Suspensions

Reports confirm that the FA will take no action against Romelu Lukaku following an altercation with Brighton and Hove Albion’s Gaetan Bong in Saturday’s match.

The Manchester United striker appeared to kick out at the defender but will not face a charge or a suspension as a result.

Lukaku has suffered significant Fantasy Premier League sales of late, following returns of just a single goal in six Gameweeks, but he is still part of 45% of squads.

He is already the most sold player ahead of Tuesday’s 6.45pm Gameweek 14 deadline and that lack of form means that the market is unlikely to be affected too much by today’s news, with Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata the key benefactor as the exodus gathers momentum.

Elsewhere, there are some significant additions to the suspension tightrope in Gameweek 13 now confirmed by the FA.

Manchester City’s Leroy Sane is undoubtedly the big new arrival, having picked up his fourth booking of the season at Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

Sane was cautioned in an EFL Cup tie with West Brom earlier in the season to add to his three Premier League bookings; the German is now just a single caution away from a one-match ban.

He has to navigate the next seven Gameweeks without a yellow card in order to avoid a ban.

Similarly, team-mate Fernandinho is also on the brink, having gained his fourth booking at the John Smith’s Stadium.

With the Manchester derby looming, Pep Guardiola’s approach to the selection of these two players will be fascinating.

Both would seem likely to feature in the Gameweek 14 meeting with Southampton but, with West Ham to come before the United clash, Guardiola could show caution for that fixture.

Brighton pair Shane Duffy and Glenn Murray are also new arrivals. They will go into a “local derby” with Crystal Palace just one caution shy of a ban.

Both have proved popular targets of late are owned by a combined 300,000 FPL managers.

Huddersfield’s Rajiv van La Parra is now serving a three-match suspension following his straight red for the “exchange” with Sane and will sit out the next three Gameweek fixtures for the Terriers.

He joins Everton’s Oumar Niasse on the sidelines, with the Senegal striker serving out his two-match suspension in Wednesday’s home meeting with West Ham. He will return for a Gameweek 15 with Huddersfield.

The Suspension Tightrope widget keeps a tally of cards accumulated from all domestic matches across the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Premier League. It is available under the Watchlist rankings in your right sidebars or via the slide-in menu on mobile and tablet.

It currently shows those players one booking away from a one-match ban.

Just a reminder that players must avoid five yellow cards over their respective team’s first 19 Premier League matches in order to avoid a suspension. Similarly, they must steer clear of 10 cautions over their side’s 32 opening top-flight matches to prevent a ban.

For Fantasy managers, this means that Gameweek 19 – on December 23 – is currently the curfew for five yellow cards. Players, therefore, have seven matches yet to play before the threshold moves to 10 yellow cards.

Btw, do you think that Sterling is going to be rested any time soon?
Thinking about Silva → Sterling so I could afford making Jones to Alonso/Azpi..

Silva -> Sterling is a good move, even if he does get rested every once in a while he's so much more explosive than Silva. Makes even more sense if it allows you to get Alonso/Azpi

Honestly think it's worth it, your decision though! I'm thinking of doing Alli + Maguire -> Fabregas + Alonso for -4, do you think it's worth it? Similar move to yours, need to downgrade Alli to get Alonso in

Well Leicester are quite bad lately, so would happily ditch Maguire as he's not really a goal threat as before, and I'd want to get rid of Alli if I'd have him. But not sure if Fabregas is a good pick tbh..

Kennedy I suppose, or Azpi and then a different back 3. But Conte doesn't seem to rate the former, whilst the latter doesn't offer what Alonso does. I suppose he could be, but it'll be the same question for 90% of outfield players. I would probably say Azpi is less prone than Alonso, but I doubt more than one game if any.

Looking for advice on the draft if somebody will help me out.

Currently have Joselu, Carroll and Lacazette as strikers. Can swap out any for Abraham, Austin, Benteke, Calvert-Lewin who are the pick of the options. Should I leave as is or take a punt on any?

Also, opinions on Will Hughes? Worth going for? He seems to be picking up form.

Which option would you go for on WC? Need to decide on the last 2 defs, 1 mid and 1 fwd.

