We draw the curtain on Gameweek 2 in suitable fashion, by collecting our thoughts on the player, the team and the key talking point.

The Player

There really is no contest.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already taken the Premier League by storm, muscling his way past shell-shocked centre backs and into our Fantasy line-ups.

Hands up, I was initially fooled by his languid style and ageing legs. I doubted he could immediately click in a Manchester United side that almost had to learn how to attack with purpose again after Louis van Gaal’s laboured tenancy.

But Zlatan has let the goals do the talking, which is just fine when you have Paul Pogba doing the rest.

As I’ve already mentioned on these pages, it is Pogba’s performance and the way in which he transformed the United machine that convinced me to shed my doubts on the Swede.

It’s difficult to see United failing to control and dominate the majority of teams with Pogba stationed in the double pivot. His energy will surely be the spark to drive United forward and, in doing so, ensure that Ibrahimovic is readily supplied with opportunities in the box.

He’s already proven just how deadly he can be with service and with spot-kicks now thought to be assured, Ibrahimovic is just too intoxicating to ignore.

The Team

Having given Hull City their moment in the sun in Gameweek 1, Mike Phelan’s side soaked it up, offering up another nomination a week later after an impressive win at Swansea City.

But instead we will turn to another promoted side.

Burnley battled against improbable odds to conjure a victory against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, offering us another reminder that, early in the season, there is often reliable value amongst the new arrivals from the Championship.

Sean Dyche’s side have been here before; they could, and perhaps should have survived in 2014/15.

The Clarets boss now knows exactly how to approach games like the Liverpool encounter: shelve ambition, strangle the centre of the pitch and break with speed and purpose.

It was a policy employed even in the Championship at times, as Dyche exploited Sam Vokes’ physicality alongside the pace and clinical finishing of Andre Gray.

Both opened their accounts on Saturday. Both will look to reach double figures and provide strong FPL value.

Then, in goal, there is Tom Heaton.

Already ranked as the top keeper, the Burnley skipper looks to be a gift. A goalkeeper who will churn out regular save points, behind ten players who, at times, will be drilled to contain opponents in order to earn a result at all costs.

The Talking Point

We have to return to Ibrahimovic.

There’s no doubt we have to acknowledge the excitement he has already brought to our season but, at the same time, we should also take time to consider how, together with Sergio Aguero, he’s already forced our hand.

It seems we have little choice but to plump for the Manchester pairing in our attacks.

In doing so, we’re taking debilitating chunks out of our budget and restricting, if not killing, our ability to react when midfield heavy-hitters start delivering.

Should Alexis Sanchez, Kevin de Bruyne and Dimitri Payet hit the heights again, many of us will be hamstrung and unable to exploit their form.

That is, unless we dare to rid ourselves of Ibrahimovic or Aguero. That seems unlikely.

Those chasing gaps, or even those who refuse to bend to the template attack, at least have a hope on the horizon. The heavy-hitting midfielders will eventually become effective differentials.

Two Gameweeks down and it’s difficult to see any asset competing with the output of Aguero and Ibrahimovic. Right now our only worry is deciding which of the two strikers earns the armband.

It’s up to the likes of Sanchez, De Bruyne and Payet to see if they can burden us with any further concerns.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Firmino>Barkley is not a bad move. I think Sturridge may start against Spurs so his prospects decline. He's better False 9.

Barkley's bang in form and has good fixtures. Firmino has tough games ahead and has only scored 1 against lower league opposition.

Lively. He can setup goals and finish. but too many options for liverpool in my opinion - mane, origi, sturridge, coutinho, lamela could all get goals and assists. no clear dominant leader. Also tier 1 for me is mane, firmino then coutinho, sturrudge, then lamela, origi

Unlikely. Nobody thinks that's the best way to play Pogba, including Mourinho:

Asked what instructions he had given Pogba, Mourinho replied simply: "Play."

He added: "I don't know which position he played. For a player to play with the freedom he has, we have to build a certain organisation around him. He has to play with freedom.

"The last 10 minutes, 2-0, now (you need) more discipline, more tactical organisation, but this is the kind of guy that has to play free."

I am definitely convinced he would produce goals and assists but I also suspect it would be inconsistent due to the position Mou plays him. Mou also mentioned that he would be more attacking sometimes and more defending other times.

I am short by 0.1 to do Firmino>Ozil and would be getting Pogba instead.

As with the majority of overseas players coming in, he's a 'wait and see' for me. Plenty have come here with a big reputation and success in other countries but not quite replicated it in their first PL season. We can't possibly suggest he's fantasy gold based on one game, regardless of how promising he looked.

It's important to note that most players didn't play junior football in England like Pogba.

He's not your typical foreign player that comes to the league with no experience as to what to expect. He was trained on what to expect for a few years.

I'm confident he'll be a very good fpl player, and I'm even more confident after watching the replay of his first match.

We all know he has the technical ability to get goals and assists, but what was more impressive, and what I think will almost guarantee his success in this league, is his ability to create space for himself and others by taking on one or more opponents with ease. This often ends with him having time and space to either get a shot or assist off.

We all know that one of the toughest things about this league is its frantic pace, and with a frantic pace comes a lack of time and space to think and work whilst with the ball.

In my opinion, any player who has the ability, strength, creativity and technique to stretch both time and space with such ease, will inevitably be a success

I'd say he ll be pretty predictable this season. An fpl beast vs the easier teams while he won't do much pointswise vs the tougher ones since he ll be spending a lot of time tracking back etc. Luckily he has got 4 out of the next 5 which look prime for points.

Who to replace Martial with? Will have 6.4 for a replacement and should I replace anyone else?
    MID : Martial/Hazard/Redmond/Bolasie/Deulofeu

Drop Deu or Bolasie to a 4.5 or a 5.5 to free up some dough (take a hit if needed) and get Pog. See comments above about PP...or stick with Martial. His first touch looks off right now though and his body language looks a bit depressed. Not sure why...Rashford should be the one sulking while Tony gets the left wing for himself...maybe losing the #9 shirt is upsetting him, but doesn't he see that Ibra definitely deserves it?

Seems I got lucky with removing Gray for Negredo on Friday, nothing worse than removing a player who scores well from that point on.

Still think he'll be a great option when the fixtures soften and he gets back in the team, looked a really bright spark the other day and Burnley look to be a tough outfit. How long is he likely to be out for if charged?

    Hi guys!

needs some help. I don't want to waste a FT but I don't really see much of an option unless i drop Mahrez.. Is it worth just subbing out Marc Wilson for Amat for +0.1 ?

    I have 2 FT and 1.0 IDB

    Forster
    Friend, Evans, Shaw,
    Hazard, Townsend, Mahrez, Capoue
    Aguero, ibra Gray

subs: Heaton, Stones, March Wilson, Leko

    Shaw, Baines, Walker, McAuley, Amat
    Martial, Nolito, Sigurdsson, Redmond, Carrick
    Ibra, Kane, Benteke
