Today’s first Euro 2016 match is only the second British home nations clash at a major tournament, as England take on Wales in Group B.

The two sides have a long history on the international stage, having played each other 102 times, with England winning 66 times to Wales’ 14 victories, the last of which came in 1984.

Chris Coleman’s Wales go into the match on the back of a confidence building 2-1 win against Slovakia, where an impressive eight of their 11 goal attempts were on target.

In contrast England’s confidence took a knock after they conceded in injury time in their 1-1 draw with Russia. Roy Hodgson’s team will have to be more clinical if they are to beat Wales after seeing two thirds of their 15 goal attempts against Russia fail to hit the target.

A performance to rival that of their only previous home nations major tournament tie, when they beat Scotland in Euro 96, may be needed if England is to get the better of their noisy neighbours.

Anyone thinking of saving wildcard for the knockout phase? Sure you could get the optimal team for GD3 but is it worth it? I mean e.g. you have 5 players from Italy and 5 players from Spain in the QF and they both go out (unlikely but not impossible, many of your other players from worse teams might go out as well) and then you have only 6 free transfers to the semis meaning that you don't get a full squad.

Which do you think is better: optimal GD3 or full squad for QF or SF?

with efficient planning, 6 transfers should correct the mistake during the knockouts
