Harry Kane emphatically breaks more records and the hearts of those Fantasy managers who risked turning their back on his talents ahead of an impending blank.

The Spurs striker made it back-to-back hat-tricks from a blisteringly productive festive schedule so far. In doing so, he shattered Alan Shearer’s Premier League record for goals in a calendar year.

Those Fantasy managers who showed patience and held on to Kane will be overjoyed, but now have another difficult decision ahead of them.

They will face a dilemma with a second consecutive 17-point to sweeten the pill, but two hat-tricks in the space of three days cannot shift the fact that Kane now has a blank to come.

More than 131,000 managers had brought him in for the 5-2 win over Southampton regardless of that blank, with 1,161,712 making him the most-captained player of Gameweek 20.

They are now part of a 41.2% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership that must decide whether to stick or twist on the forward.

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata is an obvious replacement for Gameweek 21, and he made his case with a first goal since Gameweek 15. To add to the Spaniard’s appeal, the Blues entertain Stoke City next and the Potters, already without Kurt Zouma, saw their skipper Ryan Shawcross limp off today.

But the downside of selling Kane involves cost – in both price and transfers expended.

His value is on the move. It rose to 12.9 ahead of Boxing Day and could increase again before Gameweek 21 with a number of managers either oblivious to, or simply not caring about, his blank.

Some 33,000 have already transferred him in for his non-existent Gameweek 21, so should his price rise again, those selling him could lose profit as well as the two transfers the transaction will cost – assuming, that is, that they bring Kane back for fixtures with Swansea City and West Ham. That is surely a given.

Ignoring Kane for that upcoming pair of attractive fixtures seems untenable. He will be the most-captained for Gameweek 22 and, those with the Triple Captain chip in hand will surely consider putting it in play on the back of Kane’s confidence and devastating form.

Spurs Midfield stake their claim

Kane isn’t the only member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad who warrants consideration ahead of the double-header.

Son Heung-min is building a convincing case.

The midfielder started his sixth straight match against Southampton and produced a goal, two assists and a bonus point for a second double-digit haul of that run.

In fact, Son has managed four goals and as many assists from those six matches and although he’s currently the fourth most bought player despite the blank Gameweek 21, he’s still only owned by 3.9%.

Previously far more popular, Dele Alli (11.5%) is also enjoying a min-revival.

He followed up his brace of assists at Burnley with two more, and a goal, against the Saints, with two bonus points pushing his Gameweek tally to a season’s best 15.

Son’s 8.0 price and his considerably more consistent recent form will ensure that the South Korean is favoured, with Alli reduced to an unlikely Gameweek 22 differential.

The same will probably apply to Christian Erisken. The Dane’s assist was dwarfed by other performances, but marked a fifth return in six Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, it remains difficult to justify investment in the Spurs defence.

Pochettino’s rotation policy concerning his wing-backs is now confusing everyone but him, with Serge Aurier (0.5%) handed a second straight start – and his third in four matches – as Kieran Trippier (5.8%) joined Ben Davies on the bench.

With the points potential of Spurs’ wing-backs now difficult to predict, the side’s lack of defensive stability – they’ve kept just two clean sheets since Gameweek 12 – further dampens the appeal of recruitment for the forthcoming double.

Why do the damn price changes have to be a hot topic every day??

Just add a section to the site? Could be members only since we have actually paid for using this.

They are on the FPL site for free.

TM handily puts them together so people can see them in one place shortly after they change.

Its a really good thing he does and is widely welcomed by many. Certainly one of the first things I look at in the morning on site.

Maybe you could list all the other things that could be improved or that piss you off while you're at it. I'm completely sure the regulars and the thousands others that use the site will be happy to comply.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Gameweek 20 Lessons Learned So Far

What key lessons have you learned so far in Gameweek 20.

Here’s a few to get the discussion started

    Kanexit regrets

Have to get this out the way first. Kane is a special player, who is capable of huge hauls on a regular basis. As Ludo’s Hot Topic shows he is a Fantasy great.

    http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2017/12/26/scout-notes-relentless-kane-rolls-on/?hc_page=15#hc_comment_17319863

But as we have also found out this season he can be a frustrating player to own.

Those who ditched him took a bold move and it didn’t work out. But for some, who perhaps swapped him for Firmino and distributed funds to get say Alonso or Coutinho in, the damage has not been too bad.

For those who suffered through Kanexit, Gameweek 22 is a perfect time to move on from this disastrous Christmas decision, get him back in, enjoy his points (or cry at his unexpected blanks) and move on.

    Lingard tops Pogba

Many, like myself, leapt aboard the Pogba bandwagon a couple of Gameweeks ago only to see a player sit deep while Jesse Lingard takes up the positions that the Frenchman did earlier this season.

Lingard in terms of output and value looks an excellent Fantasy purchase and should be nailed on Gameweek 21 after being dropped from the Gameweek 20 starting line up. His subsequent brace yesterday off the bench adds to his case.

Pogba though is showing some promise –if he can move closer to the penalty box that is. Over the last two Gameweeks Pogba is, surprisingly top among Man Utd assets for shots. A third of his attempts were on target, although just one was from close range.

