It’s time for the first members article of the international break now, as we delve into the data from Gameweek 7.

Alexis Sanchez, Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic come under analysis after their Gameweek 7 armband failures.

Paul Pogba’s improved displays without Wayne Rooney in the Man United XI and Nacer Chadli’s start to life at the Hawthorns are also assessed.

    Dear all,

everyone here seems to be fear-mongering about Ibra drops - let me explain a bit how the price rises/drops work

It's very easy for a player to rise above his base price as thresholds are lower, these are irrespective of percentage ownership

but once a player drops to his starting value, then the further drops are a function of percentage ownership.

This is evidenced by how fast Ibra dropped from 11.9 to 11.5 - he only lost his rises. same with hazard dropping only 0.1 below his base price.

As of now Ibra is -43.4% towards a drop and requires over 110k transfers to drop to 11.4. That's because now the no. of ntis required to drop are a function of ownership percentage, which is very very high with ibra given his ownership in the dead teams.

There is no way he will drop more than 0.1 before deadline.

my pleasure, I see posts stating ibra will drop 0.3 etc - clearly people don't know the changes to the price system this year. I'm not advocating getting rid/not getting rid , but to do it purely cause of price drop fears seems irrational

Yeah. I don't own him anymore anyway but it's good information to know. I wondered why when I had Hazard he dropped like a stone and then suddenly at 10.0m he slowed down.

EXactly. I made a similar point earlier as people are also forgetting that international break transfers really tail off after the first weekend and just a head of the next deadline. I can't see much movement before the end of next week and even then 0.1 seems the more realistic drop.

He certainly won't go down 0.3. However, the case of his price fall issue isn't about a single week either. Its about the trajectory.

Zlatan will fall 0.1 for Liverpool. If he fails to get points there, I think it's reasonable to assume that he will fall another 0.1 for Chelsea away. If he does get points vs Liverpool, all it will do is halt the descent (unless he gets a very big score). If he then follows up and doesn't get points vs Chelsea, the descent will resume.

I see no other option but selling him here. Even if he gets points, he's competing with multiple cheaper strikers that are doing the business anyway. He also isn't a potential captain in his next couple of games.

Did you see how easily Swansea opened Liverpool up?

If Sanchez and Aguero are late back to their clubs they may see limited mins.

Costa up against Morgan and Huth in the early kick off after playing twice for Spain.

          Lukaku at the Ethiad

Ibra against a leaky Liverpool side in a 'derby' were form means very little.

I'd review your opinion that he's not a captain option, it's the magical GW8 where strong underlying stats have a habit of exploding!

            Interesting points:

In terms of whether Zlatan can score against Liverpool, of course he can. However, this is still a game where there is a very feasible possibility that Liverpool could win and therefore the points that Zlatan could get may be severely limited. You are also paying value for the privilege which is not close to worth it in my opinion.

As for the captaincy option, I acknowledge that there are fears over the big hitters this week but so perhaps my capataincy point was too heavy handed. However, I still don't feel he is close to the best option in the next 2 gameweeks? Whilst he may well get points the potential of a big score is unlikely enough for me to sleep easy. There are still players you have mentioned that I would definitely captain over him and I certainly don't feel like I could potentially massively miss out like I did in gw7.

Costa is the clearest example. His last game for Spain is this Sunday. There is no issue there. Leicester have conceded 10 goals away from home so far and play CL midweek. Obviously in FPL, you never know. But this is as close to a 'strictly better' choice as you are going to find.

In terms of Sanchez and Aguero. I can't deny that there is a risk with them after the internationals. It's about how each player judges the situation.

In my opinion, Sanchez will play. I personally feel confident enough to risk the armband (news dependent) and probably will do so. Sanchez has mostly been played after these breaks in recent seasons and the fact that he already didn't start in gw4 strengthens my resolve this time around.

Aguero, I probably would not risk with Barcelona coming I admit. Lukaku also probably not.

In terms of gameweek 9. Aguero and Sanchez are both easily better choices based on the information we have currently.

Very good logic - a point well made, however, imagine if he goes on to score 10+ points in the Liverpool match? With such a high ownership, this will be very damaging for those without him in.

Points over pounds for me on this one.

If he scores 10pts+, that would be annoying. Is he going to do it again against Chelsea though? The combination of both games is just awful. Also, people's resolve will be tested should he blank at Liverpool. Zlatan owners need to ask themselves that question. If he blanks against Liverpool, will you still keep him for Chelsea? I suspect that for many the answer will be no and if that is the case, you should get rid now.

