Double Gameweek 37 Confirmed for Arsenal and Sunderland

The Premier League have this afternoon handed Fantasy managers yet another double Gameweek to plan for after rescheduling Arsenal’s home clash with Sunderland. The fixture, which has been moved out of Gameweek 33, has been shifted to Wednesday May 20, meaning both sides will now face a double Gameweek 37.

The Gunners face a testing trip to United on the Saturday prior to welcoming the Black Cats, who entertain Leicester before making their way to the Emirates.

Looking at the schedules around those Gameweeks, then, Arsenal will therefore face three home matches (SWA, mun & SUN, WBA) in the final three rounds of fixtures and given they’ve won each of the last eight in front of their own supporters, look poised for a strong finish to the season.

In the short term, though, this means that once this week’s trip to Newcastle is out of the way, Arsenal face home clashes against Liverpool and Chelsea and also have a blank Gameweek 33 to consider in the subsequent four.

Sunderland’s end to the season is far from straightforward, with today’s news handing them three away matches ( eve, LEI & ars, che) in the final three Gameweeks, with only that home clash against the Foxes as a source of optimism.

The Black Cats now travel to West Ham and have back-to-back home encounters against Newcastle and Palace prior to their Gameweek 33 blank.

Today’s news is something of a disappointment for those Fantasy managers who had held back their wildcards in the hope of a bumper double Gameweek. So far, all the fixtures that required rescheduling due to cup postponements have been allocated new dates – leaving QPR and Villa with a double Gameweek 31, Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 and Arsenal and Sunderland with a double Gameweek 37.

The only twist we can hope for surrounds Liverpool’s progress in the FA Cup. If the Reds win their replay at Blackburn, their Gameweek 33 trip to Hull would need rescheduling. Given that their Ewood Park encounter doesn’t take place until April 8, any possible double Gameweek would take place in Gameweek 34 or 37 – it cannot occur in Gameweek 35 or 36 as Champions League or Europa League fixtures take place in midweek and UEFA regulations stipulate that domestic matches should not run concurrently with European matches. A win for Blackburn, though, would scupper our best-laid plans.

I feel Arsenal's DGW may be greatly diminished with the DGW37 news. With a probable (sorry, Reading fans) cup final the following week we'd better hope the race for the Top 4 is still tight, or I can see a fair few of their players, particularly the popular FPL ones, getting one match only.

Was just reading nufc.com and they are listing the fit outfield Newcastle players as:

R.Taylor, Williamson, Sissoko, Anita, Gouffran, Colback, Perez, Gutierrez, Cabella, Janmaat, Obertan, Ameobi, Riviere.

      Looks like a defence of

      Janmaat Williamson Colback/Anita R.Taylor

Arsenal captain is a definite option...

Nice rank. That's interesting information. Throw into the mix Arsenal's red hot form at the moment and there's a strong case for an Arsenal captain.

But we radically changed our approach in the last game, thanks to Long coming back to fitness and straight into the first team. The team was much more mobile and much more threatening. Stats don't give the fully story. Before the Chelsea game, I had no interest in Saints attackers. Now, particularly Mané, is much more interesting.

2 of those by Mane I think. Just have a gut feeling and im chasing a 19 point lead who has him. When I post my team everyone hates my triple SOT defense but no one will tell me to get rid of them either lol. Considering finding a way to get Terry in for one of Clyne or Bertrand and getting Mane as my third player.

No, I don't think so. He can score. It could have been disastrous that I went for Giroud that week instead of Austin but it's been great 🙂 Oh and I had Defoe which made the decision of getting Austin in easier for most I think. Feel really good about that decision. But Eriksen hasn't quite paid off for me at the expense of Sanchez. I hope I don't regret losing him soon...Eriksen will soon become Silva I think.

I'm doing the same for now, I'm not confident about it but with Giroud's price/blank he's still there. May ditch ahead of Aguero for Benteke, not sure yet.

I realise how stupid contemplating Austin over Aguero is, but ditching Aguero enables Sturridge/Costa and another big hitter.

    Hi all

I've just spent a little while assessing the goals conceded and shots conceded (in and out) stats in comparison to the captain decision for each week.

I've looked at the main captain choices and how their opposition fair defensively to try and see if the 'obvious pick' based on defensive stats leads to the most points.

Tracking back three weeks I thought I was onto something, but two weeks prior to that have skewed it somewhat.

What's the best way to share this data? If anyone is actually interested?!

I don't think you can, because I had to take information from different tables.

For each gameweek captain choice, I reviewed the defensive stats for the previous 4 gameweeks - if that makes sense?

Reading while at work so only glanced at your post. Thought you were suggesting you had combined data from different tables outside the members area and that is why you couldn't create a table.

Possibly it'd be more interesting if it revealed a stand out captain option for the week!
