The Technical Area – Burnley’s Backline

A third of the season is almost done, and Burnley’s defence is riding high as a source of Fantasy returns.

After a surprising debut campaign in which a recurring series of defensive heroics – particularly at Turf Moor – saw the Clarets survive in 16th place, their sophomore season has been altogether more impressive.

Sean Dyche’s side sit in seventh place – tied on points with both Liverpool and Arsenal –a nd have conceded fewer goals than all but the top three of Manchester City, Manchester United and Spurs.

Can their defence continue to perform at such a high level throughout the campaign? And who among their array of options looks best placed to prosper from this upturn in solidity?

Our latest Technical Area article for members is heading north in search of Fantasy value from the Burnley backline.

Scott Dann averaging 1.2 points per game this season. The only way is up.

These decisions are the ones which make or break FFS'ers.

Scott Dann would give me triple Palace (RLC and Speroni). I'm actually considering it.

RLC is always hurt - you'll really only ever 2 CPL that can play.

Do It - New and Bri next two. If you don't have Lukaku for those two when would you?

Liverpool have been boosted by the return of Sadio Mane to full training. The winger rejoined his teammates at Melwood this afternoon after aggravating his hamstring while on international duty with Senegal. #LFC

Trying to decide whether to take a hit. Already made one change but have Otomendi (Not playing) and doubts over Sterling, Loftus Cheek and Chris Wood. Which of those are going to play is the question. Do I take a risk or take -4 and bring in Murray or Wilson for Wood. Your thoughts would be appreciated please.

Hello guys. Should I pull the trigger and do one of these for -4 points or should I keep it?

      A) Cresswell, Hazard, Abraham --> Lukaku, Fernandinho and Moreno? (having lukaku, kane, morata in the attack)

      B) Cresswell, Eriksen, Morata --> Lukaku, Moreno and Sane? (Having a stronger midfield with Sane and Lukaku and Kane in the attack)

      My current team is:
      Elliot, Foster
      Jones, Naughton, Mbemba, Otamendi, Cresswell
      Hazard, RLC, Ramsey, Eriksen, Sterling
      Kane, Morata, Abraham