Lingard has only had one more shot on target than Pogba. But crucially all but one of his shots were in the box.

On current evidence Lingard – who is around 2m cheaper – is clearly the better option and many Pogba owners may now be considering that ‘downgrade’.

Members can see more detailed stats here http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/5190/

    Owning Salah is not enough.

Once again Salah delivered attacking returns. But with a huge effective ownership – especially among those in the top 10K, he arguably needs to be captained or supplemented by other Liverpool attacking assets to ensure owning him brings a green arrow.

Both Firmino and Coutinho once again brought in double digit hauls and owning one or even both of them alongside Salah has been the smart move over Christmas. A Reds double or triple up is something those who only have Egyptian may now be considering.

Feel free to add your thoughts on these and let us know what lessons you have learned so far in Gameweek 20.

Kane triple captain locked in for DGW.
Definetly considering Firmino as my replacement for Lukaku this week and for the foreseeable future, but Morata against that depleted Stoke defence could be lucrative

      -firmino better value than morata
-arnie is a must have for dgw
-spurs mid a must for dgw
      - westham nd spurs defence not worth investing in for dgw

      It is all about timing.

If you had taken Kane out for Firmino 3/4/5/6 weeks ago you would be net better off.

Firmino has scored 52 points in the last 6 GWs.
Kane has scored 51 points in the last 6 GWs.

        Last two GWs:

        Kane(c) + Mee = 68 + 2 = 70 pts
        to
        Firmino(c) + Alonso = 48 + 20 = 68 pts

Plus you will have two players with good fixtures next week and increased team value.

Kane is no lesson for me as I knew he is bet striker in the league. Lingard was suppose to enter my team after DGW but can't wait anymore.

The lesson that I've got is that I need Firmino. Was thinking about it too long. Strat GW1 with him but than sold when he lost penalties. He was on my list for few weeks now and I've bought ystrdy as had exact funds. Feels great!

Lesson learnt - some reflection might serve us well. Gloat less, appreciate luck more.

A lot of us kept Kane because of a)Morata suspension and/or b)impending DGW.

I consider it more luck than anything else that I had him in my team for these two games.

-Azpi needs Morata as much as Hazard does to get attacking returns.
-Westham defense is still crap. The CSs against the top teams were a fluke. We don't need any Westham or Spurs defenders for the DGW

Haz > Kane for frustrating players to own Jonty... the price fall last night means that I’ll give him yet another final chance. But I put down the ineffectiveness down to the false 9 he was playing. But that excuse might wear thin if he blanks again next GW with Morata playing.

"Disastrous Kanexit" is largely a myth.

Sure, those who have kept and captained Kane these last two weeks are still up on the deal.

However Kane isn't the only player in form. Large amounts of money from Kane's sale have made their way to Firmino, Coutinho, Sterling, etc. Improving those "magic beans" into something useful.

So in a lot of cases, getting rid of Kane hasn't hurt that much.

And those without Kane are fine for GW21...no issues banking an FT ahead of DGW22. And those with Morata/Hazard could yet have the last laugh.

The irony of FPL points. I have seen a lot of posts slating Hazard for his recent performances. 2 of his ‘blanks’ actually earned him man of the man honours and was incredibly unlucky for his efforts to not translate into FPL points. The eye test is hugely important in this game in my opinion and was the single greatest reason I never once waivered on Kane. Hazard will haul soon and I am undoubtedly handing him the armband this weekend. Conversely, Arnautovic scored a brace last night consisting of two tap-ins following goal keeping errors. I think it’s important to make informed decisions based on not just points but actually watch games and see how the players are performing on the pitch

Didnt think he was amazing vs Everton or Brighton tbh, but ut wss unbelievable he didnt get very good points vs Huddersfield - Pedro wasted two golden opportunities created by Hazard

This being said, Im not ditching him before STO (H) who will play without Zouma and Martins Indi.

As for captaincy, Morata also deserves consideration I think, as well as Salah. Havent decided yet between those three (with Eden).

That's true. Anyone ditching him before STK is setting themselves up for a fall.

But his time in many teams will end on GWK 22. He won't be able to compete with the lure of a DGW midfielder then.

I raged transferred him out last night for Coutinho. I already regret that decision.

My only glimmer of hope is that he is due a rest. The person who seems to have an in at Chelsea (this is mentioned in the last scoutcast by Jonty) said he was due a rest in either Brighton or Stoke on the forums last week.

Sorry to say that Coutinho is very likely to be rested, and Hazard is firmed to start next instead. Hazard was off at 73rd min last match, while Coutinho played full match when Salah and Firmino taken off at 60-ish min with Mane was on the bench for full match.

I made a looot of mistakes beliving in players who were just passing eye test and lost a lot waiting too long for a "eye test player" to score so it's not as easy as you said. Some players are just lucky or just unlucky.
That said keeping Hazard for sure.

I'm just bored of owning players that pass the eye test but continue to blank. It makes sense, but it made me miserable. He had to go for someone who's delivering the shots and goals right now.

Arnautovic, but I have more than enough to get both thanks to how much money you get from downgrading Hazard.

