Dugout Discussion – Man City vs Spurs

Saturday’s events end with the headline act, as leaders Manchester City host Spurs at the Etihad Stadium.

The big team news is undoubtedly the omission of David Silva, reportedly due to “personal reasons”. We have no further explanation as yet for a player who was the most signed ahead of Gameweek 18, with over 278,000 drafting him in.

Silva had returned four goals from his previous four Gameweeks and his absence will be felt by City, with İlkay Gündogan coming in to replace the Spaniard.

For Spurs, Dele Alli returns to the starting line-up as expected, though Danny Rose plays back-to-back league matches for the first time this season, with Ben Davies kept on the bench. Kieran Trippier returns at right-back.

Intriguingly, two of the most sold players this week – Leroy Sane (sold by 166,000) and Harry Kane (sold by 135,000) – are in opposition and will be under scrutiny.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      kola 0, ward0, both did not play. kabasele 0; otamendi YC & Naughton away to EVE. Terrible performance by defenders. Just dont understand why Kola did not start today also. I missed 2 CS bcoz of idiot wenger. Also took a hit *only 3rd hit of the season) to get in d silva. luckily rlc is there for me on the bench for 6 pts.

        I think it is Lloris. He is not good at passing. That puts the defenders under pressure when they receive the ball. I still think Spurs should try to be more direct with a Llorente and leave 3 up top. Force City to make a decision as to whether to leave defenders back or gamble.

            The thing with city, is Man City have flooded their do with goal threat players. You can mark sterling, kun, sane all you want but you can’t take into account gundo , ota and fern scoring. I think Watford had been applying a similar tactic during their good run. You just can’t mark everyone
