FFS UEFA Beach Soccer Tournament 2013

Gameweek 8 sees the launch of the latest team competition for the Fantasy Football Scout community organised by FFS UEFA. Following the success of last season’s ICC-themed cricket tournament, the group have created FFS Beach Soccer World Cup 2013, with 16 teams, each comprised of 11 players, competing for the crown.

If you’re new to the concept and are wondering just what all the chatter has been about, here’s a link to their site which will help explain matters in a little more detail.

Essentially, the scoring is based around the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Each team started scouting for players (ie, FPL managers) on Sunday, October 6 and the recruitment period will come to a close on Wednesday, October 16, with the roster of team players announced on Thursday, October 17.

The teams are led by a captain and vice-captain and guided by a manager, who decide which seven of their 11 players to field each week – depending on the perceived prospects of their FPL line-ups -and which four to bench. Their overall FPL scores for the Gameweek, with hits taken into account, will form the team’s score that week – by outscoring their opponents, they chalk up a win.

The first match in Gameweek 8 will be no more than a friendly before the main event gets underway the following weekend. This sees the 16 teams compete in four groups of four between Gameweek 9 and 11 – the top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stages, where sides square up in a head-to-head elimination process from Gameweek 12 until the final in Gameweek 15.           If we beat Solomon and you beats Spurs then El Salvador, Solomon and Netherlands will all be on 6 points and it will go to GD. Solomon are way ahead on this, we currently have the advantage over you by 42 goals.

    Some of the scores haven't been updated though, so our lead is quite possibly more than 32, since Wakey's recorded score is 52 I think, yet he's scored around 62 pnts.(This has occurred for quite a few others as well, mainly on El Salvador) 🙂

      These guys are trying their best to make the best decisions possible for the team, and you have undermined them at every turn... it reflects very poorly on you...

      Trust me, it isn't easy to pick 7 players every week when you have 10-11 really strong teams to choose from all vying for a spot and wanting to play...

      I'm not sure if the Goal Difference tiebreak is only for games between the tied teams, if it was then you would beat Netherlands to 2nd with any win. They're on -25 under that scheme and you started on -17 which would be improved with a win.

        In hindsight, the 7 Suarez (c) was absolutely vital, since they matched us all the way...

        Both teams made astute decisions there... I got lucky with my decision to leave out the teams with Benteke... but if Rooney blanks then that decision will be moot, but I favoured him over Benteke/Lukaku as the 3rd striker of choice this week ...

        Time will tell on that one... not long to go now...
