And yeah, you're definitely right, but I currently have a benching headache every week anyway. This squad at least restricts me to a 50/50 choice each week (mostly)I'm aiming for a similar team but will probably have a cheaper third striker once Lukaku's good fixtures take a turn.

We can't buy a clean sheet, and we can't score, so....I have Moreno too. Had Benteke earlier in the season but had to sell.
Yeah, had him myself too. Punted on Firmino after City and he let me down badly too, so he's out. Don't have the confidence to get back on that bandwagon

In signing Elliot I think he's got some nice fixtures to alternate with Butland, but it's not a 100% rotation strategy.

Mine's been captain choice just worked out my captain has blanked 12 out of 22 gameweeks.
Most of that has been captaining Aguero far too much.
Didn't own Vardy at all during his fantastic run
Vardy, and I love his game, decided I couldn't indulge based on that dropped day before it started.

Wilson (outside of his hat trick)
Giroud (got rid before his only brace of the season)

Keeping Hazard for 9 weeksPlayed Hazard 12 times getting an average of 2.4 points from him. Jesus.
Hazard has been my 2nd thing after poor captaincy choices but I'm a Chelsea fan so having no Chelsea players in my team has been hard this season especially when going to Stamford Bridge on occasion.
Captain choice definitely.
Also having too strong a squad so racking up bench points. Eight times I had a bench with more than 10 pts, with 24 and 18 the highest left idle on the pine. That comes from having too much faith in big name players and not enough on emerging stars.Every week I've been one player, one captain choice or one bench player away from a good to excellent score. Not done too much wrong this season apart from that - but it proved very costly indeed.

Got to the point at times this season where I'm scared to select my captain.Go with gut! Logic always seems to bite in the bum

captaincy is a huge part of this game...
stuck on Aguero too many times earlier in the season. I was fortunate to have him captain in GW8, but missed his haul in GW22 when I went for Payet vs Newcastle... 🙁I had him captain every week from GW3-GW8!
He blanked every week apart from 1 assist until GW8 got the 50 points then got injured.
Didn't learn my lesson and captained him when he came back from injury again.

I sold Mahrez for 3 of his hauls predicting regression. Cost me about 60 points.

Hazard.... Ramsey.... So many fails there.
-12 pt hit selling Mahrez, Iggy and KDB. They all explode later. Cost me 800K places down, back to top 1M. Still recovering from it. Who knows will I ever do it this season. 🙁

But now that Aguero is back, I can slap it on him and forget about it. The captaincy is an element of luck and I am not good at luck. But I am awesome on choosing a squad of 15 for a whole season-long campaign. Hence, now onwards till Aguero is fit, I have no worries and will see green all the way.

I think its being savvy with when you captain Aguero.
Last week I went Kane due to better fixture.
This week I'm thinking Lukaku.
Next week I'll be back on Aguero for Sunderland.Same to me. Went Kane. Plan Lukaku and then Kun.
I am doing Aguero each match unless he is against defences like Arsenal/Spurs etc., where he can score but will not be racking up a 15 point haul if I have a better candidate that week.
But 90% of the time it will be Aguero.Understand v Arsenal but don't forget his record v Spurs.
Scored 4 against them last season.
Sold Mahrez Kolarov and Vardy too early, it looks great now, but when I did it Mahrez bagged 4 goals and an assist, Vardy got a goal and 2 assists, and Kolarov scored in the immediate 2 weeks after.
Oh, and their replacements were Coutinho (played once, injured since) Kane (at the time got yellowed twice in a row) and Simpson, who i benched twice
Having Hazard at Pantilimon at the start and keeping them for too long. Also not having a United defender when they were getting all those clean sheets.
Captaincy. I think 13-14 blanks. Also, not owning Arsenal or City defense has cost me.

Owning Hazard
Not owning Mahrez (initially)
Made a few silly hits while trying to be clever, mostly after Aguero's first injury. Bringing in Sturridge and Walcott instead of Kane and anyone else.
Also brough in DeGea for a hit, causing me to bench Butland right as he went on a string of double digit hauls.
If it weren't for those two mistakes, I'd be top of my ML and in the top 10k. Taught me to be more careful with my hits though!
Owning Hazard from GW1 to about GW14 instead of a performing mid price player like Payet/Barkley, which also meant I was late getting Lukaku and Kane due to funds being tied up. Loads of points lost, plus .6 team value loss from Hazard and missed price rises from popular picks.
Bringing both Mane and Pelle in after they destroyed Chelsea while getting rid of Coutinho who soon afterwards scored 37 points in three games.
Players that I haven't owned: Butland, Toby, Barkley and Vardy
captain choices, sometimes just getting 4 pts 4 weeks in a row, then have good cap pick, then back to same 4 pts!also not not cap the less glamour/cheaper players like mahrez, vardy ,igahlo when they were outscoring the bigger budget players
Getting rid of Mahrez in GW11. Trying to stay ahead of the curve and be clever but my awful replacements were woefully short of covering his hauls. I got him back in GW17 but was 49 points worse off.
Funny things is, I'm thinking about ditching him again. This might prove to be the correct time to make the move but then again I could end up with another tale of disastrous FPL management.

aha I have so many. They largely fall under me being deliberately different, 4 key players I've never owned: Vardy, Ighalo, Payet, Ozil.
1. Very decent gameweeks (weeks where I'd have advanced my rank significantly) ruined by a Ighalo haul
2. Plenty of blanks in captain choices
3. Having Mane for 7-8 GWs atleast with no significant returnsAdd: 4. Never owning Payet. Have recently got him
If it wasn't for Mahrez's 3 Suarezesque/Agueroesque gameweeks I would be in Top 10k at least.
Having a feeling to get Kane in for Martial for a hit before his hat trick but played cautious and didn't
Not getting Ozil early enough.
Benching big point hauls and I've never benched mahrez. I prefer to have pts on my bench than cheap bench fodder though. I benched wilson for his hatty, benched pelle for his 13 points, benched several clean sheets but surprisingly only got my gk choice wrong twice.
Late to the vardy and ozil bandwagons but still early enough I guess

From what I worked out we needed 10 points from Willams, Ighalo and Nyom to win the second set.
Never seen the Williams points coming at all. Must be something to do with the name and their performances at Wimbledon 😉🙂

Think he was forced out because if he played another game for Sunderland it would have triggered a new contract for him and they wanted him off the wage bill. Arguably nicer warming a bench in London rather than Sunderland as well!