If this is true. Then why did Zaza drop below his starting value at speed. He dropped 0.4 in two weeks

      1. zøphar
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 14 Years

this in fact explains a lot about why zaza dropped so quickly - his low ownership

the drops below base price don't have specific thresholds like rises do, for example for a rise a player requires approx 75k ntis , the threshold depends on ownership and percentage of the owners who get rid

because his ownership was so low, it required very few transfers for him to drop.

      2. VS10_
        • 8 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

It is explained in that post, at the end. Zaza's ownership was very low, but the teams who had him were 100% active which means that when owners started to get rid of him his ownership percentage dropped like a stone and caused the drops.

2 FT's, and no Arsenal players which appears to be my priority at the moment. Happy to hold Ibra too as I feel a change in fortune is imminent... But I think Haz needs to go I paid 10.2 so on a 0.3 loss already.

    Hi guys,

Anyone care to pick an option for me please?

Want an Arsenal defender, but is Bellerin worth the premium?

    A. Bellerin and Arnautovic
    B. Mustafi and Son

    Thanks.

B for me. Not sure how Kane getting back will affter (if at all) Son's output, but I still prefer it

Bellerin almost like a 5th mid for me. Other option than Arnie?

Thinking of playing my AOA this week (especially as I am playing 2nd place in my head head league).

    What would you guys recommend:

    Heaton
    Walker XXX
    Sanchez Son Firmino Walcott Capoue
    Deeney Kun Lukaku

    A. Williams (city away)
    B. Lovren (utd home)
    C. Evans (spurs home)
    D. Bench Capoue and play 2 of the above

Midfield mess? I have 5m itb but no FT.

    Payet/Cazorla/Snodgrass/Puncheon/Capoue

So many mid options to bring in: 4 Liv mids, Walcott, Son, Sterling being the obvious ones.
I think with the fixtures it's worth leaving until after GW8 (rather than taking a hit)!
Which is my biggest concern (getting rid of Santi & upgrading Puncheon I'm guessing)?
    Thoughts appreciated!

Jesus, how do you even get yourself in that position.

Have you got a WC? Yeah upgrading Cazorla and Punch is your priority. Sanchez & Firmino/Cout/Mane

I was suprised. Think it's the cheapest midfield I've seen on here.

Although with a couple of transfers it could be rectified.

The joys of wanting to keep Kun/Ibra/Lukaku/Payet/Bellerin....
Cheers, yes 2 transfers will have it looking much better

I hear ya mate, still around the 5K mark though somehow so they have served me well allowing me 3 big hitters up top. But now it's looking shockingly weak!
Think I will wait until after GW8 and make a double mid transfer. Cheers & GL

Contemplating getting in bench fodder forward with Kun and Lukaku and powerhouse midfield of Sanchez, De Bruyne (after EVE) Son, Firmino and Mane, too risky?

Starting to warm to the idea of bringing Clyne in for Valencia. Pool's fixtures are lovely, and he is pretty attacking. Thoughts?

everytime i put Clyne in my WC team i think.. meh, i can get Vertonghen for the same price and i take him out again. if you want cheap, attacking and good fixtures go with Robertson. think he'll match clyne for points over the next 8

I have used a trade on Zlatan -> Deeney. What should my second trade be? I could always hold.

    5.7 in the bank

    Schmeichel
    Valencia / Pieters / Stones
    Bolasie / Firmino / Redmond / Antonio
    Aguero / Deeney / Lukaku

    Jaku / Capoue / Evans / Friend

I also did Zlatan to Deeney keeping money itb to upgrade my midfield after GW8.
Def keep your second FT for now, could be injuries over the break etc. GL

Think I may end up keeping Ibrahimovic. As the article shows, his stats are great, and could easily have had a huge haul last week. I can only really try to justify shifting him if using the cash to upgrade elsewhere so that means hits, always risky

Seeing a lot of suggestions for people to bring in Snodgrass/Robertson.. do you really expect much from them? I know Hull's fixtures have turned now, but they look increasingly poor, the 2nd half against Chelsea could have easily ended up worse than 2-0

Basically I have a midfield downgrade as an option but finding myself increasingly looking at Allen instead of Snodgrass.. if Hernandez remains dropped he is on pens but I'm not sure if that's enough for me

I absolutely wouldn't touch Robertson as I don't trust that defence. I've been considering Snodgras but i'm just not sold on them as an attacking force either! I get the feeling that the 'honeymoon is over' for them in the PL now