Basically choosing 2 of Wilson, Richarlison, prem defender and going budget on the remaining spots:

    A) Kola, Kiko, Gross, Niasse
    B) Mustafi, Kiko, Richarlison, Niasse
    C) Mustafi, Duffy, Gross, Wilson
    D) Otamendi, Duffy, Richarlison, Niasse
    E) Kiko, Duffy, Richarlison, Wilson

    Rest of the team is:

    DDG Elliot
    Daniels Mee Naughton * *
    Hazard Salah Sterling RLC *
    Kane Morata *

    CAPTAIN NOTES:

Chelsea: Hazard played 70 mins in the CL, and played the whole game vs Liverpool. On paper a great captain option, but could very well be due to a rest in a match, where Contes team should have no problem seeing off Swansea with the likes of Willian finding form. Morata only came on for a 20 min cameo in the CL, but also played the whole game vs LFC. He has played less minutes than Hazard of late, and with bashuayi still a concern, seems like the more safe captain option, as Conte has no other natural striker available.

    - Verdict: Morata

Spurs: Spurs have lost to many points in the PL recently, and will play Leicester away in a match that wont be straight forward for pochs team. Given they have alreadt qualified 1st in their CL group, and that they are desperate for a win, it seems very unlikely that Kane will be rested.

    - Verdict: Kane

City: City are in an intruiging form of late, and should easily be able to see out southhampton on hometurf. Aguero is on paper a brilliant captaincy option, but given he has now played 2x 90 in a short amount of time, it seems more likely that Jesus, who only came on for a late cameo win the PL and was also rested in the CL will start. But guessing Peps lineup has proved somewhat impossible so giving the armband to a City asset, will also be risky. This time out, it seems less risky though.

    - Verdict: Jesus

Liverpool: On paper Salah is also a great option. But with the amount of gametime he has played lately, he really seems due to a rest. Mane and Firmino were rested vs chelsea, perhaps in order to have them both fresh in the abscense of Salah. Mane here seems like the most appealing option between him and Firmino. Coutinho could also be due to a rest in this match.

    Verdict: Sadio Mane

    My ranking:

    1. Morata
    2. Kane (safer bet than Jesus in terms of a start)
    3. Jesus
    4. Mane

    Thoughts?

Thanks buddy.. Im captaining Morata withwith Hazard as VC. Both wont be rested that is for sure. And as I think they will have no problems seeing off Swansea, Im pretty sure the one of them being rested wont come on for a late cameo. If I didnt own both, I would definetely VC Kane.

Is Willian finding form? Not sure he's in any noteworthy form, albeit he doesn't look bad. Hazard isn't a natural striker but he may play up top with Willian and Pedro flanking him, seeing as it worked so well. Unlikely, but possible. Both will start imo, but I'd prefer Hazard as the captain choice.

      I'd say Sane from City.

      Salah from Liverpool still, easily.

I do believe he is (Willian). And as they have now played 3 games in about a week, there is no reason for Conte to risk both Hazard and Morata. Might as well give Hazard the rest now, and rest Morata when batshuayi is fit. When Morata is rested at some point, Hazard may fill out his role. But I dont think that will happen before they have Batshuayi ready as a super sub, if it does not go according to plan.

3 games in about one week, the festive period incoming.. Now is the perfect time to do it. Take a look at for instance whoscored.com's lineup predictions and so many other sites. They tend to agree with me on this one and I with them.

"Ignore at your own peril". During a busy period, Id rather go for the safe option than the more explosive option as the difference between the players aint that big anyways.

As for Salah, he has only been rested for one game so far this season. And LFC also needs him fresh for the home game vs Spartak Moscow in the CL, in order to assure first place in the group. He might end up being fatigued other wise. As Mane and Firmino were rested vs Chelsea, now seems the perfect opportunity to rest him.

Well I think you've made a proper ranking, and it's well-argued. I will (C) Hazard, and I will try not to let my (C) get influenced by to many 'rotation conspiracie'. The moment Hazard starts against SWA I would regret not having him as (C) > Morata, and then i would tell myself: "okay he gets rested next time then" which will result in me not (C) him in the next 8 games 😀

With City that many points ahead the other managers kind of need to play their best in-form-players. Otherwise they will just do as Spurs last week. Salah and Morata are on fire, and i can see them getting 60 min and then subbed, but not benched for 80 min.

However. I did do Agüero -> Morata yesterday due to City rotation 😉

I will (C) Kane, Hazard or Salah. I am not gonna (C) Morata when owning Hazard. Not once.