Sometimes Hazard is too intricate for FPL, always looking to take that extra touch to sort himself, or dribble past another opponent instead of shooting.

Happened twice yesterday, one for the shot that was cleared off the line, and later when Morata send him through and he over-elborated.

In FPL, you want guys that shoot on sight. Hazard doesn't do enough of that.

I agree with the majority of your points Irbox however you have players at a lower price bracket (pool mids, city or spurs) who are currently more consistent.

At Hazard’s price you’d expect an average of 6ppg which he clearly isn’t returning.

Happy to keep him for his haul against Stoke and then Ditch for Eriksen or Alli

Absolutely. My post wasn’t necessarily defending Hazard, it was more saying how a standout performance doesn’t necessarily convert into FPL points

Stick with Hazard meanwhile Coutinho keeps banging in double figure hauls.. The thing here is consistency.. Kane is a totally different prospect.. Even if hazard hauls a 20 against stoke, his average fr 5 games will be 5.4.. I have lost 60 points on my ml leader sticking with the likes of hazard and pogba over cout and lingard.. Fantasy royalty is a thing.. True that but patiently waiting for them to come golden when others are escaping over the horizon is stupidity.. I am a proud hazard ditcher after holding him fr 7 weeks.. And i won't be fretted with him scoring against stoke.. But i couldn't imagine myself bearing another 3 pointer with his man of the match..

Keeping him, just based in eye tests and I can't take his hauls when I sell.

Had him from 7-9, and then 15 onwards. Basically sold him for all his hauls.

I could not disagree more. I’ve played this game for 8 years now and there’s a wealth of players who are good on the eye, get MOTM awards but due to the rules of the game, aren’t valid FPL assets. It’s a trap I always see beginners fall into “I’ve heard of him, he’s a great player I hear” only to struggle in points terms. N’Golo Kante has been player of the year two years on the bounce with Leicester and Chelsea and is a fantastic player. Does he get points? No. Although I think I read somewhere he’s had more shots on target than Haz.

Apples and oranges here mate. Kante is a defensive mid. Hazard is playing an attacking role for the defending champs with a tremendous run of fixtures. I am ditching him after Stoke, however, the post was meant to convey something very different to your interpretation.

Sorry brother, I never think it makes sense to compare the shooting quality between Kante and Hazard. You reminds me that Townsend and Taarart are leading the total number of shots in certain seasons before, but at least they sometimes “looked” threatening, but Kante is really... I am not saying you are right or not, but I feel so sad of Hazard if you put his attacking flair alongside Kante :p

He looked much more dangerous (back to normal) when Morata is on the pitch. Next is up against Stoke, terrible defense plus Zouma not valid to play and Shawcross limped off.

It made sense to ditch Hazard if Morata was still injured or suspended, but ditching him this GW is just not right.

      He goes for DGW.
Holding him instead of getting Coutinho has been costly.
Chelsea don't look like a side atm that is going to smash opponents - compared to Liverpool, spurs, City.
It does seem a theme with mids this season that holding a player too long can cost you.
If Spurs have turned the corner then Alli does seem a viable alternative with fixtures.

True, but keeping him while he blanks again and again is also dangerous. Ive no doubt Hazard will score big in some matches but they are they too few and far between for my liking.

Liverpool and City assests, propable even Spurs mids are just as good picks and better value than Hazard, imo.

Best time to ditch after Stoke. Hazard + Morata to Alli + Kane seems good in my case. Too bad I couldnt watch games due to time constraints else Kane would have never left my side. His stats dropped vs Brighton and Bringing in Lacazette was one of worst decisions of season. Especially cuz it was all in desperation to end year in top 10k...ended up 200k with that puntiness

I’ll keep for stoke, then sell for a spurs mid for gw22. Even if spurs didn’t have a Dgw, I’d sell hazard after stoke. This is because the game is Fantasy, so while eye tests are somewhat important, if the guy, a very expensive one at that, doesn’t deliver Fantasy points on a consistent basis, and others are, he has to go. Fantasy, not reality. That is this game.

Strongly disagree. If anything, the last few weeks have shown that Alli is liable to rotation with Lamela. Eriksen is pretty much nailed as our only proper creative outlet who can keep the ball moving. I'd put Alli at 60%, Son at 80% on current form, and Eriksen at 95%

I'd say Alli is the one who's prone. Son tends to play left of Eriksen to allow him to shoot (though he's fluid). Lamela is left footed to really starts on the left flank. So when he comes on, Alli normally gets subbed and Eriksen moves central

Not in every case of course - yday he came on for Son, but that's because I think Son was taken off for a rest (he only played 76 mins and comfortably winning)

Do we think Lingard will play the next 3 games now? Looks like a finally found a way to get Alonso in.

    Daniels + Pogba -> Alonso + Lingard -4p.

How does it look? Alonso is a player I will get anyway at any cost and Pogba has really looked like bad value. If Lingard plays the most games I'm in no doubt he will get more points because of the position he plays.

Thoughts? I was actually going to do Mbemba-> Dunk to strengh my bench, but if Daniels is out it does not matter because he is injured.

    Cheers
