.

                            And it's for -4.

                            Some will say I'm crazy.

don't think anyone will rise tonight. Maybe 3 decliners (Zarate, Skrtel, Oshea),

Let's say Coleman is back this week leaving Everton with Baines, Coleman, Jagielka and Hibbert I believe. Still no CS's in their future?? Surely Howard will come around sooner than later with their favorable fixtures coming up.

CS's will start soon. I could see 3 in next 5 games.

Any thought on Rooney replacement (late i know but only had 1 tfer last week).
Can either go Studge(bit risky) or Falcao.
                          Can't afford Aguerro 0.3 short.

Falcao looking like he is getting comfortable latching onto ADM's assists - I'd go with him!

Rodgers has said Sturridge will be ready for QPR. Would be more risky than Falcao, but fixtures favor Sturridge.

Morning all 🙂 In a draft league at the moment. My midfield is:
                          Yaya, ADM, Siggy, Chadli, Eriksen

I want to get in Mane and Walcott who are still available. My gut feeling is to get rid of Yaya and Eriksen (due to double TOT)... but both have potential to score high after recent matches.

Any advice is appreciated as to whether you think I should stick/twist.

Id get rid of Yaya for certain. He's not going to have a great year - too far back. If price doesn't matter, i'd get rid of Chadli ... Eriksen is better quality and over the year he'll get more points imo.

and like Walcott, though a bit risky until he starts playing

True. Definitely risky. I guess the beauty of a draft league is trying to spot the potential before anyone else grabs him. Ah well - thanks for the thoughts mate!

I've literally got exactly the same team as Maciek. Which is unbelievable because he's ranked 14th and I'm ranked 380k. The difference a good start makes :/