You got some really good points, but in regards to Hazard I think you should account for him losing large parts of the season as a factor. With him playing 631 minutes in the PL thus far, fatigue shouldn't be an issue. Another thing to consider is that Conte's 3-5-1-1 formation, which has worked well for him, demands a player like Hazard in that 10 position. Willian/Pedro can't replace him that easily, so I'm not sure if a formation change is something Conte will go for.

TL;DR: He'll start, but look for the early sub if the game is won early on.

      1. FC Hakkebøf
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 3 months ago

Willian can most definetely play that role.. Conte can also play a 3-4-3 - it won him the league last year..

If hazard starts, but is subbed off early, that is enough reason to hand the armband to Kane or Morata imo

        1. Fingerspitzengefühl
          • 9 Years
          8 years, 3 months ago

Conte can do a lot of things, benching his best player when he's just about to peak and regain full match fitness isn't one of them 😛 Rotation will hit the center of the park more if you ask me, with Fabregas looking good for a start and maybe Moses could get a game now.

There's also the fact that Swans hasn't conceded much(only 15 goals thus far), which for Conte means he needs the key offensive players to fire.

I'm hoping Rich is a season-keeper for me but, with an active WC, I think there's some logic in the above. Zaha, as suggested below, is a good shout, or maybe downgrade Gross to Hughes and upgrade Rich to Pogba? Either way, you currently have three mids who could all easily blank over the next few moons. I do love a strong defence, though. Good luck.

Thinking of saving FT and using 2 the weekend to address Aguero and maybe get Hazard in for Carroll by downgrading Kun.

Right move and G2G for tomorrow?

    Elliot (Speroni)
    Daniels Otamendi Mee (Gomez Kiko)
    Silva Salah Richarlison Gross (Carroll)
    Kane Morata Aguero

So hope everyone is doing well. I find myself with a problem and I'd really like some help from the community if it's not too much to ask.

    This is my team:
    Elliot (Speroni)
    Azpi Daniels Ward (Gomez) (Duffy)
    Sane Salah Groß Richarlison (RLC)
    Morata Aguero Kane

    I have 2FT and 0.1m ITB.

Since Aguero is scoring goals for me, it's becoming increasingly difficult to remove him from my team. I honestly don't know where I should use a transfer but I should really use one since I have 2 FT's.

Where do you think I should use it?

Aguero and RLC => Hazard and Niasse

exactly the issue with that move. It doesn't work for because Aguero is firing.

Has scored in every game he has played in the PL since 9th September. I call that firing.

How would you get Hazard in there - are you willing to sacrifice Kane?

Chelsea fixtures are excellent and Hazard looks I’m great shape.

Not sacrificing Kane and already have Morata so I'm covered I think.

great team and i agree, hard to strengthen out-field.
i think you could do with some better goalkeeping options as Elliot is not keeping clean sheets and Speroni is not first choice.
How about either Henessey or Grant for 4.3m. Grant is guaranteed until at least the new year and Hennessey also i think.

I'd love to get another keeper over Speroni but I'm 0.2m short from your suggestions. I'd like to switch Speroni for Hennessey or Grant but I simply can't find 0.2m anywhere. There is an option with Gomez or Duffy to downgrade but I'm already 0.1m in the up with them and another 0.1m will get me profit.

I would suggest Gomez due to his risk of rotation, however you've no dead weight in your 15 so probably not necessary.

I just want to wait for one more 0.1m more to get that price rise. That's my issue.

I would not change any of your front eight. You have options covered.
Duffy on 4YC and Gomez not guaranteed, on saying that he has just had a rest so may be assured.
Aguero doesn't need 90 mins to score good points so even if rotated can still do well.
You are week in the goalie area, although palace have decent fixtures but you are really relying on the 'odd' clean sheet rather than consecutive ones.
I know I've not offered any solutions but just look at securing 15 players you are happy will play as we approach the "rotation period" of december/new year.

The great issue is I can't upgrade my keeper unless I downgrade Gomez or Duffy significantly.

        Is that worth it?

I would downgrade duffy not gomez, as i can see gomez cementing a regular place now klopp sees him as a centreback. With that front eight you have plenty of room for rotating such as RLC with your defenders, so IMO You dont need 5 playing defenders (barring injuries of course). Find a better keeper if you can eg pope/grant and play the fixtures with them and elliot.
          Good luck whatever you choose.

Looks like he'll be allowed to leave in January. So his main use to Spurs over the next month should be to keep Davies fresh, rather than the other way around.
