United had both Vidic and Ronaldo back in training this morning and both therefore look likely to be in contention for tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon. Rooney meanwhile is also back in training and could be just a week away from being back in contention after sustaining an ankle injury a fortnight ago.

Vidic and Ronaldo missed Saturday’s defeat at the Reebok – Vidic with a minor back injury, Ronaldo with a thigh strain. They were sorely missed, perhaps so much so that the idea of resting Ronaldo for future Premiership games will now be errrr…..put to rest. Certainly while Arsenal continue to set the pace, Ferguson won’t be tempted to gamble on benching the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney.

United face Fulham a week from today and there’s a very strong possibility that both will return to the United lineup while Vidic seems a certainty.
